Tunable Band Gap in Piezoelectric Composite Rod Based on the Inter-Coupling Effect

The longitudinal wave propagating in one-dimensional periodic piezoelectric composite rod with inter-coupling between different piezoelectric segments is investigated. The analytical formulae for such a structure are shown and the dispersion relation is calculated. The results show that, by introducing the inter-coupling between the different piezoelectric segments, which is accomplished by serially connecting every n piezoelectric segment into supercells, some tunable Bragg band gaps can accordingly be opened in the low frequency region. The investigation could provide a new guideline for the tunable phononic crystal under passive control.

Disorder inevitably exists in realistic samples,manifesting itself in various exotic properties for the topological *** this paper,we summarize and briefly review the work completed over the last few years,including our own,regarding recent developments in several topics about disorder effects in topological *** weak disorder,the robustness of topological states is demonstrated,especially for both quantum spin Hall states with Z2 = 1 and size induced nontrivial topological insulators with Z2 = *** moderate disorder,by increasing the randomness of both the impurity distribution and the impurity induced potential,the topological insulator states can be created from normal metallic or insulating *** phenomena and their mechanisms are *** strong disorder,the disorder causes a metal-insulator *** to their topological nature,the phase diagrams are much richer in topological state ***,the trends in these areas of disorder research are discussed.

This paper proposes a scheme for the implementation of 1→ 3 optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning with trapped ions. In the present protocol, the required time for the whole procedure is short due to the resonant interaction, which is important in view of decoherence. Furthermore, the scheme is feasible based on current technologies.

NiZnO thin films are grown on c-plane sapphire substrates by using a photo-assisted metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD)*** effect of the Ni content on the crystalline,optical and electrical properties of the films are researched in *** NiZnO films could retain a basic wurtzite structure when the Ni content is less than *** Ni content increases,crystal quality degradation could be observed in the x-ray diffraction patterns and a clear red shift of the absorption edge can be observed in the transmittance ***,the donor defects in the NiZnO film can be compensated for effectively by increasing the Ni *** change of Ni content has an important effect on the properties of NiZnO films.

Two-dimensional （2D） closed-cavity single quantum well （SQW） and multiple quantum well （MQW） structures are proposed based on the traditional 2D open-cavity SQW structures of photonic crystals. The numerical calculation results show that the proposed structures can greatly improve the optical characteristics compared with the traditional structures. It is found that the barrier thickness has a great impact on the optical characteristics of the closed-cavity MQW structures： when the barrier thickness is narrower, each resonant peak which appears in the SQW would split, the number of split times is just equal to the number of wells, and each well in the MQW structures is a travelling-wave-well, similar to the well in the open-cavity SQW structures; when the barrier thickness is wider, there is no effect of spectral splitting, and each well in the MQW structures is a standing-wave-well, just like the well in the closed-cavity SQW. The physical origin of different field distributions and the effect of the spectral splitting are provided.

The cold atom gravimeter offers the prospect of a new generation of inertial sensors for field applications. We ac- complish a mobile atom gravimeter. With the compact and stable system, a sensitivity of 1.4× 10-7 ***-1/2 is achieved. Moreover, a continuous gravity monitoring of 80 h is carried out. However, the harsh outdoor environment is a big challenge for the atom gravimeter when it is for field applications. In this paper, we present the preliminary investigation of the thermal adaptability for our mobile cold atom gravimeter. Here, we focus on the influence of the air temperature on the performance of the atom gravimeter. The responses to different factors （such as laser power, fiber coupling efficiency, etc.） are evaluated when there is a great temperature shift of 10 ℃. The result is that the performances of all the factors deteriorate to different extent, nevertheless, they can easily recover as the temperature comes back. Finally, we conclude that the variation of air temperature induces the increase of noise and the system error of the atom gravimeter as well, while the process is reversible with the recovery of the temperature.

We theoretically investigate the high-order harmonic generation from stretched molecules in a linearly polarized intense field. By adopting an infrared pulse combined with an ultraviolet （UV） attosecond pulse, the ionization process can be controlled effectively. In this excitation scheme, the harmonic spectrum beyond Ip ＋ 3.17Up is significantly enhanced by two orders, where Ip and Up = e^2E0^2/（4mew^2） are the ionization and ponderomotive potential, then smooth broadband supercontinuum with the bandwidth of about 120 eV is obtained, which leads to an isolated sub-60- as attosecond pulse with a high signal-noise ratio. Moreover, the bandwidth of the supercontinuum is weakly dependent on the location and pulse duration of the UV pulse.

By combining first-principles calculations with the particle swarm optimization algorithm, we predicted a hexagonal Pˉ3m1 structure for Tc B, which is energetically more favorable than the previously reported WC-type and Cmcm *** new phase is mechanically and dynamically stable, as confirmed by its phonon and elastic constants *** calculated mechanical properties show that it is an ultra-incompressible and hard material. Meanwhile, the elastic anisotropy is investigated by the shear anisotropic factors and ratio of the directional bulk modulus. Density of states analysis reveals that the strong covalent bonding between Tc and B atoms plays a leading role in forming a hard material. Additionally, the compressibility, bulk modulus, Debye temperature, Gruneisen parameter, specific heat, and thermal expansion coefficient of Tc B are also successfully obtained by using the quasi-harmonic Debye model.
