聚乳酸（PLA）是一种来源于玉米及甜菜根的脂肪类聚合物，可被降解为无毒的化合物。目前，常用的PLA合成方法为直接由乳酸或丙交酯开环聚合制得PLA。首先用乳酸合成低分子量的PLA，随后使其解聚成丙交酯（不稳定的二聚物），最后经催化剂开环聚合成可控的高分子聚合物，其制备过程免溶剂处理。该方法能够以低成本生产高分子量的PLA，故在市场上得到了广泛的应用。

Background: Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are subtypes of hematological disorders which are known to have partial bone marrow dysplasia, peripheral cytopenia, and later on an increased risk to develop acute myeloid leukemia. Chromosomal aberrations are detected in ~50% of cases of de novo MDS cases and the most common chromosomal abnormalities of this entity include complete or partial monosomy of chromosomes 5 and 7, partial deletion of 20q and 12p, trisomy 8, and 11q23 aberrations. A few primary and/or secondary MDS cases combined with other cancer have been reported. Case Presentation: We report here an adult MDS associated with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). G-banding and array-proven multicolor banding (aMCB) revealed an unbalanced translocation der(7)t(1;7)(q21;q21), which led to 1q partial trisomy and 7q partial monosomy. Immunophenotype of this case was consistent with refractory anemia with excess of blasts (RAEB-2) according to World Health Organization (WHO) classification. Conclusions: As far as we know, this is the first adult MDS case associated with SCC and an unbalanced translocation t(1;7). Our patient received first cycle of azacitidine treatment and he showed bilateral pleural effusion as a secondary event. This toxicity is not limited to the first cycle as in previous MDS cases;our case is the first one to shown this toxicity as a secondary event of azacitidine treatment. As less than 10 cytogenetcially comparable cases without SCC were reported before in male MDS, we carefully conclude that this cytogenetic aberration may be a hint on a new gender associated MDS subgroup.

The leopard moth （Zeuzera pyrina L）, is a cossid whose larvae bore into twigs, branches and trunks of various woody species, weakening and killing trees or shrubs. Recently it caused serious losses of apple trees in Syria. The flight dynamics of Z. pyrina was monitored by pheromone traps （first time in Syria） compared to light trap device. This study was carried out in damascus countryside, Qunaytirah and Sweida provinces during 2007-2008. Results indicated that the flight of moths during 2007 started in early June in damascus countryside and Sweida provinces. The highest number of caught adults （the highest peak） was concentrated in mid July in Sweida province, whereas in damascus countryside province there were a high peak in mid June and a small peak in early July. On the other hand, flight of moths during 2008 started in mid-May in damascus countryside province while in Qunaytirah province started in early June. The highest number of caught adults （the highest peak） was concentrated in late July in damascus countryside, whereas in Qunaytirah province there were small peaks in mid June and mid July. Experiments conducted to evaluate capturing efficiency of different types of traps （pheromone traps and light trap） demonstrated that there was significantly high difference within the trap devices, wherein Capta trap got the best results and caught more males than the others.

Urban Soil Pollution with Heavy Metals in Hama Floodplain,Syria

The Orontes river basin can be considered one of the most polluted areas in the eastern Mediterranean due to the intense urban occupation, intensive agriculture irrigation, and large numbers of different industries activities. The objective of the study was to assess the extent and severity of heavy metal pollution of arable soils of Hama floodplain, in order to provide a general insight vision of pollution status in this intensive agricultural production area. The present and spatial distribution of four heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn) concentration have been examined in 5 monitoring sites of river’s water along the part of the river passing through the plain of Hama;and also from 93 samples of topsoil from the area surrounding the city of Hama have been examined. The concentrations of heavy metals in both river water and soil were within the international standards. Water analyses indicated pH of moderately alkaline, no irrigation problem related to ammonium nitrogen and phosphate phosphorus, while the Electrical Conductivity (EC) has referred to an increasing problem. Geo-accumulation Index (Igeo) refers to strong building up for Cd, Pb, and very strongly for Cu. Soil analyses refer to clayey, calcareous, and alkaline soil with pH ranges from 7.5 to 8.6, with significantly higher organic matter content especially near sewage plants, attributed to irrigation with untreated sewage sludge water. Geostatistical analysis of data showed up normal spatial distribution related to the high variation between the values of the studied elements;whereas the Cu and Cd concentrations were higher than allowable limit near the steel, rubber wheel factories and reach 127 for Cu and 9.8 μg·g-1 for Cd. Additionally, a high concentration of Cu was significantly associated with organic matter content. The concentration of Pb was within the limits, with the exception of riverbanks where the values of Pb exceed 95 μg·g-1, with (Igeo) of 4.22 refers strongly to very strong accumulation. To

