Quasilinear elliptic problems with exponential growth via the Nehari manifold method: Existence of nonnegative and nodal solutions

In this paper we will be concerned with the problem -Δu-1/2Δ(a（x）u2)u+V（x）u=f（u）,x∈R2，where V is a potential continuous and f : R → R is a superlinear continuous function with exponential subcritical or exponential critical growth. We use as a main tool the Nehari manifold method in order to show existence of nonnegative solutions and existence of nodal solutions. Our results complement the classical result of solutions for quasilinear Schrodinger equations via the Nehari method due to Jia-quan Liu, Ya-qi Wang and Zhi-Qiang Wang in the sense that in this article we are considering nonlinearity of the exponential type.

Recently,the authors proposed a low-cost approach,named Optimization Approach for Linear Systems(OPALS)for solving any kind of a consistent linear system regarding the structure,characteristics,and dimension of the coefficient matrix *** results obtained by this approach for matrices with no structure and with indefinite symmetric part were encouraging when compare with other recent and well-known *** this work,we proposed to extend the OPALS approach for solving the Linear Least-Squares Problem(LLSP)and the Minimum Norm Linear System Problem(MNLSP)using any iterative low-cost gradient-type method,avoiding the construction of the matrices AT A or AAT,and taking full advantage of the structure and form of the gradient of the proposed nonlinear objective function in the gradient *** combination of those conditions together with the choice of the initial iterate allow us to produce a novel and efficient low-cost numerical scheme for solving both ***,the scheme presented in this work can also be used and extended for the weighted minimum norm linear systems and minimum norm linear least-squares *** include encouraging numerical results to illustrate the practical behavior of the proposed schemes.

In this paper,a new finite element and finite difference(FE-FD)method has been developed for anisotropic parabolic interface problems with a known moving interface using Cartesian *** the spatial discretization,the standard P,FE discretization is applied so that the part of the coefficient matrix is symmetric positive definite,while near the interface,the maximum principle preserving immersed interface discretization is *** the time discretization,a modified Crank-Nicolson discretization is employed so that the hybrid FE-FD is stable and second order *** terms are needed when the interface crosses grid *** moving interface is represented by the zero level set of a Lipschitz continuous *** experiments presented in this paper confirm second orderconvergence.

Background Tree regeneration is a key component of resilience because it promotes post-disturbance recovery of forests. Northwestern Patagonia from Argentina is occupied by Nothofagus alpina（Na）, N. obliqua（No）, and N. dombeyi（Nd） forests that grow along an intense precipitation gradient, managed throughout shelterwood silvicultural system by technicians of the Lanin Natural Reserve. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of seeding cuttings over the dynamics of Nothofagus mixed forests across landscape（precipitation gradient） based mainly on the composition and abundance of tree regeneration, permanent sampling plots and generalized linear mixed models. In particular, we analysed:（i） the structure of sexual and asexual regeneration during 20 years after harvest（the dynamics of managed forests）, and（ii） the structure of sexual regeneration in primary and managed forests after > 20 years of harvest（the effect of silviculture）.Results Nd was the most abundant species in the regeneration of managed forests during all periods in both sites despite its lower contribution to the adult cohort. During the 10–20 years period after harvest, the humid site exhibited higher regeneration density than the mesic site(120,000 and 6000 ind ha-1, respectively), and it decreased afterwards. The number of established regeneration（> 2 m height） was lower for Na in the mesic site and for No in the humid site(0 and 57 ind ha-1, respectively). However, in comparison to No, Na showed a higher number of sprouted stumps and sprouts per stump, and a higher sprout height in the mesic site. No exhibited higher sprout mortality in the humid site. Finally, the regeneration of primary forests showed lower density and height, and a more balanced composition than that of managed *** The silvicultural effects on the mixed forest regeneration dynamics was strongly influenced by the condition of sites. despite its enormous benefits,mining is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the mined areas,creating better conditions for the establishment of plant species which is *** study evaluated mineral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(N)metabolism of two Crotalaria species[Cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and Crotalaria maypu-rensis(native species from Carajás Mineral Province(CMP)]established on a waste pile from an iron mine in CMP.A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization mixtures were tested(i=NPK;ii=NPK+micronutrients;iii=NPK+micronutrients+organic compost;iv=PK;v=PK+micronutrients;vi=PK+micronutrients+organic compost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatments with NPK and micronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** Crotalaria had a greater number of nodules,higher nodule dry mass,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free ammonium as the predominant N form,reflecting greater increments in biomass compared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of mining areas should be considered,mainly because it has good development and meets current government legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.

Neuropathic pain is a severe and chronic condition widely found in the general *** reason for this is the extensive variety of damage or diseases that can spark this unpleasant constant feeling in *** the processing of pain,the dorsal root ganglia constitute an important region where dorsal root ganglion neurons play a crucial role in the transmission and propagation of sensory electrical ***,the dorsal root ganglia have recently exhibited a regenerative capacity that should not be neglected in the understanding of the development and resolution of neuropathic pain and in the elucidation of innovative ***,we will review the complex interplay between cells(satellite glial cells and inflammatory cells)and factors(cytokines,neurotrophic factors and genetic factors)that takes place within the dorsal root ganglia and accounts for the generation of the aberrant excitation of primary sensory neurons occurring in neuropathic *** importantly,we will summarize an updated view of the current pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapies targeting the dorsal root ganglia for the treatment of neuropathic pain.

Olfactory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian central nervous system,including retinal ganglion cell axonal growth through the injured optic ***,it is unknown whether olfactory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotective *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic factor,one of the best neuroprotectants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective capacity of olfactory ensheating glia after optic nerve *** ensheathing glia cells from an established rat immortalized clonal cell line,TEG3,were intravitreally injected in intact and axotomized retinas in syngeneic and allogeneic mode with or without microglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfactory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histocompatibility complex classⅡ*** and syngenically transplanted TEG3 cells survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic TEG3 transplant rescued retinal ganglion cells at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,microglial anatomical activation was higher than after optic nerve crush *** intact retinas,both transplants activated microglial cells and caused retinal ganglion cell death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially rescued by microglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotection of axotomized retinal ganglion cells did not improve with these *** different neuroprotective properties,different toxic effects,and different responses to microglial inhibitory treatments of olfactory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importance of thorough preclinical studies to explore these variables.
