Log interpretation of carbonate rocks based on petrophysical facies constraints

The complex pore structure of carbonate reservoirs hinders the correlation between porosity and *** view of the sedimentation,diagenesis,testing,and production characteristics of carbonate reservoirs in the study area,combined with the current trends and advances in well log interpretation techniques for carbonate reservoirs,a log interpretation technology route of“geological information constraint+deep learning”was *** principal component analysis(PCA)was employed to establish lithology identification criteria with an accuracy of 91%.The Bayesian stepwise discriminant method was used to construct a sedimentary microfacies identification method with an accuracy of 90.5%.Based on production data,the main lithologies and sedimentary microfacies of effective reservoirs were determined,and 10 petrophysical facies with effective reservoir characteristics were *** by petrophysical facies,the mean interpretation error of porosity compared to core analysis results is 2.7%,and the ratio of interpreted permeability to core analysis is within one order of magnitude,averaging *** research results demonstrate that deep learning algorithms can uncover the correlation in carbonate reservoir well logging *** geological and production data and selecting appropriate machine learning algorithms can significantly improve the accuracy of well log interpretation for carbonate reservoirs.

A 4-D fractional order chaotic system without equilibrium point is studied in this paper, the modification of the differential transform method（MDTM） is applied to solving the fractional order chaotic system, and 0-1 test method is used to test chaotic of the system, the regular and chaotic motions can be decided by calculating the asymptotic growth rate K approaching asymptotically to zero or one. We give the stable condition for the stability of the system via qausi state feedback, and also design a qausi state feedback controller to stabilize the 4-D fractional order chaotic system. The feasibility of the algorithm is verified by simulation example.

Geodetic deformation severely affects the development of the oilfield and probably causes casing damage or abandonment of injection wells and producers. Therefore, it is meaningful to survey and study three-dimensional geodetic deformation in the process of the oilfield development. In order to study this issue, 11-year long term surveying of three-dimensional geodetic deformation has been carried out while developing Naner area in daqing oilfield. Basic rules of 3-D geodetic deformation have been obtained through surveying. Results show that production and injection under high pressure may cause the changes of surface elevation, and geodetic deformation correlates with simultaneous formation pressure. Precautions and relative technological measurements have been put forward in the waterflood development in Naner region and provide theoretical guidelines for the production and casing preservation of the oilfield. Finally, surveying results are interpreted by porous elastic theory. Mathematical model to calculate 3-D geodetic deformation is put forward in the course of the oilfield development.

Bulk density is one of the most important formation parameters for formation evaluation. The radioisotope chemical sources are widely used in conventional nuclear logging tools. considering security and environmental risks, the pulsed neutron generators have successfully replaced the Am-Be source in neutron porosity logging tools. The neutron-induced secondary gamma-ray source cannot be considered as a point source. The distribution of the inelastic gamma source is a function of the neutron transport. Due to the high gamma energy values, the attenuation of inelastic gamma-ray is affected by compton scattering and pair production. Therefore, the bulk density can be measured when the effects of neutron transport and pair production are considered. A new open hole wireline logging tool has been developed to provide measurement of formation bulk density. The paper reviews the NGD measurement physics and discusses the various facets of bulk density algorithm. Data from laboratory testing examples are presented to demonstrate tool performance.

Applicability of deep neural networks for lithofacies classification from conventional well logs: An integrated approach

Parametric understanding for specifying formation characteristics can be perceived through conventional approaches. Significantly, attributes of reservoir lithology are practiced for hydrocarbon exploration. Well logging is conventional approach which is applicable to predict lithology efficiently as compared to geophysical modeling and petrophysical analysis due to cost effectiveness and suitable interpretation time. However, manual interpretation of lithology identification through well logging data requires domain expertise with an extended length of time for measurement. Therefore, in this study, Deep Neural Network (DNN) has been deployed to automate the lithology identification process from well logging data which would provide support by increasing time-effective for monitoring lithology. DNN model has been developed for predicting formation lithology leading to the optimization of the model through the thorough evaluation of the best parameters and hyperparameters including the number of neurons, number of layers, optimizer, learning rate, dropout values, and activation functions. Accuracy of the model is examined by utilizing different evaluation metrics through the division of the dataset into the subdomains of training, validation and testing. Additionally, an attempt is contributed to remove interception for formation lithology prediction while addressing the imbalanced nature of the associated dataset as well in the training process using class weight. It is assessed that accuracy is not a true and only reliable metric to evaluate the lithology classification model. The model with class weight recognizes all the classes but has low accuracy as well as a low F1-score while LSTM based model has high accuracy as well as a high F1-score. (c) 2024 The Authors. A perforating hole is a channel through which the oil and gas in a reservoir pass into the production well *** the process of perforating due to explosion,the surrounding sandstone will be damaged to a certain extent,which will increase the well bore skin and lead to the decrease of production *** this work a mechanical model of perforating damage is developed to describe the influences of perforating due to explosion on the porosity and permeability of the surrounding sandstone near the compaction *** on this developed model,the important data related to the damage of sandstone,such as matrix effective stress,plastic deformation,volumetric strain,and so on,can be numerically *** the behaviors of plasticity kinematic hardening at high strain rate due to impact loads,which are the important characteristics in the sandstone,is taken into account in this developed *** numerical and testing results show that the damage due to perforation in the sandstone can be accurately predicted by the developed model together with the porosity and permeability evolving model of perforation in a compaction *** a practical application,a methodology for the analysis of damage of porosity and permeability around a perforation tunnel is supposed based on the developed model and the core flow efficiency test of interparticle pore spaced sandstone target in China Shengli Oilfield and the computed tomography test.

Anti-drilling ability of Ziliujing conglomerate formation in Western Sichuan Basin of China

The conglomerate rock is usually featured by strong heterogeneity,high abrasiveness,and poor drillability due to its complex composition and texture,which brought a huge challenge for drilling *** order to guide the drill bit selection and high-efficiency drilling,the physical,mechanical,and drillability characteristics were investigated for conglomerate rock that collected from the lower Jurassic Ziliujing formation in the Western Sichuan Basin of *** mineral composition,SEM micro-structure,P-and S-wave velocities,uniaxial and triaxial compressive testing,drillability,abrasiveness were systematically tested and *** mechanical properties and anti-drilling ability of Ziliujing formation were proposed for a typical deep well of S-07,and the distribution characteristics were *** results indicated that the Ziliujing rock is rich-in quartz and clay minerals,due to the co-existing of strong quartz gravel and weak argillaceous cement,the Ziliujing rock shows strong *** relationships are roughly linear among UCS,drillability,and grinding weight loss with P-wave *** Young's modulus,UCS,internal friction angle,drillability,and abrasiveness meet the Weibull distribution pattern,while only the Poisson's ratio meets the Kernel Smooth distribution *** interpretation results reval that the Ziliujing formation has the Young's modulus of 38.61±17.08 GPa,the Poisson's ratio of 0.327±0.006,the internal friction angle of 49.21±11.00°,the drillability of 8.04±1.54,and the abrasiveness grade of 4.32±*** mechanical properties and anti-drilling ability of logging interpretation are in good agreement with the experimental *** Ziliujing formation is a kind of hard rock with strong heterogeneity,high strength,poor drillability,and medium *** on the characteristics of Ziliujing formations,the SV516TAUL PDC bit with non-planar cutters was selected for the field application due to the good abrasion resi
