Compositional colored Petri net approach to multiscale modeling for systems biology

Colored Petri nets have been demonstrated as a powerful tool for modeling multiscale systems biology.However,the construction of colored Petri nets for biological systems requires prior knowledge about colored Petri nets and is often error-prone and cum-bersome for biologists,especially when the communication between components and hierarchical organization of components in a multiscale model are an issue.To address this problem,an established way is to develop small components and then compose them into bigger models.In this paper,we present a compositional colored Petri net approach to aid automatic modeling of systems biology,and demonstrate it with two case stud-ies.We focus on the modeling of communication between components and hierarchical organization of components as they are key to build multiscale models.

Although much attention has been paid to investigating and controlling air pollution in China, the trends of air-pollutant concentrations on a national scale have remained unclear. Here, we quantitatively investigated the variation of air pollutants in China using long-term comprehensive data sets from 2013 to 2017, during which Chinese government made major efforts to reduce anthropogenic emission in polluted regions. Our results show a significant decreasing trend in the PM2.5concentration in heavily polluted regions of eastern China, with an annual decrease of ～7% compared with measurements in 2013. The measured decreased concentrations of SO2, NO2and CO(a proxy for anthropogenic volatile organic compounds) could explain a large fraction of the decreased PM2.5concentrations in different regions. As a consequence, the heavily polluted days decreased significantly in corresponding regions. Concentrations of organic aerosol,nitrate, sulfate, ammonium and chloride measured in urban Beijing revealed a remarkable reduction from 2013 to 2017, connecting the decreases in aerosol precursors with corresponding chemical components closely. However, surface-ozone concentrations showed increasing trends in most urban stations from 2013 to 2017, which indicates stronger photochemical pollution. The boundary-layer height in capital cities of eastern China showed no significant trends over the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions from 2013 to 2017, which confirmed the reduction in anthropogenic emissions. Our results demonstrated that the Chinese government was successful in the reduction of particulate matter in urban areas from 2013 to 2017, although the ozone concentration has increased significantly, suggesting a more complex mechanism of improving Chinese air quality in the future.

Electrochemical NO-to-NH_(3) under ambient conditions could be a viable alternative having advantages in terms of energy consumption and exhaust gas recycling of NO,replacing a traditional ammonia synthesis method of the Haber–Bosch process.In synthesizing boron(B-)and nitrogen(N-)co-doped carbon nanotube(CNT)based gold(Au)catalysts,B-dopants elevate the conductivity of carbon nanotube by sp2 hybridization on graphene and implant B–N domains within the graphene layer,and result in facilitating the embedding amount of Au accompanied by high dispersibility with low particle size.Theoretical density functional theory(DFT)calculations elucidate that the electron cloud transmitted from B-dopant to the active site of Au induces the Lewis acidic site,and the O-distal pathway occurs following a spontaneous reaction.Increment of the electron-deficient B-doping area accompanied by N-defects and B–O edges retains the major valence state of Au as Au^(δ+),and suppresses hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)by repulsing the hindrance of H*.This record exhibits the highest faradaic efficiency(FE)of 94.7%,and NH_(3) yield rate of 1877.4μg·h^(-1)·mg_(cat)^(-1),which is the optimal yield over energy consumption in the field of the ambient reduction of aqueous NO.

In this paper, we propose an image-based visual servo control scheme for precise regulation of the displacement of a quadrotor aerial vehicle with respect to a target object. A pan-tilt camera is used to partially decouple camera orientation and quadrotor maneuver to ensure holonomic dynamics of the overall system. Observable features on the target are exploited to derive an image-based visual servo control law which satisfies the field of view constraints even under coarse depth estimation. simulation results are provided to illustrate and validate the performance of the proposed control scheme.

Volatile organic compounds（VOCs） are crucial to control air pollution in major Chinese cities since VOCs are the dominant factor influencing ambient ozone level, and also an important precursor of secondary organic aerosols. Vehicular evaporative emissions have become a major and growing source of VOC emissions in China. This study consists of lab tests, technology evaluation, emissions modeling, policy projections and cost-benefit analysis to draw a roadmap for China for controlling vehicular evaporative emissions. The analysis suggests that evaporative VOC emissions from China＇s light-duty gasoline vehicles were approximately 185,000 ton in 2010 and would peak at 1,200,000 ton in 2040 without control. The current control strategy implemented in China, as shown in business as usual（BAU） scenario, will barely reduce the long-term growth in emissions. Even if Stage II gasoline station vapor control policies were extended national wide（BAU ＋ extended Stage II）, there would still be over 400,000 ton fuel loss in 2050. In contrast, the implementation of on-board refueling vapor recovery（ORVR） on new cars could reduce 97.5% of evaporative VOCs by 2050（BAU ＋ ORVR/BAU ＋ delayed ORVR）. According to the results, a combined Stage II and ORVR program is a comprehensive solution that provides both short-term and long-term benefits. The net cost to achieve the optimal total evaporative VOC control is approximately 62 billion CNY in 2025 and 149 billion CNY in 2050.

In order to balance the contradiction between the demand of high precision and that of short time interval of model computing for the power plant simulator, a set of simulated mathematical models are constructed. The model describes the cylinder wall temperature located at four key positions of the high pressure cylinder. The simulated model is confirmed to be not only simple but also precise via comparison between the simulated results and the autoptic data of a power plant.

In this paper, we study the problem of tracking and encircling a moving target by agents in the 3-dimensional space.Specifically, a group of agents are driven to a regular tetrahedron formation on a spherical surface and simultaneously keep the center of this spherical formation coinciding with the target to be tracked. In the proposed method, to avoid the singularity caused by spherical parameterisations in control, we directly consider the spherical formation in space S2. Besides, the protocol proposed does not contain any information of the desired formation beforehand. Rather the constructed formation pattern is attributed to the properties of space S2 and the inter-agent topology.

An integrated guidance and control model for missile control system design is established in this paper. Finite-time stability theory is used to design a finite-time convergent guidance and control law based on the proposed model. Some simulation tests are done to verify the validity of the control law designed in this paper and the advantages compared with other guidance laws. The results show the control designed in this paper can satisfy the terminal indicators accurately.

This paper designs a MCU-based robot fish with caudal fin in order to model the robot fish and verify the related control methods. Firstly, this paper presents an overall design according to the functions required and then chooses the ideal servo motor after calculating its parameters based on the amplitude and frequency of the sine law. In addition, the controller, the inertial navigation model, the wireless communication model, the power supply, the electric circuit and the shell is designed and implemented considering of the limitation of the speed, interface, and cost and so on. In the software design, this paper solves the problem that the MCU is inefficient on the calculation of the float with the method of looking up the sine table, so that the SPWM wave drives the servo motor smoothly. With the program of IIC and SPI bus on the MCU and the control program based on Labview on PC, this paper realizes the wireless communication between the robot fish and PC, making the data collection and remote control possible. In the last, the robot fish is tested.
