Effects of surface modification on electrochemical performance of MnO_2

The MnO2 samples coated with Ca（OH）2 were prepared by a liquid-phase surface treatment method. The physical properties of the samples were examined by SEM, EDAX and chemical analysis, and their electrochemical performances were investigated by means of galvanostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS）. The SEM results show that the samples coated with Ca（OH）2 display a porous surface structure. The electrochemical experiments indicate that the surface modification decreases the polarization of MnO2 electrodes and improves their discharge potentials and discharge capacities.

The electrocrystalliztion nucleation and growth process of Ni-Fe alloy was studied using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The results show that, in the case of high deposition overpotential, the nucleation/growth process of Ni-Fe binary alloy is 3-D instantaneous, and the growth rate of the previously formed nuclei increases with overpotential. However, at low overpotential, no distinguished nucleation current can be ***, the discrepancy between the experimental non-dimensional variables(I/Im)2 and those calculated from the theoretical model was elucidated in the light of the molecular orbital theorem.

Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis（SHS） method was used to synthesize ZrB2/Al2O3 composite powders from B2O3-ZrO2-Al system. X-ray diffractometry（XRD） and scanning electron microscopy（SEM） analyses show the presence of ZrB2 and Al2O3 as the primary phases in the composite powders, while the presence of a very small amount of ZrO2 is thought to be unreacted zirconium oxide. Transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and high resolution electron microscopy（HREM） observations of microstructure of the composite powders indicate that the interfaces of ZrB2/Al2O3 bond well without any interfacial reaction products. It is proposed that the good interfacial bonding of composite powders results from the ZrB2 particles crystallizing and growing on the Al2O3 particles surface with surface defects acting as nucleation centers.

Synthesis and high-temperature performance of Ti substituted α-Ni(OH)_2

Ti substituted α-Ni（OH）2（c=2.121nm, a =0.307nm） with perfect high-temperature performance was prepared by the co-precipitation method. The effects of Ti addition on the structure and the electrochemical properties were investigated. The results indicate that the substitution of Ti for Ni leads to the conversion of β-Ni（OH）2 to α-Ni（OH）2 and the increase of the inter layer distance along c-axis from 0.464nm to 0.707nm. Infrared study reveals that more anions（SO2-4 and CO2-3 ions） and H2O exist in the Ti substituted α-Ni（OH）2. The discharge capacity of the Ti substituted α-Ni（OH）2 is 210mA·h/g at 20℃ and reaches up to 270mA·h/g at 80℃ owing to the inhibition of the oxygen evolution at high temperature.

This paper presents a novel evaluation model of the customer satisfaction degree （CSD） in logistics based on support vector machine （SVM）. Firstly, the relation between the suppliers and the customers is analyzed. Seondly, the evaluation index system and fuzzy quantitative methods are provided. Thirdly, the CSD evaluation system including eight indexes and three ranks based on one-against-one mode of SVM is built, last simulation experint is presented to illustrate the theoretical results.

Chemically polished NiTi shape memory alloy（SMA） substrate was treated with a boiling aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide to form titania film in situ at low temperature. The surface characterizations of titania film on NiTi substrate were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results show that titania film is successfully fabricated in situ on NiTi SMA by this surface oxidation method. It is mainly composed of rutile and anatase, whose surface compositions and morphologies are sensitive to H2O2 content. In situ formation mechanism of titania film on NiTi substrate was discussed based on the experimental results.

Temperature dependence of deformation mechanism in single crystal Ni-base superalloy

The tensile behavior of a new single crystal Ni-base superalloy was studied at various temperatures. Specimens were strained to fracture in the temperature range from 20℃ to 1000℃. σ0.2 is essentially unaffected by temperatures between 20℃ and 400℃. At higher temperatures it increases until it reaches a maximum at about 800℃. Beyond 800℃ a sharp decrease of strength is observed. There is a slight fluctuation in ductility between 20℃ and 800℃. The elongation to fracture increases from 10% to 36% as the temperature increases from 800℃ to 1000℃. The deformation is dominated by γ′ shearing and the high-density dislocations are observed in matrix channels at low temperatures. The dislocation microstructure is inhomogeneous due to the formation of dislocation concentrations with high-density tangling at intermediate temperatures. The networks deposited at the γ/γ′ interfaces prevent dislocations from entering the γ′ precipitates at high temperatures.

The burden of alcoholic liver disease has rapidly grown in the past two decades and is expected to increase further in the coming years. Alcoholic hepatitis, the most florid presentation of alcoholic liver disease, continues to have high morbidity and mortality, with significant financial and healthcare burden with limited treatment options. Steroids remain the current standard of care in severe alcoholic hepatitis in carefully selected patients. No specific treatments are available for those patients who are steroid ineligible, intolerant or unresponsive. Liver transplant has shown good short-term outcome; however, feasibility, ethical and economic concerns remain. Modification of gut microbiota composition and their products, such as lipopolysaccharide, nutritional interventions, immune modulation, increasing steroid sensitivity, genetic polymorphism and epigenetic modification of alcohol induced liver damage, augmenting hepatic regeneration using GCSF are potential therapeutic avenues in steroid non-responsive/ineligible patients. With better understanding of the pathophysiology, using “Omics” platforms, newer options for patients with alcoholic hepatitis are expected soon.

Preparation and H^+ response mechanism of W/WO_3 pH electrode by sol-gel method

A method of sol-gel for preparing a W/WO3 pH electrode was presented. H+ response characteristics, such as response range, response sensitivity, response time were investigated. The effect of heat-treatment on response linear relation was discussed. The influences of interfered ions and solution temperatures were also taken into consideration. Many kinds of determination technology, such as TG, DSC, IR, SEM, AFM,XPS, XRD were used to characterize the film. The results show that the film appears in crack dried-mud, and the film is composed of WO3, WO3·H2O or WO3·0.33H2O; the hydrate water decreases with the increase of the heat-treatment temperature; the W+6 in the electrode film transfers to W+5 in the course of H+ response; the H+ response course is controlled by the H+ diffusion from the solution to the WO3 crystalline, which is indicated in the EIS spectra; the best heat-treatment temperature is 200℃, and at this temperature, the electrode has an H+ response sensitivity of 52mV/pH.
