Effect of music therapy on short-term psychological and physiological outcomes in mechanically ventilated patients:A randomized clinical pilot study

In response to the challenges in providing real-time extraction of crop biophysical signatures,computer vision in computational crop phenotyping highlights the opportunities of computational intelligence *** and angular brightness due to the presence of photosynthetic light unevenly illuminate crop *** this study,a novel vegetation index named artificial bee colony-optimized visible band oblique dipyramid greenness index(vODGIabc)was proposed to enhance vegetation pixels by correcting the saturation and brightness levels,and the ratio of visible RGB reflectance ***-grade smartphone was used to acquire indoor and outdoor aquaponic lettuce images daily for full 6-week crop life *** introduced saturation rectification coeffi-cient(X),value rectification coefficient(m),green–red wavelength adjustment factor(a),and green–blue wavelength adjustment factor(b)on the original triangular greenness index resulted in 3D canopy reflectance spectrum with two oblique tetrahedrons formed by connecting the vertices of visible RGB band reflectance and maximum wavelength point map to corresponding saturation and value of lettuce-captured *** neighborhood component analysis(NCA),minimum redundancy maximum relevance(MRMR),Pearson’s correlation coefficient(PCC),and analysis of variance(ANOVA)weighted most of the canopy area,energy,and *** linear relationships were exhibited by using vODGIabc in estimating lettuce crop fresh weight,height,number of spanning leaves,leaf area index,and growth stage with R2 values of 0.9368 for InceptionV3,0.9574 for ResNet101,0.9612 for ResNet101,0.9999 for Gaussian processing regression,and accuracy of 88.89%for ResNet101,*** low-cost approach on developing greenness index for biophysical signatures estimation proved to be more accurate than the previously established triangular greenness index(TGI)using RGB smartphone camera.

Anti-hyperglycemic effects of aqueous Lenzites betulina extracts from the Philippines on the blood glucose levels of the ICR mice(Mus musculus)

Objective: To examine the anti-hyperglycemic effects of aqueous Lenzites betulina(L. betulina) extracts on normoglycemic glucose-loaded ***: Different doses of aqueous extract from L. betulina were administered to 45 ICR mice(Mus musculus) to determine whether there was an effect of L. betulina extracts on the blood glucose level of the ICR mice. Aqueous extracts of L. betulina were orally gavaged to mice using oral glucose tolerance test. A total of five groups were used to determine the effect of the fungi on blood glucose of the mice. Group A(positive control)was given 16.7 mg/kg glimepiride; Group B(negative control) was given distilled water;Group C(low dosage) was given 200 mg/kg aqueous extract; Group D(mid dosage) was given 400 mg/kg aqueous extract and Group E(high dosage) was given 800 mg/kg aqueous extract. Baseline blood glucose value was firstly acquired before induction of hyperglycemia through D-glucose, after which another check on blood glucose was made after 0.5 h. Immediately, after the acquisition of hyperglycemic blood glucose level, the individual administration of treatments were done. After that, three blood collections were done spanning 3 h with 1 h ***: The low dose(200 mg/kg) and the mid dose(400 mg/kg) of L. betulina extracts were significantly different(P latter surpassing its baseline value during the 3rd hour. On the other hand, the high dose(800 mg/kg) during the 1st hour after administration was not significantly different(P > 0.05) from its corresponding baseline value, acting faster than the positive control(glimepiride), which only became significantly different(P < 0.05) at the 2nd ***: Aqueous L. betulina extract is able to produce hypoglycemic effects on the mice with all doses, which are able to normalize blood glucose levels at varying times.

Adhesion of Technical Lignin-Based Non-Isocyanate Polyurethane Adhesives for Wood Bonding

Lignin is the most abundant aromatic natural polymer,and receiving great attention in replacing various petro-leum-based *** aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of technical lignin as a polyol for the synthesis of non-isocyanate polyurethane(NIPU)adhesives to substitute current polyurethane(PU)adhesives that have been synthesized with toxic isocyanate and *** hardwood kraft lignin(C-HKL)was extracted from black liquor from a pulp mill followed by acetone fractionation to obtain acetone soluble-HKL(AS-HKL).Then,C-HKL,AS-HKL,and softwood sodium lignosulfonate(LS)were used for the synthesis of technical lignin-based NIPU adhesives through carbonation and polyamination and silane as a *** adhesion per-formance was determined for *** spectra showed the formation of urethane bonds and the reaction between lignin and *** NIPU adhesives prepared with C-HKL showed the highest adhesion strength among the three lignin-based NIPU *** the silane addition level increased,the adhesion strength of NIPU adhesives increased whereas formaldehyde emission decreased for all NIPU adhesives *** results indicate that NIPU adhesives based on technical kraft lignin have a great potential as polyol for the synth-esis of bio-based NIPU adhesives for wood bonding.

