Measurement of the absorption spectrum of H_2O^+ in the visible region

Together with the 74 lines belonging to (0,9,0)-(0,0,0) band, the high-resolution absorption spectrum ofH2O+ A2A1-X2B1 system was observed in the visibleregion of 16680-17300 cm-1 using optical heterodyne magnetic rotation enhanced velocity modulation spectroscopy for the first time, which verifies the high sensitivity and high signal to noise ratio (S/N) of this technique.

Synthesis of In_2S_3 thin films by spray pyrolysis from precursors with different[S]/[In] ratios

Indium sulfide （InzS3） thin films were prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis technique from solutions with different [S]/[In] ratios on glass substrates at a constant temperature of 250 ~C. Thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, atomic force microscopy （AFM）, energy disper- sive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）, Raman spectroscopy and optical transmittance spectroscopy. All samples exhibit a polycrystalline structure with a preferential orientation along （0, 0, 12）. A good stoichiometry was attained for all samples. The morphology of thin film surfaces, as seen by SEM, was dense and no cracks or pinholes were ob- served. Raman spectroscopy analysis shows active modes belonging to j3-1naS3 phase. The optical transmittance in the visible range is higher than 60% and the band gap energy slightly increases with the sulfur to indium ratio, attaining a value of 2.63 eV for [S]/[In] ： 4.5.

Computer Assisted Assignments of Rotationally Resolved Molecular Spectra

A graphically oriented interactive program for assignments of rotationally resolved molecular spectra has been devised. The program functions by grouping spectral lines in term of the second difference principle. and graphing spectral intensity versus frequency in a bar graph of the selected groups, distinguished by color and/or line-type. This allows for easy detection of regular patterns buried in the observed spectrum. Furthermore, it includes a Loomis-Wood view for assisting in spectral assignments. As an example, the program was applied in assigning the molecular spectrum of the production in the discharge of PCl3 buffered by helium gas, which may belong to several species. The results suggest that the program is highly efficient and quite useful in the assignment and the analysis of molecular spectra, especially those of symmetric top, slightly asymmetric top and linear molecules. The accuracy and efficiency of this program will likely ensure its wide application in the processing of molecular spectra.

Effect of the Variable B-Field on the Dynamic of a Central Electron Spin Coupled to an Anti-Ferromagnetic Qubit Bath

This present issue is an extension of the work of Y. Xiao-Zhong et al. who investigated the influence of constant external magnetic field on the decoherence of a central electron spin of atom coupled to an anti-ferromagnetic environment. We have shown in this work that the character variability of the field induces oscillations amongst the eigen modes of the environment. This observation is made via the derivation of the transition probability density of state, a manner by which critical parameters (parameters where transition occur) of the system could be obtained as it shows resonance peak. We equally observed that the two different magnons modes resulting from the frequency splitting via the application of the time-varying external B-Field, exhibit each a resonant peak of similar amplitude at different temperature ranges. This additional information shows that the probability for the central spin system to remain in its initially prepared diabatic state is enhanced for some temperature ranges for the corresponding two magnon modes. Hence, these temperature ranges where the probability density is maximum could save as decoherence free environment;an important requirement for the implementation of quantum computation and information processing in solid state circuitry. The theoretical and numerical results presented for the decoherence time and the probability density are that of a decohered central electron spin coupled to an anti-ferromagnetic spin bath. The theory is based on a spin wave approximation and on the density matrix using both transformations of Bloch, Primakov and Bogoliobuv in the adiabatic limit.

Bulk Etch Rate of LR 115 Polymeric Radon detector

In this study, we used strippable LR 115 type 2 which is a Solid State Nuclear Track detector (SSNTD) widely known for radon gas detection and measurement. The removed thickness of the active layer of samples of this SSNTD, were determined by measuring the average initial thickness (before etching) and residual thickness after 80 to 135 minutes chemical etching in the standard conditions, using an electronic comparator. These results allowed the calculation of the bulk etch rate of this detector in a simple way. The mean value obtained is (3.21 ± 0.21) μm/h. This value is in close agreement with those reported by different authors. It is an important parameter for alpha track counting on the sensitive surface of this polymeric detector after chemical etching because track density depends extremely on its removed layer. This SSNTD was then used for environmental radon gas monitoring in Côte d’Ivoire.

In order to investigate the photoalignment mechanism of nematic liquid crystals on an oxadiazoles, new 1,3,4-oxadiazole having fluorine atoms as terminal, as well as sideways was synthesized. Linearly polarized UV light shined in these nano-layered films causes the preferential direction of the liquid crystal molecules either perpendicular (in the case of terminal fluoro substitution) or parallel (in the case of sideways fluorine substitution) to the polarized direction. A powerful indication about the relationship between molecular structure and alignment properties where just by changing fluorine atom can change the entire alignment direction is proposed. Such information is indispensable for the design and synthesis of photoalignment materials for liquid crystal displays of high quality.
