The aim was to examine depression and anxiety among parents of children with Cystic Fibrosis and the association between the parents’ symptoms and the child’s quality of life as rated by the parents. Parents completed HADS (hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), and CES-D (Center of Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale), and assessed the children’s quality of life with CFQ-R (Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire-Revised). Anxiety amongst the parents was higher than the general population (m = 6.55, SD = 3.54, p < 0.001). The level of depression does not differ from that of the general population. Mothers showed more anxiety symptoms than fathers (p < 0.001). Gender differences were not significant for depression symptoms. There is a strong association between the fathers’ self-rated depression and their rating of their child’s health. Both children and parents should be paid attention to in order to identify mental ill-health and take measures in good time.

Patients with high tumor mutational burden(TMB)levels do not consistently respond to immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs),possibly because a high TMB level does not necessarily result in adequate infiltration of CD8^(+)T *** bulk ribonucleic acid sequencing(RNA-seq)data from 9311 tumor samples across 30 cancer types,we developed a novel tool called the modulator of TMB-associated immune infiltration(MOTIF),which comprises genes that can determine the extent of CD8^(+)T cell infiltration prompted by a certain TMB *** confirmed that MOTIF can accurately reflect the integrity and defects of the cancer-immunity *** analyzing 84 human single-cell RNA-seq datasets from 32 types of solid tumors,we revealed that MOTIF can provide insights into the diverse roles of various cell types in the modulation of CD8^(+)T cell *** pretreatment RNA-seq data from 13 ICI-treated cohorts,we validated the use of MOTIF in predicting CD8^(+)T cell infiltration and ICI *** the components of MOTIF,we identified EMC3 as a negative regulator of CD8^(+)T cell infiltration,which was validated via in vivo ***,MOTIF provided guidance for the potential combinations of programmed death 1 blockade with certain immunostimulatory drugs to facilitate CD8^(+)T cell infiltration and improve ICI efficacy.

Background:Living donor kidney transplantations have been performed at Sahlgrenska University hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden since 1965. In this study we wanted to explore the living kidney donor’s long-term experiences of the donation. Methods: Of 1110 consecutive living donors throughout 1965-2005, 823 were available for our questionnaire study. Results:Totally 692 replied to the questionnaire, 65% were females. The most common relation to the recipients was siblings (284), parents (262) and spouses (96). Time since donation was median 15 years (2 - 43). The initiative to donate came from the donors themselves in 69%. The dominating motives for donation were a wish to help, worries about the recipient not receiving a transplant and the knowledge that one could live a normal life with one kidney. The majority of the donors, felt well informed about potential risks both short-term and long-term. Depression post donation was reported by few donors, 2.3% and persisting pain by 4.3%. Comparisons between sibling donors and spouse donors show a significant difference (p Conclusions:Our study shows that the donor population is in good psychosocial health. It is a positive progress that spouses can be living kidney donors - they seem to be the winners.

Dear Editor,Human papillomavirus(HPV)is the most common sexually transmitted virus worldwide,and high-risk HPV infection is the most important risk factor for cervical cancer.1 However,few conclusive data are available on the prevalence of the male HPV infection and its health *** has been found that the prevalence of seminal HPV infection is higher in men with unexplained infertility,ranging between 10%and 35%compared with the general population(range:2%to 11%).2–4 In three recent systematic reviews,it was seen that HPV sperm infection may be associated with impaired sperm function that could lead to male infertility.2,4,5 HPV sperm infection with high-risk HPV among infertile men was shown to be associated with lower progressive sperm motility and higher DNA fragmentation index.6 Moreover,a high rate of pregnancy loss has been found among couples with HPV sperm infection after in vitro fertilization(IVF).7 In the majority of the studies performed to assess seminal HPV infection.

Reading ability in the elderly means independence, and quality of life. In age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the main deficit is the loss of reading ability. The neovascular form is the leading cause of vision loss in the developed world among people over 50 years of age. With ranibizumab (Lucentis) a drug treatment has become available, but, despite good outcome of visual acuity, patients often report that their reading ability has been affected. We aimed therefor to study reading performance with Tobii Eye Tracker in patients, treated with intravitrial Lucentis. Twenty patients, 15 female and 5 male (range 74 - 98 year), were recruited from St. Erik Eye hospital. All had, before and after treatment, their reading speed, comprehension, fixations, saccadic eye movements measured while reading two texts with an equal readability rating. For all eye movement parameters, except the number of regressions per word, there was no statistically significant difference when comparing the results from before and after treatment. However, a statistically significant increase in the number of regressions per word after treatment as well as increased visual acuity and comprehension, were found. Reading is fundamental in our society and should be tested in order to fully understand a patient’s complaints;however, an increased VA will not necessarily equal an increased reading ability. The results also show that the Tobii system is suitable for evaluation of reading performance in a clinical setting, and can together with other tests, give valuable information about the patients complains and the outcome of a treatment.
