Inter-Network Resource Sharing in IEEE 802.22 Networks

IEEE 802.22 is the first worldwide standard for Cognitiv. Networks (CNs) that exploits unused spectrum of the telev.sion broadcast serv.ce. An IEEE 802.22 network is also called Wireless Regional Area Network (WRAN). An open issue in cognitiv. 802.22 networks is represented by the resource distribution among WRANs. In this paper a protocol for radio resource management for CNs in a multichannel env.ronment is presented and analysed. In particular, the contribution of this work is a resource sharing method to schedule the WRAN access to the av.ilable channels in a community made by two o more coexisting WRANs. The method adapts to the continuous changes of the spectrum av.ilability due to necessity of v.cating a channel in case of the incumbent primary users. Moreov.r, the introduced allocation scheme allows to div.de the av.ilable band in a proportional way to the cognitiv. user spectrum demands, taking into account the issue of spatial div.rsity, i.e. the case where the channel cov.rage area is not uniform. The effectiv.ness of the proposed multichannel scheme is prov.d through simulations. The results compared fav.rably with other methods already known in literature and show that the proposed algorithm optimize the spectral efficiency, keeping high fairness as demonstrated computing the Jain’s index.

Channel dropping wav.guide filters based on single and technology are of great interest due to their compactness multiple resonators in silicon-on-insulator （SOI） and high wav.length selectiv.ty, which is a desirable feature for photonic modulators, detectors, and other optically integrated components in telecommu- nication systems, in particular for wav.length div.sion multiplexing （WDM） systems. Particular adv.ntage of these filters is that they are capable of producing relativ.ly large free spectral range （FSR） as well as narrow 3-dB bandwidth of the filter resonances. Herein we sibility of designing mono-mode and （nearly） polarization with the FSR in excess of 30 nm. report experimental results and discuss the posindependent SOI ring and racetrack resonators
