Global strength is a significant item for floating production storage and offloading(FPSO) design, and steel weight plays an important role in the building co.ts of FPSO. It is the main task to co.sider and co.bine these two aspects by optimizing hull dimensions. There are many optional methods for the global strength analysis. A co.mon method is to use the ABS FPSO Eagle software to analyze the global strength including the rule check and direct strength analysis. And the same method can be adopted for the FPSO hull optimization by changing the depth. After calculation and optimization, the results are co.pared and analyzed. The results can be used as a reference for the future design or quotation purpose.

Dissimilar metal joining between 5A02 aluminum alloy and H62 brass sheets was co.ducted by gas tungsten arc welding with Zn-15% Al and Al-12% Si flux-co.ed filler wires. The microstructure in the weld and distribution of major alloying elements in the intelfacial layer were examined, and the tensile strength of the resultant joints was measured. Pores appeared in the weld made with Zn-15% Al flax-co.ed filler wire, the interracial layer mainly co.sisted of AlCu phase, and the specimens fractured through the weld with tensile strength of 129 MPa. When Al-12% Si flux-co.ed filler wire was used, Cu diffused into the weld and Al2 Cu phase formed, and the specimens fractured along the interfacial layer with tensile strength of 122 MPa.

The effect of seawater after ultraviolet inactivation on co.rosion of a shipbuilding steel plate was investiga- ted by means of natural co.rosion potential experiments and immersion co.rosion test. The effects of natural seawater and treated seawater after ultraviolet inactivation on co.rosion of the selected steel plate samples were co.pared with each other. The results showed that there was no obvious change in the chemical co.position of treated seawater co.pared with natural seawater. The co.rosion potential slightly increased by 10 mV, whereas the co.rosion rate rose significantly by 20~. The experiments verified the naturally formed biofilm in the natural seawater for the inhi- bition of co.rosion on the shipbuilding steel plate. The possible influences of ballast water treatment on biofilm by ul- traviolet and electrolysis inactivation under the co.dition of practical usage were also investigated. And it was found that ballast water treatment methods with no co.tinuous disinfection co.ld protect original tank biofilm structure, reducing the intensity of tank co.rosion.

An Improved Wall Climbing Robot for Ship Rust Removal

Numerical and experimental analyses of hydrodynamic performance of a channel type planing trimaran

This paper presents an improved wall climbing robot for boarding ship rust removal cleaner (WCRSRR). The robot includes two pneumatic motors for driving, two big permanent magnets for adsorption and tow crawlers for walking. Firstly, the design scheme of the improved WCRSRR is proposed, the technical difficulties are pointed out, and the technical route is defined. Seco.dly, the driving principle is planned, and the driving performance is optimized. Finally, the walking obstacle negotiation performance is analyzed, and the graph of the co.parison between the original and improved three sprocket obstacle negotiation performance is proposed. The experiments show that the improved WCRSRR works better than the original WCRSRR, and has the optimal capacity such as the adsorption capacity, driving performance and obstacle negotiation performance.

This paper studies the hydrodynamic performance of a channel type planing trimaran. A numerical simulation is carried out based on a RANS-VOF solver to analyze the hydrodynamic performance of the channel type planing trimaran. A series of hydrodynamic experiments in towing tank were carried out, in which both the running attitude and the resistance performance of the trimaran model were reco.ded. Some hydrodynamic characteristics of the channel type planning trimaran are shown by the results. Firstly, the resistance declines significantly, with the forward speed across the high-speed resistance peak due to the co.bined effects of the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic lifts. Seco.dly, the resistance performance is influenced markedly by the longitudinal positio- ns of centre of the gravity and the displacements. Besides, the pressure distribution on the hull and the two-phase flow in the channel are discussed in the numerical simulations.

Experimental Investigation of the Resistance Performance and Heave and Pitch Motions of Ice-Going co.tainer Ship Under Pack Ice co.ditions

In order to analyze the ice-going ship’s performance under the pack ice co.ditions, synthetic ice was introduced into a towing tank. A barrier using floating cylinder in the towing tank was designed to carry out the resistance experiment. The test results indicated that the enco.ntering frequency between the ship model and the pack ice shifts towards a high-velocity point as the co.centration of the pack ice increases, and this enco.ntering frequency creates an unstable region of the resistance, and the unstable region shifts to the higher speed with the increasing co.centration. The results also showed that for the same speed points, the ratio of the pack ice resistance to the open water resistance increases with the increasing co.centration, and for the same co.centrations, this ratio decreases as the speed increases. Motion characteristics showed that the mean value of the heave motion increases as the speed increases, and the pitch motion tends to increase with the increasing speed. In addition, the total resistance of the fullscale was predicted.

Natural gas hydrates are solid co.pounds with cage-like structures formed by gas and *** intriguing phenomenon that gas hydrates can dissociate at a low rate below the ice freezing point has been viewed as the metastability of *** mechanisms of hydrate metastability have been widely studied,and many mechanisms were proposed involving the self-preservation effect,superco.led water-gas-hydrate metastable equilibrium,and supersaturated liquid-gas-hydrate system *** metastable state of hydrate co.ld be of crucial significance in the kinetics of hydrate formation and deco.position,heat and mass transfer during gas production processes,and the application of hydrate-based technique involving desalination,energy storage and transportation,and gas separation and *** researches have systematically co.sidered this phenomenon,and its mechanism remains *** this work,various mechanisms and hypothesis explaining the metastable state of gas hydrates were introduced and *** studies are still required to reveal the intrinsic nature of this metastable state of gas hydrate,and this work co.ld give some implications on the existing theory and current status of relevant efforts.
