Having a better understanding of air pollutants in railway systems is crucial to ensure a clean public *** study measured,for the first time in Brazil,nanoparticles(NPs)and black carbon(BC)on two groundlevel platforms and inside trains of the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre(MAPA).An intense sampling campaign during thirteen consecutive months was carried out and the chemical composition of NPs was examined by advanced microscopy *** results showed that highest concentrations of the pollutants occur in colder seasons and influenced by variables such as frequency of the trains and passenger ***,internal and external sources of pollution at the stations were *** predominance of NPs enriched with metals that increase oxidative stress like Cd,Fe,Pb,Cr,Zn,Ni,V,Hg,Sn,and Ba both on the platforms and inside trains,including Fe-minerals as hematite and magnetite,represents a critical risk to the health of passengers and employees of the *** interdisciplinary and multi-analytical study aims to provide an improved understanding of reported adverse health effects induced by railway system aerosols.

In this work, we study the influence of the average crystallite size and dopant oxide on the reducibility of CeO2-based nanomaterials. Samples were prepared from commercial Gd2O3-, Sm2O3- and y2O3-doped CeO2 powders by calcination at different temperatures ranging between 400°C and 900°C and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and BET specific surface area. The reducibility of the samples was analyzed by temperature-programmed reduction and in situ dispersive X-ray absorption spectroscopy techniques. Our results clearly demonstrate that samples treated at lower temperatures, of smallest average crystallite size and highest specific surface areas, exhibit the best performance, while Gd2O3-doped ceria materials display higher reducibility than Sm2O3- and y2O3-doped CeO2.

摘要岩石在一定恒定压力荷载作用下可以承受长期的变形，也就是蠕变。虽然关于岩石蠕变研究的现有文献数量比混凝土蠕变研究的文献少得多，但是很多学者已经对这种现象进行了研究和模拟。本文的研究目的是通过改进众所周知的混凝土蠕变模型来研究软岩，以估算岩石的长期蠕变。上述研究中最常见的问题是实验室测试时间短和对已有结果的外推。为了进行岩石物理和力学特性的测试（包括超声、孔隙率、密度以及恒定应力荷载下的强度和蠕变），我们选取了10个直径54mm、高100mm的圆柱形岩样，用蠕变试验来研究软岩的长期蠕变行为。根据CEB-FIP规则得到初期蠕变特性的混凝土样品与被试岩样相比呈现出类似的蠕变特性。文中提出了基于流变学的Kelvin元件和***规则的特定模型用来研究软岩，模型与研究期被测岩样的真蠕变性非常近似。我们注意到蠕变曲线与被测岩样曲线接近的混凝土在荷载作用下产生的单轴压缩强度与干岩石在测试中得到的强度事实上是相等的。这也暗示我们可以通过改变CEB-FIP模型来重现测试期岩石的蠕变性。

Pb and Cr Content in an Agricultural Soil Irrigated with Wastewater and Their Bioaccumulation in Alfalfa

Urban wastewater contains various pollutants, with heavy metals being common, posing risks to the environment and public health, especially when used for irrigation in agricultural systems. This study aimed to assess the total and bioavailable content of Pb and Cr in agricultural soil irrigated with wastewater and their accumulation in alfalfa crops. Five alfalfa sites were sampled, and ten surface soil samples were collected from the top 30 cm of each plot. Plant samples were also collected at each sampling point. A composite sample of irrigation water from the main channels was also collected and prepared. The concentration of heavy metals was determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results revealed concentrations of Pb and Cr (VI) in the irrigation water above the maximum permissible limits according to environmental regulations. The soil had high organic matter content, neutral pH, elevated electrical conductivity (EC), and Pb and Cr contents of up to 103 and 89 mg/kg, respectively. In alfalfa tissues, Pb and Cr concentrations were recorded at 26 mg/kg and 4.6 mg/kg, respectively (Cr (VI), with lower concentrations observed in the roots. Cr (VI) was higher at all sites, with ranges from 2.25 to 43.56, while lead (Pb) had an AR ranging from 0.64 to 27.04. The Pb presented a mean of 1.45 of the Bioaccumulation factor values, which can be considered a metal-accumulating plant.

＜正＞The global scope of this work is to develop an integrated shape and topology optimization system for the optimum design of shell structures, which are now finding widespread use in aeronautical, automotive, civil and mechanical engineering. The proposed investigation project aims to progress on a brand new work line which has captured the mind of many researchers: the shape and topology optimization for "Computer Aided Optimal design" [1]. This project is based on the combination of shape and topology optimization techniques, with the aim of finding the optimal shape and material distribution that maximizes the stiffness of the shell. Most research in the last decades considered both optimization techniques separately, seeking an initial optimal topology and refining the shape of the solution later [2]. The method implemented in this work uses a combined approach, were the shape of the shell structure and material distribution are optimized simultaneously. This formulation involves a variable ground structure for topology optimization, since the shape of the shell is modified in the course of the process. The presented method will enhance the exploration of better designs for carrying the applied loads, due to the ability of optimizing not only the shape of the structure, but also the material distribution over the shell. This technique would provide the designer with a tool which would help to conceive the best configuration of the element considered in each situation. The method has been implemented into a general optimization software called OdeSSy, developed at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering in Aalborg. The computational model was successfully tested in several numerical applications to illustrate and validate the approach, discussing the efficiency and feasibility of the method.

Experiments are reported on the effects of flow intensity, obstacle alignment and cross-section geometry on the equilibrium scour depth around abutments. The effect of flow intensity was studied for clear-water flow conditions, the obstacle alignment was studied for a wide range of angles of the obstacle with the flow direction, and tests on the cross-section geometry apply only to the case where the abutment extends into the main channel of a compound cross-section (two-stage channel). The channel bank and flood plain were built up with sand. The hypothesis of zero scour for flow velocities smaller than approximately 50% of the threshold velocity for the beginning of motion in the approaching flow cannot be rejected; maximum scour occurs for obstacles protruding at right angle from the cross-section walls, the reduction being small when obstacles point upstream; compared with rigid banks, the scour depth seems to be significantly reduced when channel bank and flood plain are constituted of alluvial material.

Impact Containment Barriers with Geotextile Tubes

Recently, tragic tailings dam collapses in Brazil have caused deaths and major destruction and the need to develop technologies capable of preventing damage to people and the environment. Brazilian tailings dams are in a situation of uncertainty due to new legislation that even requires decommissioning, an activity that involves many problems and where the risk of failure is the main one. An impact containment structure downstream of these dams can be effective and geotextile tubes, in a new approach, have emerged as an option with advantages in terms of execution, costs and safety. The technology is versatile and can bring many benefits such as the reuse of tailings or filling with low-energy or reused materials. In this research, geotextile tubes were tested as free containment barriers, experiencing impacts in reduced models. The safety factor for the stability of the structure was constructed using an equation which is the ratio between the self-weight of the barrier structure and its coefficient of static friction and the impact pressure, where the data showed an adequate correlation which suggests the viability of mitigating risks.
