Potential evaluation and implementation strategy for pocket park construction in high-density urban areas: A case study in dalian, China

As an important element of urban renewal in highly urbanized areas, pocket parks with small size, flexible layout and daily accessibility are becoming a major component of green infrastructure and the mainstay of outdoor recreation space expansion in high-density urban centers. Nevertheless, the absence of a comprehensive framework for evaluating the potential of pocket park construction (PPC), one that integrates diverse influencing factors on a macro scale, has resulted in the random installation of such spaces, often failing to optimize the utilization of urban land. Addressing this critical lacuna, we propose an approach to evaluate PPC potential from a city-scale perspective, which is used to support the determination of which land units should be prioritized for PPC. A complete and feasible workflow was also established to identify potential land units, construct an index system for PPC combining demand and supply levels, quantitatively calculate indices based on remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS), accurately evaluate PPC potential using an entropy-weighted TOPSIS model, and develop targeted renewal strategies. A case study in dalian, China, demonstrated the applicability and implications of the workflow. The results showed that it is flexible and easy to adapt to different local contexts, allowing evaluators to introduce parameters considering the availability of local data, and will help decision makers to build pocket parks in the most effective plots, providing a strong reference for high-quality development in other high-density urban centers facing the contradiction between ecological construction and land scarcity.

Hydroxysafflor Yellow A Promotes HaCaT Cell Proliferation and Migration by Regulating HBEGF/EGFR and PI3K/AKT Pathways and Circ_0084443

Objective:To investigate the effect and possible mechanism of hydroxysafflor yellow A(HSYA) on human immortalized keratinocyte cell proliferation and migration.Methods:HaCaT cells were treated with HSYA.Cell proliferation was detected by the cell counting kit-8 assay,and cell migration was measured using wound healing assay and Transwell migration assay.The mRNA and protein expression levels of heparin-binding epidermal growth factor(EGF)-like growth factor(HBEGF),EGF receptor(EGFR),phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K),protein kinase B(AKT),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR) and Western blot,respectively.Circ_0084443-overexpressing HaCaT cells and empty plasmid HaCaT cells were constructed using the lentiviral stable transfection and treated with HSYA.The expression of circ_0084443 was detected by qRT-PCR.Results:HSYA(800 μmol/L) significantly promoted HaCaT cell proliferation and migration(P0.05).Conclusion:HSYA played an accelerative role in HaCaT cell proliferation and migration,which may be attributable to activating HBEGF/EGFR and PI3K/AKT signaling pathways,and had a particular inhibitory effect on the keratinocyte negative regulator circ_0084443.

New roles of tumor-derived exosomes in tumor microenvironment

Throughout tumorigenesis, the co-evolution of tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment leads to the development of malignant phenotypes. Cellular communication within the tumor microenvironment(TME) plays a critical role in influencing various aspects of tumor progression, including invasion and metastasis. The release of exosomes, a type of extracellular vesicle, by most cell types in the body, is an essential mediator of intercellular communication. A growing body of research indicates that tumor-derived exosomes(TDEs) significantly expedite tumor progression through multiple mechanisms, inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and macrophage polarization, enhancing angiogenesis, and aiding in the immune evasion of tumor cells. Herein, we describe the formation and characteristics of the TME, and summarize the contents of TDEs and their diverse functions in modulating tumor development. Furthermore, we explore potential applications of TDEs in tumor diagnosis and treatment.

OSW-1 triggers necroptosis in colorectal cancer cells through the RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway facilitated by the RIPK1- p62/SQSTM1 complex

BACKGROUND Necroptosis has emerged as a novel molecular pathway that can be targeted by chemotherapy agents in the treatment of cancer.OSW-1,which is derived from the bulbs of Ornithogalum saundersiae Baker,exerts a wide range of pharmaco-logical effects.AIM To explore whether OSW-1 can induce necroptosis in colorectal cancer(CRC)cells,thereby expanding its range of clinical applications.METHODS We performed a sequence of functional experiments,including Cell Counting Kit-8 assays and flow cytometry analysis,to assess the inhibitory effect of OSW-1 on CRC cells.We utilized quantitative proteomics,employing tandem mass tag label-ing combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry,to analyze changes in protein expression.Subsequent bioinformatic analysis was conducted to elucidate the biological processes associated with the identified proteins.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and immunofluorescence studies were also performed to examine the effects of OSW-1 on necroptosis.Finally,western blotting,siRNA experiments,and immunoprecipitation were employed to evaluate protein interactions within CRC cells.RESULTS The results revealed that OSW-1 exerted a strong inhibitory effect on CRC cells,and this effect was accompanied by a necroptosis-like morphology that was observable via TEM.OSW-1 was shown to trigger necroptosis via activation of the RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL pathway.Furthermore,the accumulation of p62/SQSTM1 was shown to mediate OSW-1-induced necroptosis through its interaction with RIPK1.CONCLUSION We propose that OSW-1 can induce necroptosis through the RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway,and that this effect is mediated by the RIPK1-p62/SQSTM1 complex,in CRC cells.These results provide a theoretical foundation for the use of OSW-1 in the clinical treatment of CRC.

