Qualitative analysis and simulation of a nonlinear integro-differential system modeling tumor-immune cells competition

This paper deals with a qualitative and computational study of a class of integrodifferential model, with a nonlinear growth rate. The model is applied to immunology problems, in particular to the competition between tumors and immune system. Our purpose is to take into account the activity transfer processes bet ween cells. The first part of this paper deals with the modeling, while the second part develops the existence and uniqueness of global solutions to the initial boundary value problem related to the application of the model. Finally, numerical simulations are used to illustrate the results obtained for a dynamic of tumor cells contrasted by the immune system.

Numerical Study of Greenhouse Nocturnal Heat Losses

In this study we quantify and analyze different components of nocturnal losses from a heated greenhouse with the presence of vegetation for typical winter weather conditions in Marrakesh-Morocco,using a non linear model,based on the greenhouse heat and mass *** was found that 12% of the total input heat was dissipate as a sensible and latent leakage losses,66% was lost by convective exchange through air-inner *** gain of energy at the inner-cover is dissipated at the outer-cover by radiation(66%)and convection(34%).This results point toward some practical measures to reduce heat losses:increasing air tightness,using covering materials with low-emissivity in the long wave band or putting up an external thermal curtain should provide significant energy savings.

A new colorimetric sensor based-azo dye for Cu^2+ detection was synthesized and characterized by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies. The results showed that the azo dye had a high selective and sensitive recognition toward Cu^2+. The solution containing the sensor changed color from pink to pale yellow with a hypsochromic shift in the presence of Cu^2+. The sensor selectivity and sensitivity toward Cu^2+ ions were investigated by colorimetry and UV-Vis spectroscopy. For practical applications, a cellulosic textile test strip for high-selectivity detection of Cu^2+ ions in aqueous solution was developed using the synthesized azo dye as chromogenic chemosensor molecule, while using a solid cellulose textile as a substrate. As a result, a spectacular color change of the test strip was observed do pending on the amount of copper ions in contact with the strip, which allows an estimation of Cu^2+ concentration by naked eye.

Removal of Real Textile Dyes by Electrocoagulation/Electroflotation in a Pilot External-Loop Airlift Reactor

This paper studied the efficiency of electrocoagulation/electroflotation in removing colour from real textile wastewater by using aluminum and iron electrodes in an innovative pilot external-loop airlift reactor of 150 L. The reactor was designed to operate in batch and continuous modes. The real effluent contained 90% of disperse dye and 10% of reactive dye. A complete flotation of pollutants with acceptable mixing was achieved in this reactor using only the overall liquid recirculation induced by H2 microbubbles. The treatment of these discharges was easier using electrodes of iron rather than aluminum. The optimal initial pH was 10 for both aluminum and iron electrodes. By using iron electrodes, the maximum decolourisation efficiency and COD reduction efficiency reached respectively 96% and 65% for 90 minutes of treatment. Similarly, by using aluminum electrodes, the maximum decolourisation efficiency reached 90%, COD reduction reached 51% for 120 minutes of treatment. In the case of an initial pH slightly different to 10, the required time to reach 90% ranged from double to triple.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)is still one of the main causes of liver disease *** disorders,including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),induced by HCV have been shown to accelerate the progression of fibrosis to cirrhosis and to increase the risk of hepatocellular *** optimal peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PPARGC1A)activity is crucial to prevent NAFLD *** present study aims to investigate the associations between two common PPARGC1A polymorphisms(rs8192678 and rs12640088)and the outcomes of HCV infection in a North African context.A series of 592 consecutive Moroccan subjects,including 292 patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC),100 resolvers and 200 healthy controls were genotyped using a TaqMan allelic discrimination ***1A variations at rs8192678 and rs12640088 were not associated with spontaneous clearance of HCV infection(adjusted ORs=0.76 and 0.79 respectively,P[0.05,for both).Furthermore,multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that both SNPs were not associated with fibrosis progression(OR=0.71;95%CI 0.20–2.49;P=0.739;OR=1.28;95%CI 0.25–6.54;P=0.512,respectively).We conclude that,in the genetic context of South Mediterranean patients,rs8192678 and rs12640088 polymorphisms of PPARGC1 A are neither associated with spontaneous clearance nor with disease progression in individuals infected with HCV.
