The primary purpose of fertilization in nursery soils is to assure production of high-quality planting stock. Therefore, the appropriate information on fertilizers and their use as well as their effects on seedling growth is important to nursery managers in their nursery practice. In this paper, larch seedling growth response to six fertilizers are discussed based on the results of three-year studies which were carried out at dailing Forest Nursery in 1987.

The static and dynamic diffusion coefficients are important coefficients to describe the moisture transfer processes in particleboard. In this paper, the formula of culculating the static and dynamic diffusion coefficients were deduced. At first, the static diffusion coefficients of four kinds of particleboards were determined by using diffusion cup method. The results demonstrated that the static diffusion coefficients parallel to panel surface were 10-20 times as large as that of perpendicular to panel surface for test boards. To determine both dynamic diffusion coefficients and surface emission coefficients of moisture in particleboards in one experimental period, specimens in four different thicknesses of each kind of particleboard were used in the experiment. Then the method of regression was used and the dynamic diffusion coefficients and surface emission coefficients were determined based on the slope and intercept of the regressive line.

Cornus stolonifera is a ornamental trce species which was introdced to China in 1982. During the period of ten-year cxperiment a complete and systematic study on its botanical features, biological charcteristics, growth rhythm and propagation tcchniques was carried out on basis of the comparison withthe native species Corms alba. The research results showed thatCornus stolonifera has many advantages over Cornus alba in those such as fast growing, cold endurance, drought resistance, easy *** and pest-resistance, beautiful tree form,bright colour branches, long florcscence, persistant fruits and intcgrate visual cffects. Practice has proved that it is reslly a fine species for tree-planting. Not only does it have the function of water conservation, but also its branches can be uscd as a fine wcaving matcrial. Up to the present,about ten thousand plant stocks have bcen planted by more than 30 units in l l cities of 6 provinces and it has been well recicved by people.

Faced with the conflict between the environmental protection and timber production, the concept of new forestry and the effect of new forestry objectives on existing harvesting techniques and equipment have been introduced. Adaptive management-a help tool for developing new harvesting techniques and equipment has been proposed. An adaptive approach for developing a forest harvesting for new forestry should be composed of careful planing, considerable hypotheses, detailed testing and evaluating as well as correct and fast feedback. New forestry practices are by no means easy because the complexity of the problem and almost every thing is new. We will see more successful new harvesting techniques and equipment being developing by adaptive approach for new forestry in the future.

In view of the issue concerns multiple Directed acyclic graphs(DAGs) scheduling in multi-tenant cloud computing environment, a scheduling strategy that integrate security and availability is proposed to satisfy the tenants’ requirements for resource security and availability, as thus it can not only protect the users’ privacy and data security but also advance the success rate. The proposal assesses resource reputation to ensure jobs can be scheduled onto relatively security nodes; during task scheduling, it classifies the DAGs to achieve fairness; in the process of resources allocation, the objective function would maximize the user’s security satisfaction and minimize the deviation of availability; meanwhile, it takes advantage of "time chips" flexibly to promote resource utilization rate; afterwards, we present a Greedy algorithm integrating with security and availability(GISA) to implement the strategy. The experimental results show the correctness and superior of the novel strategy.

The hybridization experiment was initiated in 1975, in which the parents of P davhaana were collectedfrom dailing, Heilongiiang province, P. suaveolens were from Baicheng, P. simonii from Zhaodong of heilongjiang Prov-ince, and P. tremula from Shanxi province. Clones No 1333 of P. Alba x P. davidiana and No 1132 of P davidiana x (Palba x P. davidiana F1) had greater genetic variation and heritability in clones tested.

Segmented taper equations with crown ratio and stand density for Dahurian Larch (Larix gmelinii) in Northeastern China

Segmented taper equation was selected to model stem profile of Dahurian larch （Larix gmelinii Rupr.）. The data were based on stem analysis of 74 trees from dailing Forest bureau in heilongjiang province, Northeastern China. Two taper equations with crown ratio and stand basal area were derived from the Max and Burkhart’s （1976） taper equation. Three taper equations were evaluated：（1） the original equation, （2） the original equation with crown ratio, and （3） the original equation with basal area. SAS NLIN and SYSNLIN procedures were used to fit taper equations. Fit statistics and cross-validation were used to evaluate the accuracy and precision of these models. Parameter estimates showed that the original equation with inclusion of crown ratio and basal area variables provided significantly different parameter estimates with lower standard errors. Overall fit statistics indicated that the root mean square error （RMSE） for diameter outside and inside bark decreased respectively by 10% and 7% in the original model with crown ratio and by 12% and 7.2% in the original model with basal area. Cross-validation further confirmed that the original equation with inclusion of crown ratio and basal area variables provided more accurate predictions at the lower section （relative heights, 10%） and upper section （relative heights, 50%） for both outside and inside bark diameters.

Effect of thinning intensity on the carbon sequestration of natural mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests in Xiaoxing'an Mountains, China

To study the effect of thinning intensity on the carbon sequestration by natural mixed coniferous and broad-leaf forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,China,we established six 100 m×100 m experimental plots in Dongfanghong For-est that varied in thinning intensity:plot A(10%),B(15%),C(20%),D(25%),E(30%),F(35%),and the control sample area(0%).A principal component analysis was performed using 50 different variables,including species diversity,soil fertility,litter characteristics,canopy structure param-eters,and seedling regeneration *** effects of thinning intensity on carbon sequestration were strongest in plot E(0.75),followed by D(0.63),F(0.50),C(0.48),B(0.22),A(0.11),and the control(0.06).The composite score of plot E was the highest,indicating that the carbon sequestration effect was strongest at a thinning intensity of 30%.These findings provide useful insights that could aid the management of natural mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,*** information has implications for future studies of these forests,and the methods used could aid future ecological assessments of the natural forests in Xiaoxing’an Mountains,China.
