This multilevel inverter methodology is the center of focus among researchers in recent era.It has been focused due to its advantages over existing topologies,drawbacks and improvement of power quality,Multi-level inverter has the ability to generate nearly sinusoidal waves.This sinusoidal wave can be further improved by increasing the level of output voltage or with the help of filter design,and this manuscript presents single-phase Multi cell Multi-Level Inverter(MLI).It has been considered for reducing component count to get a higher number of output voltage levels and lower Total harmonics distortion profile.It comprises with four symmetric DC input voltage and 10 IGBT switches to produces stepped output of 9 level,and when deploy asymmetric Dc voltage source the same circuit will produce 31 level output with some changes in firing scheme,moreover this circuit is the family of cascaded hybrid bridge inverter so this circuit covered advantage of CHB MLI,This circuit uses lower no.of switch as compared to existing conventional MLIs such as FC-MLI,CHB-MLI,NPC-MLI,This paper also provides one of most pertinent controls and modulation mechanisms for a MLI using a hybrid reference/carrier-oriented sinusoidal PWM mechanism.At last,simulated outcomes are to validate the performance of both architectures in MLI structure as well as verify the concept.

This paper projects an isolated hybrid model of Offshore wind-diesel-tidal turbine and discusses the stability and reactive power management issue of the whole system.The hybrid system often loses its stability as it becomes prone to uncertain load and input parameters and therefore the necessity of Reactive power management becomes necessary.The overall stability of the hybrid offshore wind-diesel-tidal turbine is made possible by the management of reactive power in the hybrid system through the application of FACTS devices.And therefore the dynamic hybrid model of the DFIG and DDPMSG based offshore wind-diesel-tidal turbine is analysed for stability with different input parameters like wind and tidal energies.For detailed modelling and simulation,a small signal model of the whole hybrid system is designed and reactive power management of the system is achieved by the incorporation of a STATCOM controller.For improvement of stability and reactive power compensation of the hybrid system,GA and PSO optimised STATCOM controller is used.

Frequent failures due to foreign particle impacts are observed in compressor blades of the interceptor fighter MIG-23 aircraft engines in the Ethiopian air force,supplied by the Dejen Aviation Industry.In this paper,we made an attempt to identify the causes of failure and hence recommend the suitable materials to withstand the foreign particle impacts.Modal and stress analysis of one of the recently failed MIG-23 gas turbine compressor blades made up of the following Aluminum based alloys:6061-T6,7075-T6,and 2024-T4,has been performed,apart from the impact analysis of the rotor blades hit by a granite stone.The numerical results are correlated to the practical observations.Based on the modal,stress and impact analysis and the material properties of the three considered alloys,alloy 7075-T6 has been recommended as the blade material.

Free convection of a viscous electrically conducting liquid past a vertical stretching surface is investigated in the presence of a transverse magnetic field.Natural convection is driven by both thermal and solutal buoyancy.The original partial differential equations governing the problem are turned into a set of ordinary differential equations through a similar variables transformation.This alternate set of equations is solved through a Differential Transform Method(DTM)and the Pade approximation.The response of the considered physical system to the non-dimensional parameters accounting for the relative importance of different effects is assessed considering different situations.

Present day power scenarios demand a high quality uninterrupted power supply and needs environmental issues to be addressed. Both concerns can be dealt with by the introduction of the renewable sources to the existing power system. Thus, automatic generation control(AGC) with diverse renewable sources and a modified-cascaded controller are presented in the paper.Also, a new hybrid scheme of the improved teaching learning based optimization-differential evolution(hITLBO-DE) algorithm is applied for providing optimization of controller parameters. A study of the system with a technique such as TLBO applied to a proportional integral derivative(PID), integral double derivative(IDD) and PIDD is compared to hITLBO-DE tuned cascaded controller with dynamic load change.The suggested methodology has been extensively applied to a 2-area system with a diverse source power system with various operation time non-linearities such as dead-band of, generation rate constraint and reheat thermal units. The multi-area system with reheat thermal plants, hydel plants and a unit of a wind-diesel combination is tested with the cascaded controller scheme with a different controller setting for each area. The variation of the load is taken within 1% to 5% of the connected load and robustness analysis is shown by modifying essential factors simultaneously by± 30%. Finally, the proposed scheme of controller and optimization technique is also tested with a 5-equal area thermal system with non-linearities. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed controller and algorithm under a dynamically changing load.