Porous silicon (PS) was prepared by electrochemical etching method. The pore size and morphology were determined from the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) measurements, the porosity was determined from AFM results and compared with the result from the usually measured porosity through a gravimetric technique which depends on removing of porous film, and that destroys the samples. The success of this method means that we can determine porosity without destroying samples. The properties of porous silicon structure were studied with the variation of anodization process parameters of porous silicon such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) concentration, current density, the influence of structure changes on optical properties such as refractive index, which decreases exponentially with porosity, and the absorption coefficient which increases with porosity were studied too.

Background:Proctocolectomy with ileal pouch–anal anastomosis(IPAA)is the surgical procedure of choice for medically refractory ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous *** rare,a pouch volvulus can *** aimed to determine the frequency,presentation,and management approach of pouch volvulus in patients with ***:A systematic search of published literature was performed by a medical reference librarian on 10 August 2018 and two independent reviewers identified relevant publications,extracted data,and assessed the methodological quality based on a validated tool.A retrospective review of the Mayo Clinic electronic medical records identified one case of pouch volvulus between January 2008 and August ***:The frequency of pouch volvulus from one large published study reporting long-termoutcomes of IPAA was 0.18%(3/1,700).A total of 22 patients(18 ulcerative colitis)were included(median age 32 years,73%females).Median time to volvulus after IPAA was 36 months while median interval to volvulus diagnosis from symptom onset was 24 *** pain was the most commonly reported symptom(76%).The diagnosis was made primarily by abdominal computed tomography(13/17 patients,76%).Endoscopic treatment was successful in 1 of 11 patients(9%).Surgery was performed in 20 patients and pouch-pexy and pouch excision were the most frequent surgical operations.A redo IPAA was performed in five patients(25%).Conclusion:Pouch volvulus is a rare but serious complication of IPAA and should be suspected even in the absence of obstruction *** treatment often fails and surgery is effective when performed early.

Basaltic rocks are used extensively as engineering materials including aggregates for Portland cement concrete and asphalt concrete. Syria is very rich in Basaltic rocks. There are reserves estimated to be several billion tonnes according to recent geological investigations. The annual production of concrete in Syria is about 20 million m3, containing about 35 million tonnes of aggregates. Due to some concerns, use of basalt as concrete aggregate is very limited in Syria. Because of additional costs of transportation of dolomite aggregate produced in quarries located about 200 km far from the southern region, studying suitability of basaltic rocks occurring in As-Swaida"a region as local aggregate source would be very important. As-Swaida is basically an agricultural city. However, it has recently witnessed urban and industrial developments. This paper is part of larger research on evaluating the basaltic rocks extracted from As-Swaida"a region, as a potential source of concrete aggregate. Effects of aggressive acidic environments on concrete have been investigated through 3 months of exposure to 5% H2SO4, 10% HCl, 5% HNO3 and 10% CH3COOH solutions. In addition, concrete permeability measured in terms of water penetration depth was evaluated for concrete after two curing time of 28 and 90 days. A RCPT (Rapid chloride penetration test) has also been carried out according to ASTM C 1202. Dolomite aggregate were used for comparison. Petrographical, chemical and physical characteristics of basaltic rocks have been reported as well. The experimental results revealed that As-Swaida"a basaltic rocks were suitable for production of crushed rock aggregates for concrete production. The resistance to all acidic solutions, except H2SO4 solution, was improved substantially with the use of basalt aggregate. In addition, the resistance to water permeation and to chloride penetration of concrete increased with the use of basalt aggregates compared with dolomite aggregate. Moreover,
