This paper describes a conceptual design study for the circuit configuration of the Error Field Correction Coil （EFCC） power supply （PS） to maximize the expected performance with reasonable cost in JT-60SA. The EFCC consists of eighteen sector coils installed inside the vacuum vessel, six in the toroidal direction and three in the poloidal direction, each one rated for 30 kA-turn. As a result, star point connection is proposed for each group of six EFCC coils installed cyclically in the toroidal direction for decoupling with poloidal field coils. In addition~ a six phase inverter which is capable of controlling each phase current was chosen as PS topology to ensure higher flexibility of operation with reasonable cost.

In this paper we present a coupled Finite Element Method–Boundary Element Method(FEM-BEM)approach for the solution of the free-boundary axi-symmetric plasma equilibrium *** proposed method,obtained from an improvement of the Hagenow-Lackner coupling method,allows to efficiently model the equilibrium problem in unbounded domains by discretizing only the plasma region;the external conductors can be modelled either as 2D or 3D models,according to the problem of in*** paper explores different iterative methods for the solution of the nonlinear Grad-Shafranov equation,such as Picard,Newton-Raphson and Newton-Krylov,in order to provide a robust and reliable tool,able to handle large-scale problems(*** resolution equilibria).This method has been implemented in the FRIDA code(FReeboundary Integro-Differential Axisimmetric–https://***/matteobonotto/FRIDA),together with a suitable Adaptive Integration Technique(AIT)for the computation of the source *** has been successfully tested and validated against experimental data from rfx-mod device,and numerical equilibria of an ITER-like device.

A superconducting coil system is actually complicated by the distributed parameters, e.g. the distributed mutual inductance among turns and the distributed capacitance between adjacent conductors. In this paper, such a complicated system was modeled with a reasonably simplified circuit network with lumped parameters. Then, a detailed circuit analysis was conducted to evaluate the possible voltage transient in the coil circuit. As a result, an appropriate （minimum） snubber capacitance for the Switching Network Unit, which is a fast high voltage generation circuit in JT-60SA, was obtained.

We describe and experimentally demonstrate a measuring technique for Mach–Zehnder interferometer(MZI)based integrated photonic biochemical sensors. Our technique is based on the direct measurement of phase changes between the arms of the MZI, achieved by signal modulation on one of the arms of the interferometer together with pseudoheterodyne detection, and it allows us to avoid the use of costly equipment such as tunable light sources or spectrum analyzers. The obtained output signal is intrinsically independent of wavelength, power variations, and global thermal variations, making it extremely robust and adequate for use in real conditions. Using a silicon-on-insulator MZI, we demonstrate the real-time monitoring of refractive index variations and achieve a detection limit of 4.1 × 10^(-6)refractive index units(RIU).

A synthetic metalloporphine was immobilized onto a PVA-based and mercapto-grafted solid support, emulating the active site of cytochrome P450. Its ligninolytic peroxidase-like catalytic activity was studied. The coordinated mercapto ligand significantly affected the catalytic features of the catalyst because the oxidation of lignin-model compounds was very slow by comparison with imidazoleand pyridine-coordinated immobilized metalloporphines. Conversely, the catalyst efficiently bleached several industrial dyes and thus demonstrated promising activity for this application. Based on this altered substrate specificity the oxygen-donor catalytic route seems to be more favorable than a single electron oxidation pathway.

Modem smart environments pose several challenges,among which the design of intelligent algorithms aimed to assist the *** a variety of points of interest are available,for instance,trajectory recommendations are needed to suggest users the most suitable itineraries based on their interests and contextual *** in many cases,these interests must be explicitly requested and their lack causes the so-called cold-start ***,lengthy travelling distances and excessive crowdedness of specific points of interest make itinerary planning more *** address these aspects,a multi-agent itinerary suggestion system that aims at assisting the users in an online and collaborative way is proposed.A profiling agent is responsible for the detection of groups of users whose movements are characterised by similar semantic,spatial and temporal features;then,a recommendation agent leverages contextual information and dynamically associates the current user with the trajectory clusters according to a Multi-Armed Bandit policy;Framing the trajectory recommendation as a reinforcement learning problem permits to provide high-quality suggestions while avoiding both cold-start and preference elicitation *** effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated by some deployments in real-life scenarios,such as smart campuses and theme parks.

Probing the Young＇s modulus and Poisson＇s ratio in graphene/metal interfaces and graphite： A comparative study

By analyzing phonon dispersion, we have evaluated the average Young＇s modulus and Poisson＇s ratio in graphite and in graphene grown on Ru（0001）, Pt（111）, Ir（111）, Ni（111）, and BC3/NbB2（0001）. In both flat and corrugated graphene sheets and in graphite, we find a Poisson＇s ratio of 0.19 and a Young＇s modulus of 342 N/m. The unique exception is graphene/Ni（111）, for which we find different values because of the stretching of C-C bonds occurring in the commensurate overstructure （0.36 and 310 N/m for the Poisson＇s ratio and Young＇s modulus, respectively）. Such findings are in excellent agreement with calculations performed for a free-standing graphene membrane. The high crystalline quality of graphene grown on metal substrates leads to macroscopic samples with high tensile strength and bending flexibility for use in technological applications such as electromechanical devices and carbon-fiber reinforcements.

Cd1-xMnxTe/CdTe superlattices and thin films were grown by molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs （001） substrates. Spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements were performed on Cd1-x Mnx Te/ CdTe superlattices with compositions x = 0.4, 0.8, and Cd1-xMnx Te thin films with x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 at room temperature in the photon energy range 1.4-5 eV. In superlattices the pseudodielectric functions measured by ellipsometry show specific features related to the exciton transition between quantized interbands. The exciton transitions related to the heavy holes of 11 H, 22H, and 33H are observed and identified. In thin films spectroscopic ellipsometry allows the clear identification of the energy gap Eo. Additionally, critical point transitions are observable in both the spectra of the superlattices and films. Photoreflectance spectra were also performed at room temperature in order to compare with our ellipsometry results. After taking into account the strain-induced and quantum confinement effects, the theoretical calculations are in good agreement with our experimental spectra. Ellipsometry appears to be a suited technique to monitor the MBE growth, ultimately also in situ, of diluted magnetic low-dimensional systems.