Comprehensive Evaluation Method for Traffic Flow Data Quality Based on Grey Correlation Analysis and Particle Swarm Optimization

Nowadays,data are more and more used for intelligent modeling and prediction,and the comprehensive evaluation of data quality is getting more and more attention as a necessary means to measure whether the data are usable or not.However,the comprehensive evaluation method of data quality mostly contains the subjective factors of the evaluator,so how to comprehensively and objectively evaluate the data has become a bottleneck that needs to be solved in the research of comprehensive evaluation method.In order to evaluate the data more comprehensively,objectively and differentially,a novel comprehensive evaluation method based on particle swarm optimization(PSO)and grey correlation analysis(GCA)is presented in this paper.At first,an improved GCA evaluation model based on the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution(TOPSIS)is proposed.Then,an objective function model of maximum difference of the comprehensive evaluation values is built,and the PSO algorithm is used to optimize the weights of the improved GCA evaluation model based on the objective function model.Finally,the performance of the proposed method is investigated through parameter analysis.A performance comparison of traffic flow data is carried out,and the simulation results show that the maximum average difference between the evaluation results and its mean value(MDR)of the proposed comprehensive evaluation method is 33.24%higher than that of TOPSIS-GCA,and 6.86%higher than that of GCA.The proposed method has better differentiation than other methods,which means that it objectively and comprehensively evaluates the data from both the relevance and differentiation of the data,and the results more effectively reflect the differences in data quality,which will provide more effective data support for intelligent modeling,prediction and other applications.

Interplay between geometric and electronic structures of Pt entities over TiO_(2) for CO oxidation

Monodispersed Pt colloids with a mean size of 2 nm were deposited uniformly on the {110} facets of a rod-shaped rutile TiO_(2),forming a well-defined Pt/TiO_(2) system.Oxidative treatment of this precursor at elevated temperatures re-dispersed the Pt particles into clusters and single-atoms.Air-calcination at 673 K partially oxidized the Pt particle surface,while calcination at 773 K yielded Pt Oxclusters of 1.6 nm in 7–8 atomic layers.Further calcination at 873 K formed a mixture of raft-like PtO_(x) clusters(1.6 nm,1–2 atomic layers) and cationic single-atoms.When tested for CO oxidation at 373 K,the Pt particles showed a higher activity than the Pt Oxclusters,whereas the cationic single-atoms were much less active.Subsequent H_(2)-reduction at 473 K converted the partially oxidized Pt particles into the metallic species,but they were encapsulated by TiO_(2)–xoverlayers because of the strong metal–support interactions,which decreased the activity dramatically.H_(2)-reduction of the PtO_(x) clusters at473 K enhanced the fraction of metallic Pt species without changing the size and geometry,and promoted the activity substantially.H_(2)-treatment of Pt single-atoms at 473 K increased the activity only moderately because most Pt species still kept at cationic species.These results straightforwardly differentiated the catalytic behavior of Pt particles,clusters and single-atoms at the same metal loading and over the same TiO_(2) support,and further demonstrated that the electronic structures of Pt entities played a decisive role in the catalytic oxidation,in addition to the specified sizes.

