High entropy state of orientationally-disordered clusters in Zr-based bulk metallic glass

A phase transformation of a metastable Zr2Ni intermetallic crystalline phase to vitrify was studied with molecular dynamics(MD)simulations based on a plastic crystal model(PCM),which utilizes the orientational disorder of molecules of plastic crystals in a class of soft *** simulation results showed that computational operations in MD-PCM for the random rotations of the clusters in the crystalline phase around their center of gravity and subsequent annealing lead to form a dense random packing structure from the metastable Zr2Ni *** randomly-rotated clusters provide high degrees of freedom in terms of atomic positions,which results in enhancing the glass-forming ability of the *** critical fraction of the number of rotated clusters for forming the glassy phase(fc~R)is evaluated to be ***,the critical fraction of the number of un-rotated clusters(fc~U=1-fc~R) is close to the critical concentration of site percolation for metallic *** mechanism of the metastable Zr2Ni phase to vitrify with increasing f~R was analyzed with a concept of communal entropy in the free volume theory with solid-and liquid-like cells proposed by Cohen and *** MD-PCM for the metastable Zr2Ni phase suggests that Zr-based bulk metallic glass(BMG)can be regarded as an alloy in a high rotation entropy state of clusters and that glass transition takes place by percolation of the nuclei of a liquid-like glassy phase.

Microstructure and corrosion resistance of sintered Nd15Dy1.2Fe77Al0.8B6 and Nd22Fe71B7 magnets modified by intergranular addition of MgO and ZnO were investigated. Both the remanence and sintering density of the magnets increased slightly with intergranular additions of MgO and ZnO. There was a remarkable increase in coercivity of Nd22Fe71B7 after addition. Besides, the effects on magnetic properties and an improved corrosion resistance were observed. Compared with the native magnets without addition, corrosion potential of the magnets with MgO and ZnO additives was more positive and the current density in the anodic branch of the polarization curve was reduced. Corrosion resistance resulting from autoclave testing （2×10^5 Pa of steam pressure, 120 ℃） showed that the corrosion rate of NdFeB magnets reduced with the increase of additive amount. Microstructure observation revealed that MgO and ZnO additives were incorporated into the intergranular phases in the magnets. With the introduction of MgO and ZnO, more intergranular phase with high oxygen content was formed while keeping the volume fraction of all the intergranular phases almost unchanged, which may contribute to improved corrosion resistance. Furthermore, addition of MgO and ZnO refined the grain size of Nd22Fe71B7.

LiFePO4/C microspheres with different surface morphologies and porosities were prepared from different carbon sources. The effects of the surface morphology and pore structure of the microspheres on their electrochemical properties and electrode density were investigated. The electrochemical performance and electrode density depended on the morphology and pore structure of the LiFePO4/C microspheres. Open-pore LiFePO4/C microspheres with rough surfaces exhibited good adhesion with current collectors and a high electrode density （2.6g/cm3）. They also exhibited high performance in a half cell and full battery with a high volumetric energy density.

Solidification cracking that occurs during continuous casting of 1Cr13 stainless steel was investigated with and without final elec- tromagnetic stirring （F-EMS）. The results show that cracks initiates and propagates along the grain boundaries where the elements of carbon and sulfur are enriched. The final stirrer should be appropriately placed at a location that is 7.5 m away from the meniscus, and the appropri- ate thickness of the liquid core in the stirring zone is 50 ram. As a stirring current of 250 A is imposed, it can promote colurnnar-equiaxed transition, decrease the secondary dendrite arm spacing, and reduce the segregation of both carbon and sulfur. F-EMS can effectively de- crease the amount of cracks in 1Cr13 stainless steel.

The rapid advances in the understanding of oncogenic process and the maturation of affordable precision diagnostic tools have enabled the development of targeted therapeutic agents,such as those targeting BCR-ABL,epithelial growth factor receptor L858R,EML4-anaplastic lymphoma kinase,and BRAF V600E,to treat cancers that harbor specific molecular ***,each targeted drug has been developed for a particular tumor type where such alteration is most frequently ***,the widespread adoption of next generation sequencing has led to an increase in the identification of rare and ultra-rare alterations,and,in some cases,the same rare alterations are found across multiple tumor *** rarity of these alterations makes clinical trials traditionally designed for specific tumor types *** a result,tissue-agnostic trials have been developed to study the efficacy of these treatments and increase patient *** review summarizes current successful cases of tissue-agnostic development,such as drugs targeting tropomyosin receptor kinase fusions,and proposes the next wave of potential tissue-agnostic targets,including fusions of ROS1,anaplastic lymphoma kinase,fibroblast growth factor receptor,and rearranged during *** addition,the advantages and the challenges of such approach are discussed in the context of clinical development and approval.

