Mechanistic investigation on Hg^(0) capture over MnO_(x) adsorbents:effects of the synthesis methods

This study demonstrated the impacts of the synthesis methods on the textural structures,chemical properties,and Hg^(0)capture capability of the MnO_(x)*** with the samples synthesized using the precipitation(PR)and hydrothermal(HT)methods,the adsorbent prepared via the sol-gel(SG)technique gave the best *** 150℃,ca.90%Hg^(0)removal efficiency was reached after 7.5 h for MnO_(x)prepared by the SG method,ca.40%higher than that of the other two *** specific surface area of the adsorbent synthesized via the SG technique(23 m^(2)/g)was almost double that of the adsorbent prepared by the HT method(12 m^(2)/g)and three times that of the one prepared by the PR method(7 m^(2)/g).The presence of plentiful acid sites from the SG method facilitated the physisorption of Hg^(0),making more Hg^(0)available to be oxidized to HgO by the redox sites and thus giving the adsorbent prepared by the SG method the highest Hg^(0)removal *** strong oxidative ability accelerated the oxidation of the physically adsorbed Hg^(0)to HgO,which explained the higher Hg^(0)removal efficiency of the sample prepared using the HT method than that of the one synthesized by the PR *** the whole Hg^(0)removal cycles,chemisorption dominated,with the initial adsorption stage and the external mass-transfer process playing important roles.

Machine learning(ML)is increasingly applied for medical image processing with appropriate learning *** applications include analyzing images of various organs,such as the brain,lung,eye,etc.,to identify specific flaws/diseases for *** primary concern of ML applications is the precise selection of flexible image features for pattern detection and region *** of the extracted image features are irrelevant and lead to an increase in computation ***,this article uses an analytical learning paradigm to design a Congruent Feature Selection Method to select the most relevant image *** process trains the learning paradigm using similarity and correlation-based features over different textural intensities and pixel *** similarity between the pixels over the various distribution patterns with high indexes is recommended for disease ***,the correlation based on intensity and distribution is analyzed to improve the feature selection ***,the more congruent pixels are sorted in the descending order of the selection,which identifies better regions than the ***,the learning paradigm is trained using intensity and region-based similarity to maximize the chances of ***,the probability of feature selection,regardless of the textures and medical image patterns,is *** process enhances the performance of ML applications for different medical image *** proposed method improves the accuracy,precision,and training rate by 13.19%,10.69%,and 11.06%,respectively,compared to other models for the selected *** mean error and selection time is also reduced by 12.56%and 13.56%,respectively,compared to the same models and dataset.

Microbes on fresh apples are closely associated with fruit disease,preservation,and quality *** into the microbial commu-nities on apples from different producing regions could reveal the microbial specificity and help disease prevention and quality *** this paper,the apple surface microbes of 44 samples from two main Chinese apple-producing regions,Bohai Bay(BHB)and the Loess Plateau(LP),were investigated by sequencing fungal internal transcribed spacer and bacterial 16s rRNA hypervariable *** and LP apples con-tained significantly different bacterial and fungal *** apples had a higher fungal diversity than LP apples.A total of 102 different fungal and bacterial taxonomies were obtained between apples from the two regions,in which 24 genera were *** apples had higher phytopathogenic fungal genera,such as Tilletiopsis,Acremonium,Candida,and Phoma,indicating the higher phytopathogenic risks of apples from the humid climate of the BHB *** apples contained more bacterial genera identified as gut microbes,indicating the potential risks of contaminating apples with foodborne pathogens in the arid environment of the LP This study highlighted the environment-oriented mi-crobial specificity on apples from two main apple-producing regions,and provided a basis for further investigation.

Locating method of fire source for spontaneous combustion of sulfide ores

in order to achieve a more efficient way to accurately detect the position of the fire source of spontaneous combustion underground mine, a simple fire source locating method, based on infrared scanning system which can determine the point where the highest temperature on the surface of igniting ores occurs, was proposed. First, the differential equations that describe heat flow in ore body were presented and the relationship between the surface temperature distribution and the depth and intensity of inner fire source was established with a relatively simple heat transfer model. With the solution of equation, the expression of the relationship between the surface temperature distribution and the inner fire source was deduced and the mathematical-physical model of heat transfer process was set up. Then, with the model, visualization of fire source on the basis of MATLAB simulation platform was realized. The results show that： 1） within 10 m, when the detecting depth is less than 2 m, the temperature perturbation on ores surface can change rapidly, and then slowly; after 4 m, in contrast, it changes very little, and is even close to zero at 10 m; 2） When it is close to self-ignition duration and the detective depths are 2, 5 and 10 m, respectively, the maximum temperature differences are correspondingly 0.5, 0.04 and 0.005 ℃ in the scope of 1 m×1 m; under the same condition, the maximum temperature differences are 1.391, 0.136 and 0.018 ℃, respectively, in the scope of 2 m×2 m. Therefore, this system can be used to measure the temperature differences on the surface of ore body and determine the highest temperature point directly. Also, it is possible to determine the depth of fire source and its intensity by locating method of fire source indirectly.