Near infrared emissions from both high efficient quantum cutting (173%) and nearly-pure-color upconversion in NaY(WO_(4))_(2):Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+) with thermal management capability for silicon-based solar cells

Raising photoelectric conversion efficiency and enhancing heat management are two critical concerns for siliconbased solar cells.In this work,efficient Yb^(3+) infrared emissions from both quantum cutting and upconversion were demonstrated by adjusting Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+) concentrations,and thermo-manage-applicable temperature sensing based on the luminescence intensity ratio of two super-low thermal quenching levels was discovered in an Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+) codoped tungstate system.The quantum cutting mechanism was clearly decrypted as a two-step energy transfer process from Er^(3+) to Yb^(3+).The two-step energy transfer efficiencies,the radiative and nonradiative transition rates of all interested 4 f levels of Er^(3+) in NaY(WO_(4))_(2) were confirmed in the framework of Föster-Dexter theory,Judd-Ofelt theory,and energy gap law,and based on these obtained efficiencies and rates the quantum cutting efficiency was furthermore determined to be as high as 173%in NaY(WO_(4))_(2):5 mol%Er^(3+)/50 mol%Yb^(3+) sample.Strong and nearly pure infrared upconversion emission of Yb3+under 1550 nm excitation was achieved in Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+)co-doped NaY(WO_(4))_(2) by adjusting Yb^(3+) doping concentrations.The Yb^(3+) induced infrared upconversion emission enhancement was attributed to the efficient energy transfer ^(4)I_(11/2)(Er^(3+))+^(2)F_(7/2)(Yb^(3+))→^(4)I_(15/2)(Er^(3+))+^(2)F_(5/2)(Yb^(3+))and large nonradiative relaxation rate of ^(4)I_(9/2).Analysis on the temperature sensing indicated that the NaY(WO_(4))_(2):Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+)serves well the solar cells as thermos-managing material.Moreover,it was confirmed that the fluorescence thermal quenching of ^(2)H_(11/2)/^(4)S_(3/2) was caused by the nonradiative relaxation of ^(4)S_(3/2).All the obtained results suggest that NaY(WO_(4))_(2):Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+) is an excellent material for silicon-based solar cells to improve photoelectric conversion efficiency and thermal management.

Broad use of lightweight aluminium alloy parts in automobile manufacturing,aerospace,electronic communication,and rail transit is mainly formed through deep drawing process.Deep drawing friction is a key boundary condition for controlling the forming quality of aluminium alloy parts.However,due to the oxidation and adhesion tendency of aluminium alloys,the tribological situations of aluminium alloy deep drawing(AADD)system is more complicated than those of traditional deep drawing of steel sheets.Therefore,the study of AADD friction is essential for manufacturing high-performance aluminium alloy parts.Herein,aiming to provide a valuable reference for researchers in related fields,a comprehensive review of AADD friction is provided,including friction mechanism,influencing factors,friction measurement,friction model,friction simulation,and lubrication-free friction control.Finally,a brief conclusion and several current challenges were discussed.

Ultrasound-driven self-decomposition porphyrins as metal-free CO precursors for gas and sonodynamic synergistic therapy

Carbon monoxide(CO) is an endogenous therapeutic gas with an anti-tumor effect. The precise delivery and controlled release of CO in tumor tissues play crucial roles in anti-cancer treatment. However, efficient in situ generation of CO from metal-free COreleasing molecules(CORMs) remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we develop ultrasound(US)-driven self-decomposition porphyrin as organic and metal-free US-CORMs, which can spatiotemporally control the CO release(347 mmol CO/mol porphyrin) efficiently under physiologically harmless US conditions(1.0 MHz, 1.5 W/cm^(2), 50% duty cycle, 50 min). Moreover,porphyrin as a sonosensitizer can also generate reactive oxygen species(ROS) under US treatment to achieve sonodynamic therapy(SDT). Advanced functions of such porphyrin-based CORMs in CO gas-sonodynamic synergistic treatment have been demonstrated by evaluating the in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor effects.

Facile molybdenum and aluminum recovery from spent hydrogenation catalyst

Industrial catalyst waste has emerged as a hazardous pollutant that requires safe and proper disposal after the unloading process.Finding a valuable and sustainable strategy for its treatment is a significant challenge compared to traditional methods.In this study,we present a facile method for the recovery of molybdenum and aluminum contents from spent Mo-Ni/Al_(2)O_(3) hydrogenation catalysts through crystallization separation and coprecipitation.Furthermore,the recovered molybdenum and aluminum are utilized as active metals and carriers for the preparation of new catalysts.Their properties were thoroughly analyzed and investigated using various characterization techniques.The hydrogenation activity of these newly prepared catalysts was evaluated on a fixed-bed small-scale device and compared with a reference catalyst synthesized from commercial raw reagents.Finally,the hydrogenation activity of the catalysts was further assessed by using the entire distillate oil of coal liquefaction as the raw oil,specifically focusing on denitrogenation and aromatic saturation.This work not only offers an effective solution for recycling catalysts but also promotes sustainable development.