Background： The goal of this study was to compare the antagonism of elevated dietary Cu （250 mg/kg） from CuS04 on three different Zn sources （ZnS04. H20; [Zn bis（-2-hydroxy-4-（methylthio）butanoic acid）], Zn（HMTBa）2 a chelated Zn methionine hydroxy analogue; and Zn-Methionine）, as measured using multiple indices of animal performance in ROSS 308 broilers. Methods： Three experiments were conducted in broiler chicks fed a semi-purified diet. All birds were fed a Zn-deficient diet （8.5 mg/kg diet） for 1 wk, and then provided with the experimental diets for 2 wks. Results： Experiment 1 was a 2 x 2 factorial design with two levels of Cu （8 vs. 250 mg/kg diet from CuSO4） and two Zn sources at 30 mg/kg [ZnSO4. H20 vs. Zn（HMTBa）2]. Elevated Cu impaired growth performance only in birds fed ZnSO4. Compared to ZnSO4. H20, Zn（HMTBa）2 improved feed intake （12 %; P 〈 0.001） and weight gain （12 %, P 〈 0.001） and the benefits were more pronounced in the presence of 250 mg/kg diet Cu. Experiment 2 was a dose titration of ZnSO4- H20 and Zn（HMTBa）2 at 30, 4,5, 60, and 75 mg/kg diet in the presence of 250 mg/kg CuSO4. Feed：gain was decreased and tibia Zn was increased with increasing Zn levels from 30 to 75 mg/kg. Birds fed Zn（HMTBa）2 consumed more food and gained more weight compared to birds fed ZnSO4, especially at lower supplementation levels （30 and 45 mg/kg; interaction P 〈 0,05）. Experiment 3 compared two organic Zn sources （Zn（HMTBa）2 vs. Zn-Methionine） at 30 mg/kg with or without 250 mg/kg CuSO4. No interactions were observed between Zn sources and Cu levels on performance or tissue mineral concentrations. High dietary Cu decreased weight gain （P 〈 0.01）. Tibia Cu and liver Cu were significantly increased with 250 mg/kg dietary Cu supplementation （P 〈 0.01）. No difference was observed between the two Zn sources. Conclusions： Dietary 250 mg/kg Cu significantly impaired feed intake and weight gain in birds fed ZnSO4. H20, but had less impact in birds fed Zn（HMTBa）2. No difference

In view of the previous studies on the migrations of impurity aluminum(Al)and copper(Cu)in purification of rare earth metal by solid-state electrotransport(SSE),there are still some questions about that which direction they migrate to and whether there are significant migrations or *** metal lanthanum(La)was used as research object,and the effects of migration temperature and time on the distributions and migration regularities of impurity Al and Cu were investigated in the present study by increasing concentration of impurity Al and Cu in raw metal *** impurity migration direction and removal difficulty were intuitively judged by the residual rate distribution curve of *** is indicated that metal impurity Al and Cu in metal La at 800℃ with direct current are found to significantly migrate to anode and their residual rates near cathode decrease with the increase in migration temperature and prolongation of migration *** relatively large vapor pressure of Al and Cu makes their residual rate distribution curves being low in middle and high in *** metal La was continuously purified for 100 h at 800℃ by SSE,the residual rates of impurity Al and Cu at 20 mm from cathode are 68.43%and 57.43%,respectively,showing that Cu is much easier to be removed than Al.

Non-oriented silicon steel （35W310） and amorphous ribbon （FeT8 Si9B13 amorphous alloy） reactor U-cores are made by welding and dipping paint curing, respectively. Amorphous U-core used to make reactor cut sharply ed-dy current loss due to high electrical resistivity characteristic, thickness of thin ribbon and insulation of dipping paint. The amorphous alloy has high and constant magnetic permeability, and is more suitable for reactor design power to filter high order harmonic component. Keeping off high magnetostriction district with magnetic flux density of 50-100 mT can weaken influence on inductance of inductor due to elongation of magnetostriction. Amorphous al-loy has a lower temperature rise using the software Infolytica 7.2 simulation.

LiNiO2(LNO) is recognized as the most promising cathode material for next-generation lithium-ion batteries owing to its highest energy density and economic benefit in the layered oxide cathode materials ***, severe cation disordering, multiple phase transformations and poor lithium-ion diffusion kinetics,which result in rapid degradation of cycling stabilities and rate properties, hinder its further practical applications. Cobalt doping is an effective strategy to address such issues, but the influences of cobalt on LNO materials have not been figured out completely yet. Hence, a systematical investigation of cobalt doping for LiNiO2cathode materials prepared by spray pyrolysis is conducted. The addition of cobalt enhances the stabilities of layered structures and suppresses the cation disordering effectively. The multiple-phase transformations during cycling are also alleviated significantly. Furthermore, cobalt doping can decrease charge transfer resistances and improve lithium-ion diffusion kinetics, especially at high de-lithiation states. As a result, the electrochemical performances are improved comprehensively after cobalt doping. The LNO with optimal doping amount exhibits an improved capacity retention of 78.0% after 100 cycles as compared with 64.9% for pristine LNO, and an outstanding rate performance of 167.2 mA h g-1with the current density of 5 C(1 C = 200 mA g-1).