Synsepalum dulcificum extracts exhibit cytotoxic activity on human colorectal cancer cells and upregulate c-fos and c-jun early apoptotic gene expression

Objective: To explore cytotoxicity of Synsepalum dulcificum(S. dulcificum) Daniell(Sapotaceae) on human colon cancer(HCT-116 and HT-29), human monocytic leukemia(THP-1) and normal(HDFn) cell lines, and its effect on the expression of early apoptotic genes, c-fos and c-jun. Methods: Leaf, stem and berry of S. dulcificum were separately extracted by using 2 solvents, 10% ethanol(EtOH) and 80% methanol(MeOH). PrestoB lue~? cell viability assay and q RT-PCR assay were conducted to examine the above objectives respectively. Results: Stem MeOH, stem EtOH, and berry EtOH extracts of S. dulcificum were cytotoxic to HCT-116 and HT-29 human colon cancer cells. For HCT-116, IC_(50) values of these 3 extracts were not significantly different(P>0.05) from that of the positive control bleomycin(IC_(50) of 33.57 μg/mL), while for HT-29, IC_(50) values of these 3 extracts were significantly lower(Pdermal fibroblasts. For both HCT-116 and HT-29, these extracts significantly up-regulated(Plation of the expression of early apoptotic genes, c-fos and c-jun.

Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from shrimp wastes and used to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous solutions and concentrate this rare earth element from phosphogypsum(PG).Chitin aerogel displays a specific surface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is 3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences its adsorption *** the adsorption in synthetic solutions,the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is strong for chitin powder *** contrast,no big pH influence was detected for chitin *** interactions and chelation can highlight the proposed mechanism of Y^(3+)on chitin adsorbents for the powder and ***,in addition to these interactions,pore filling/pore diffusion is the main mechanism of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is efficient in concentrating 8 times the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a secondary source of rare earth elements for other applications.

Turning teawaste particles into magnetic bio-sorbents particles for arsenic removal from wastewater:Isotherm and kinetic studies

The primary objective of this research was to assess the potential of magnetic bleached biochar(MBBC)as a cost-effective adsorbent for arsenic *** achieve this,locally collected tea wastes underwent meticulous cleaning,bleaching,and modifications via thermal and chemical *** non-magnetic and magnetic biochar adsorbents were thoroughly characterized using Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)and thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA).Subsequently,the adsorptive performance of MBBC in removing arsenic from wastewater samples was investigated,considering various crucial parameters such as adsorbent-adsorbate contact time,concentration of As,temperature,adsorbent dosage,and the regeneration-ability of the *** experimental data for the adsorption process were best represented by the langmuir isotherm,indicating its suitability for the MBBC ***,the MBBC demonstrated a maximum langmuir adsorption capacity of approximately 714 mg/g at room temperature,highlighting its efficiency as an arsenic ***,the lagergren's Pseudo-second order kinetic model proved to be the most suitable for describing the adsorption kinetics,confirming the chemisorption nature of the *** results also indicated that the adsorption process is endothermic and feasible,suggesting its viability for practical *** all findings into account,the comprehensive analysis strongly supports the potential use of MBBC as a highly promising and cost-effective adsorbent for efficiently removing arsenic from aqueous *** research contributes valuable insights to the field of wastewater treatment and offers a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for tackling arsenic contamination in water sources.

Robot-Oriented 6G Satellite-UAV Networks: Requirements, Paradigm Shifts, and Case Studies

Networked robots can perceive their surroundings, interact with each other or humans,and make decisions to accomplish specified tasks in remote/hazardous/complex environments. Satelliteunmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) networks can support such robots by providing on-demand communication services. However, under traditional open-loop communication paradigm, the network resources are usually divided into user-wise mostly-independent links,via ignoring the task-level dependency of robot collaboration. Thus, it is imperative to develop a new communication paradigm, taking into account the highlevel content and values behind, to facilitate multirobot operation. Inspired by Wiener’s Cybernetics theory, this article explores a closed-loop communication paradigm for the robot-oriented satellite-UAV network. This paradigm turns to handle group-wise structured links, so as to allocate resources in a taskoriented manner. It could also exploit the mobility of robots to liberate the network from full coverage,enabling new orchestration between network serving and positive mobility control of robots. Moreover,the integration of sensing, communications, computing and control would enlarge the benefit of this new paradigm. We present a case study for joint mobile edge computing(MEC) offloading and mobility control of robots, and finally outline potential challenges and open issues.
