INTRODUCTION The general public is exposed to a variety of chemicals, including food additives,contaminants, and pesticides. To protect the public from any health hazards associ ated with these chemicals, toxicities are assessed by national regulatory agencies andat an international level by the World Health Organization (WHO) in conjunctionwith the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Quali-Site is a decision process tool to reduce the potential for exposure of operators to chemical hazards due to handling pesticides in the seed treatment *** tool focuses on analysing real work practices of operators and assessing skin and respiratory exposure levels in these practices using a tracer,fludioxonil(a fungicide widely used in seed treatment industry).A formal evaluation of the tool has been conducted by an ergo-toxicologist in a pilot project covering 3 different seed treatment *** management techniques have been used to transfer improved practices via the decision tool to about twenty five percent of the French seed treatment industry in less than 3 years.