This paper presents the simulation results of DC,small-signal and noise properties of GaP based Double Drift Region( DDR) Impact Avalanche Transit Time( IMPATT) diodes. In simulation study we have considered the flat DDR structures of IMPATT diode based on GaP,GaAs,Si and GaN( wurtzite,wz) material. The diodes are designed to operate at the millimeter window frequencies of 94 GHz and 220 GHz. The simulation results of these diodes reveal GaP is a promising material for IMPATT applications based on DDR structure with high break down voltage( V_B) as compared to Si and GaAs IMPATTs. It is also encouraging to worth note GaP base IMPATT diode shows a better output power density of 4. 9 × 10~9 W/m^2 as compared to Si and GaAs based IMPATT diode. But IMPATT diode based on GaN( wz) displays large values of break down voltage,efficiency and power density as compared to Si,GaAs and GaP IMPATTs.

Ionization rate coefficients and saturation drift velocities for electrons and holes are the vital material parameters in determining the performance of an IMPATT diode.We have performed a sensitivity analysis of the millimeter wave characteristics of 4H-SiC and 6H-SiC IMPATT diodes with reference to the above mentioned material data and an operating frequency of 220 GHz.The effect of a small variation in the ionization rate and drift velocity on the device characteristics like break down voltage,efficiency,noise measure and power output has been presented here.

Economic dispatch has a significant effect on optimal economical operation in the power systems in industrial revolution 4.0 in terms of considerable savings in revenue.Various non-linearity are added to make the fossil fuel-based power systems more practical.In order to achieve an accurate economical schedule,valve point loading effect,ramp rate constraints,and prohibited operating zones are being considered for realistic scenarios.In this paper,an improved,and modified version of conventional particle swarm optimization(PSO),called Oscillatory PSO(OPSO),is devised to provide a cheaper schedule with optimum cost.The conventional PSO is improved by deriving a mechanism enabling the particle towards the trajectories of oscillatory motion to acquire the entire search space.A set of differential equations is implemented to expose the condition for trajectory motion in oscillation.Using adaptive inertia weights,this OPSO method provides an optimized cost of generation as compared to the conventional particle swarm optimization and other new meta-heuristic approaches.

This article describes the influence of controlling in-flight hot particle characteristics on properties of plasma sprayed nanostructured yttria stabilized zirconia(YSZ)coatings.This article depicts dependence of adhesion strength of as-sprayed nanostructured YSZ coatings on particle temperature,velocity and size of the splat prior to impact on the metallic substrate.Particle temperature measurement is based on two-color pyrometry and particle velocities are measured from the length of the particle traces during known exposure times.The microstructure and adhesion strength of as-sprayed nano-YSZ coatings were studied.Field emission scanning electron microscopy results revealed that morphology of coating exhibits bimodal microstructure consisting of nano-zones reinforced in the matrix of fully melted particles.The coating adhesion strength is noticed to be greatly affected by the melting state of agglomerates.Maximum adhesion strength of 42.39 MPa has been experimentally found out by selecting optimum levels of particle temperature and velocity.The enhanced bond strength of nano-YSZ coating may be attributed to higher interfacial toughness due to cracks being interrupted by adherent nano-zones.

We report the glassy behavior of dysprosium doped barium zirconium titanate single phase perovskite ceramics with general formula Ba_(1-x)Dy_(2x/3)Zr_(0.25)Ti_(0.75)O_(3)prepared by solid-state reaction method.Temperature and frequency dependent dielectric studies of the ceramics reveal relaxor behavior.A non-Debye relaxation,which is analogous to the magnetic relaxation in spin-glass system,is observed clearly around temperature of dielectric permittivity maximum(Tm).Frequency dependence of Tm governed by production of polar nano-regions is analyzed using Debye relation,Vogel-Fulcher(V-F)relation and power law.A clear change in dynamic behavior is observed by power parameter which is related to growth of interactions between polar nano-regions with different composition.Various parameters like activation energy for relaxation,freezing temperature,relaxation frequency,etc.,are determined after non-linear curve fitting.Temperature dependence of dielectric constant at temperatures much higher and lower than Tm is analyzed by two exponential functions,which gives an idea about the production of polar clusters at high temperature and distribution of freezing temperatures at lower temperature.Various other associated parameters are calculated by non-linear curve fitting and their significance has been explained.
