Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic intestinal inflammatory disease characterized by a complex pathogenesis. Weizmannia coagulans has emerged as a potential probiotic for treating intestinal disorders. This study aimed to assess the therapeutic impact of Weizmannia coagulans BC99 on mice with DSS-induced UC and to elucidate its underlying mechanism of action. Our findings revealed that BC99 administration ameliorated symptoms associated with DSS-induced UC mice， as evidenced by reduced disease activity indexes， reversal of weight loss， and normalization of colon length. Furthermore， BC99 treatment also protected the integrity of the intestinal barrier through maintaining the antioxidant activity and the expression of tight junction proteins (ZO-1 and occluding)， and regulating the inflammatory cytokines in DSS-induced UC mice. Additionally， BC99 supplementation enhanced the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) through the proliferation of SCFA-producing bacteria， including Bidobacterium， Blautia and Faecallbaculum. Notably， the NF-κB signaling pathway was found to be closely related to BC99 treatment in DSS-induced UC mice. The positive protein expression the mRNA expression of TLR4， MyD88 and p65 in colon tissue were all detected in BC99-treated groups， which indicating that BC99 could alleviate UC symptoms by inhibiting TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway. Metabolomics further confirms the previous results. Collectively， these findings provide basic support for the Weizmannia coagulans as a functional food additive or a promising therapeutic agent for the effective management of UC.

A signal-amplified mercury sensing biosensor with desired sensitivity was developed through firstly using the GFP mutant with fluorescence increasing response towards Hg^2+ as the reporter *** developed biosensor showed response for Hg^2+ in a relatively wide range of 1–10,000 nmol/L,and the detection limit was improved one or two orders of magnitude in comparison with most metal-sensing biosensors in similar *** addition,the biosensor could distinguish Hg^2+ easily from multiple metal ions and displayed strong adaptability to extensive p H conditions (pH 4.0–10.0).More importantly,the developed biosensor was able to provide an initial assessment of Hg^2+ spiked in the environmental water with the recoveries between 85.70%and 112.50%.The signal-amplified strategy performed by the modified reporter module will be widely applicable to many other wholecell biosensors,meeting the practical requirements with sufficient sensing performance.

Pectenotoxins (PTXs) are a group of marine algal toxins. In this study, the accumulation and depuration of pectenotoxins in brown crab Cancer pagurus were investigated. Crabs were fed with toxic blue mussels Mytilus edulis for 21 days and then depurated for 42 days. Toxins were extracted with methanol from the digestive glands of contaminated crabs, uncontaminated crabs (control group) and from blue mussels for comparison. Extracts were analyzed by liquid chromatograph coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS). The concentrations of PTX-2, PTX-2 SA, 7-epi-PTX-2 SA, and PTX-12 were analyzed in two batches of toxic blue mussels and the crabs. A one-compartment model was applied to describe the depuration of PTXs. The half-life of PTXs was estimated to be 6–7.5 days. After depuration for 42 days, the amount of PTXs measured in the crab digestive glands was less than 1 μg/kg.

Near-infrared(NIR)phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes/laser diodes(LEDs/LDs)are prospective lighting sources for NIR ***,developing NIR phosphor materials with desired thermal robustness and high photoelectric efficiency is a crucial challenge for their *** this work,based on the cationic radius matching effect,a series of(Lu,Y)_(3)(Al,Sc,Cr)_(2)Al_(3)O_(12)NIR phosphor ceramics(LuYScCr NIR-PCs)were fabricated by vacuum *** thermal stability(95%@150℃)was obtained in the prepared NIR-PCs,owing to their weak electron-phonon coupling effect(small Huang-Rhys factor).Being excited at 460 nm,NIR-PCs realized a broadband emission(650-850 nm)with internal quantum efficiency(IQE)of 60.68%.Combining NIR-PCs with LED/LD chips,the maximum output power of the encapsulated LED prototype was 447 mW@300 mA with photoelectric efficiency of as high as 18.6%@180 mA,and the maximum output power of the LD prototype was 814 mW@2.5 *** working temperatures of NIR-PCs were 70.8℃@300 mA(LED)and 102.8℃@3 A(LD).Finally,the prepared NIR-PCs applied in food detection were verified in this study,demonstrating their anticipated application prospects in the future.

The construction and application of novel highly efficient photocatalysts have been the focus in the field of environmental pollutant *** this work,a novel CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)photocatalysts were synthesized by simple hydrothermal and chemical precipitation *** fabricated CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)composite exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than pristine CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)in the removal of bisphenol A(BPA)under visible-light illumination,which ascribed to the intrinsic p-n junction of CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2).The photocatalytic degradation rate of BPA on CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)with an optimized CuFe_(2)O_(4)content(1.0 wt.%)reached 93.0%within 30 *** capture experiments of active species confirmed that the hydroxyl radicals(·OH)and superoxide radicals(·O_(2)^(-))played crucial roles in photocatalytic BPA degradation ***,the possible degradation mechanism and pathways of BPA was proposed according to the detected intermediates in photocatalytic reaction process.

Effect of solvent on Se-modified ruthenium/carbon catalyst for oxygen reduction

Se-modified ruthenium supporting on carbon(Sex–Ru/C) electrocatalyst was prepared by solvothermal one-step synthesis method. The reaction mechanism was revealed after discussing impact of different solvents(i-propanol and EG) in solvotermal reaction. The result showed that the grain size of Se-modified ruthenium electrocatalyst was as small as 1 to 3 nm and highly dispersed on carbon surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) presented that selenium mainly existed in the catalyst in the form of elemental selenium and selenium oxides when the solvent was EG and i-propanol, respectively. The oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) performance was improved by appearance of selenium oxides.

Hierarchical Semiconductor Oxide Photocatalyst:A Case of the SnO_2 Microflower

Hierarchically assembled SnO_2 microflowers were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal *** emission scanning electron microscope results showed these hierarchical nanostructures were built from two dimensional nanosheets with the thicknesses of about 50 nm. Photoluminescence spectrum of the asobtained products demonstrated a strong visual emission peak at 564 nm. The photochemical measurement results indicated that the as-prepared sample exhibits excellent photocatalytic performance. These three dimensional SnO_2 hierarchical nanostructures may have potential applications in waste water purification.

A new rhodamine B derivative T1 has been rationally synthesized and displayed selective Pd（Ⅱ）-amplified absorbance and fluorescence emission above 540 nm in methanol-water. Upon the addition of Pd（Ⅱ）, the spirolactam ring was unfolded and a 1：1 metal-ligand complex formed, which can be used for ＇＇naked-eyes＂ detection. In addition, fluorescence imaging experiments of Pd^（2＋） in HepG2 living cells showed its valuable application in biological systems.