Winter jujube(Ziziphus jujuba'Dongzao')is greatly appreciated by consumers for its excellent quality,but brand infringement frequently occurs in the ***,we first determined a total of 38 elements in 167 winter jujube samples from the main winter jujube producing areas of China by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).As a result,16 elements(Mg,K,Mn,Cu,Zn,Mo,Ba,Be,As,Se,Cd,Sb,Ce,Er,Tl,and Pb)exhibited significant differences in samples from different producing *** linear discriminant analysis(LDA)and orthogonal projection to latent structures discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)showed better performance in identifying the origin of samples than unsupervised principal component analysis(PCA).LDA and OPLS-DA had a mean identification accuracy of 87.84 and 94.64%in the testing set,*** using the multilayer perceptron(MLP)and C5.0,the prediction accuracy of the models could reach 96.36 and 91.06%,*** on the above four chemometric methods,Cd,Tl,Mo and Se were selected as the main variables and principal markers for the origin identification of winter ***,this study demonstrates that it is practical and precise to identify the origin of winter jujube through multi-element fingerprint analysis with chemometrics,and may also provide reference for establishing the origin traceability system of other fruits.

Tribological Properties of Ti-DLC Coatings on Piston-pin Surfaces

A magnetically filtered cathode vacuum arc deposition system was used to deposit Ti-doped diamond-like carbon coatings(Ti-DLC)on pin surfaces to improve the wear resistance of high-power density diesel engine piston *** coating structure,composition,and morphology were characterised using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Raman spectroscopy,and other *** tests were carried out using a universal tribometer to study the tribological properties of pins with or without coatings under dry friction and oil *** surface morphology and cross-sectional morphology of the Ti-DLC coating show that the coating has a uniform crosssection and good surface *** XPS spectrum shows that the coating contains Ti-C,Ti-C*,sp2-C,sp3-C,and C-O/C=*** spectroscopy shows that there is an amorphous carbon phase in the Ti-DLC *** friction test shows that the friction temperature increase of the pin with the Ti-DLC coating is lower than that without the coating,especially under dry-friction *** the end of the test,the difierence in temperature increase is 16.7%.The friction coefficient when using high-viscosity lubricating oil with a coating is relatively lower than that without a coating,especially under low-speed and heavy-duty *** the dryfriction state,the coated surface has better wear resistance than the uncoated surface,which primarily manifests as abrasive wear,and the surface without a coating mainly experiences adhesive wear.

Lithium metal batteries(LMBs) are emerging as a promising energy storage solution owing to their high energy density and specific capacity. However, the non-uniform plating of lithium and the potential rupture of the solid–electrolyte interphase(SEI) during extended cycling use may result in dendrite growth, which can penetrate the separator and pose significant short-circuit risks. Forming a stable SEI is essential for the long-term operation of the batteries. Fluorine-rich SEI has garnered significant attention for its ability to effectively passivate electrodes, regulate lithium deposition, and inhibit electrolyte corrosion. Understanding the structural components and preparation methods of existing fluorinated SEI is crucial for optimizing lithium metal anode performance. This paper reviews the research on optimizing LiF passivation interfaces to protect lithium metal anodes. It focuses on four types of compositions in fluorinated SEI that work synergistically to enhance SEI performance. For instance, combining compounds with LiF can further enhance the mechanical strength and ionic conductivity of the SEI. Integrating metals with LiF significantly improves electrochemical performance at the SEI/anode interface, with a necessary focus on reducing electron tunneling risks. Additionally, incorporating polymers with LiF offers balanced improvements in interfacial toughness and ionic conductivity, though maintaining structural stability over long cycles remains a critical area for future research. Although alloys combined with LiF increase surface energy and lithium affinity, challenges such as dendrite growth and volume expansion persist. In summary, this paper emphasizes the crucial role of interfacial structures in LMBs and offers comprehensive guidance for future design and development efforts in battery technology.
