Suppression of Andreev conductance in a topological insulator–superconductor nanostep junction

When two three-dimensional topological insulators （TIs） are brought close to each other with their surfaces aligned, the surfaces form a line junction. Similarly, three TI surfaces, not lying in a single plane, can form an atomic-scale nanostep junction. In this paper, Andreev reflection in a TI-TI-superconductor nanostep junction is investigated theoretically. Be- cause of the existence of edge states along each line junction, the conductance for a nanostep junction is suppressed. When the incident energy （e） of an electron is larger than the superconductor gap （A）, the Andreev conductance in a step junction is less than unity while for a plane junction it is unity. The Andreev conductance is found to depend on the height of the step junction. The Andreev conductance exhibits oscillatory behavior as a function of the junction height with the amplitude of the oscillations remaining unchanged when e = 0, but decreasing for e = A, which is different from the case of the plane junction. The height of the step is therefore an important parameter for Andreev reflection in nanostep junctions, and plays a role similar to that of the delta potential barrier in normal metal-superconductor plane junctions.

In this paper, we investigate perfect quantum teleportation and dense coding by using an 2N-qubit W state channel. In the quantum teleportation scheme, an unknown N-qubit entangled state can be perfectly teleported. One ebit of entanglement and two bits of classical communication are consumed in the teleportation process, just like when using the Bell state channel. While N ＋ 1 bits of classical information can be transmitted by only sending N particles in the dense coding protocol.

Optical neural networks (ONNs) offer a promising solution for high-performance, energy-efficient artificial intelligence hardware by leveraging the parallelism and speed of light. However, the large-scale implementation of ONNs remains challenging due to the bulky footprint and complex control of optical synapses. In this work, we propose and simulate a plasmonic polarized synaptic architecture that overcomes the diffraction limit and enables ultra-compact ONNs. By tuning the polarization state of incident light, the optical transmittance through each plasmonic unit can be dynamically adjusted to represent a synaptic weight. Our plasmonic structures, with features as small as 40 nm, operate well below this limit in the visible spectrum (400–750 nm). Compared with diffraction and interference-based circuit designs, our proposed method achieves a substantial reduction in synaptic density by factors of 150000-fold and 1500-fold, respectively. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate a proof-of-concept plasmonic ONN applied to the Canadian Institute for advanced Research—10classes (CIFAR-10) dataset using a Visual Geometry Group network with 16 layers (VGG16) model. After training for 80epochs, the network achieves an accuracy of 93%. The polarization-tunable plasmonics paves the way towards scalable ONNs for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators and smart sensors.

This paper investigates the effect of Dresselhaus spin orbit coupling on the spin-transport properties of ferromagnet/insulator/semiconductor/insulator/ferromagnet double-barrier structures. The influence of the thickness of the insulator between the ferromagnet and the semiconductor on the polarization is also considered. The obtained results indicate that （i） the polarization can be enhanced by reducing the insulator layers at zero temperature, and （ii） the tunnelling magnetoresistance inversion can be illustrated by the influence of the Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling effect in the double-barrier structure. Due to the Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling effect, the tunnelling magnetoresistance inversion occurs when the energy of a localized state in the barrier matches the Fermi energy EF of the ferromagnetic electrodes.

A new stability theory of nonlinear dynamic systems is proposed, and a novel adaptive synchronisation method is presented for fractional-order chaotic and hyperchaotic systems based on the theory described in this paper. In comparison with previous methods, not only is the present control scheme simple but also it employs only one control strength, converges very fast, and it is also suitable for a large class of fractional-order chaotic and hyperchaotic systems. Moreover, this scheme is analytical and simple to implement in practice. Numerical and circuit simulations are used to validate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

The chaotic behaviours of a fractional-order generalized Lorenz system and its synchronization are studied in this paper. A new electronic circuit unit to realize fractional-order operator is proposed. According to the circuit unit, an electronic circuit is designed to realize a 3.8-order generalized Lorenz chaotic system. Furthermore, synchronization between two fractional-order systems is achieved by utilizing a single-variable feedback method. Circuit experiment simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Developing a bridge capping layer between perovskite and hole transport layer materials（HTMs） in the n-i-p perovskite solar cells（pero-SCs） is an effective approach to modify the morphology of HTMs and passivate the perovskite ***, we select the quinoxaline-based bifunctional passivation agent, quinoxalin-6-yl-methylamine hydrochloride（Qx MACl）,as the bridging layer, and a D-A copolymer PBQ12 containing the same quinoxaline unit as an HTM for the n-i-p pero-SCs. Due to the π-π stacking among the common quinoxaline units in the bridge layer and HTM, Qx MACl induces the π-π stacking of the PBQ12 film and improves the film morphology of HTMs with better conductivity. Additionally, Qx MACl can effectively passivate the perovskite surface, and PBQ12 possesses appropriate energy levels and high hole mobility. The pero-SCs based on FAPbI3with PBQ12/Qx MACl treatment showed a higher power conversion efficiency（PCE） of 24.05% and outstanding stability, maintaining 95.4% and 92.1% of its initial PCE after 750 h of storage and after over 800 h of thermal annealing at 85 °C, respectively. To further enhance the PCE of the PBQ12/Qx MACl-based devices, we developed a non-metal ion dopant for the PBQ12 HTM. Through trace doping of PBQ12 HTM by the non-metal ion dopant, the PCE of the PBQ12/Qx MACl-based devices reached 25.24%（the calibrated PCE of 24.55% by the National Institute of Metrology, China）.
