Genesis of geothermal water in the hinterland of Guanzhong Basin， China: Insight from hydrochemical and isotopic analysis

The Guanzhong Basin， located in Shaanxi Province， China， has abundant geothermal resources in its hinterland. Focusing on typical thermal reservoir structural units， namely the Xianli fault-step (XL) and Xi'an depression (XA)， this study reveals the genesis of geothermal water by combining hydrochemistry and environmental isotopes. The geothermal waters of XL uniformly correspond to the Na-Cl type with high contents of major ions， while the geothermal water of XA has complex hydrochemical types. The quartz geothermometer (with maximum steam loss) and Na-K-Ca geothermometer are recommended for XL and the quartz geothermometer (with no and maximum steam loss) and Na-K geothermometer for XA. Their temperature ranges are 99-159℃ and 93-146℃， respectively. The circulation depth of geofluids in XL and XA range from 2579 to 4766 m and from 2541 to 4330 m， with mean apparent ages of 21543 and 20345 yr B.P.， respectively. The geothermal water in XL originates from a mixture of sedimentary water and ancient infiltration water， and its formation mode was the vertical heat conduction with cooling process. In contrast， the geothermal water in XA originates from the dual process of cooling and mixing， with the process being dominated by ancient infiltration water and supplementation by modern infiltration water.

The response of lake environments in arid Central Asia to climate change during the Late Holocene over the centennial to millennial timescales remains contentious. The reason that primarily paleoenvironmental proxies interpreting diverse and the scarcity of accurate quantitative reconstruction records. In this study， we employed diatoms and pollen records from lacustrine sediment in the Aibi Lake of SW Junggar Basin to quantitatively reconstruct salinity and watershed precipitation amounts while exploring the associated forcing mechanism. The results indicate that Aibi Lake salinity varied between 2 g/L and 47 g/L during the Late Holocene period， indicating a generally brackish environment， and corresponding to prevailing Tryblionella granulata diatom in the lake basin. Westerly-dominated annual precipitation varied between 250 mm and 320 mm during the Late Holocene period in the basin， exhibiting a generally semi-arid environment and prevailing desert steppe vegetation. The Aibi Lake has a low salinity of average value of ～15 g/L. It exhibits elevated precipitation (average value of ～280 mm) during the periods of the Roman Warm Period (2900-1990 cal yr BP)， Dark Age Cold Period (1570-1140 cal yr BP)， and Little Ice Age (590-120 cal yr BP). The reconstructed precipitation and salinity exhibit a periodicity of ～200 years， which is consistent with the cycle of phase changes of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and Total Solar Irradiance (TSI). This correlation suggests that variations in NOA and TSI significantly influence the precipitation and salinity changes in Central Asia over centennial to millennial timescales.

Mangroves are crucial to the ecological security of the earth and human well-being. Their management, conservation, and restoration are of great importance and necessitate the support of spatio-temporal information and multidisciplinary knowledge such as biology and ecology. Traditional knowledge services such as plant atlas provide illustrated textual knowledge of mangroves. However, this kind of service is oriented to information retrieval and is incapable of effectively mining and utilizing fragmented knowledge from multi-source heterogeneous data, facing the problem of “massive data, rare knowledge”. Knowledge graphs are capable of extracting, organizing, and fusing the knowledge contained in massive data into semantic networks that can be understood and computed by computers. They provide a solution for the realization of intelligent knowledge services. Focusing on the urgent need for mangrove knowledge acquisition, formal representation, and intelligent services, this paper proposes a research prospect on mangrove knowledge graphs and knowledge services. We first analyze the similarities and differences between various domain-specific concepts of Tupu. On this basis, we define the mangrove knowledge graph as a large-scale knowledge base that integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and spatio-temporal information with mangrove ecosystems as the core. Then, we propose a research framework for mangrove knowledge services that can realize the transformation from multi-modal data to intelligent knowledge services, including multiple research levels such as ubiquitous data sensing and aggregation, knowledge organization and graph construction, and intelligent mangrove knowledge services. Subsequently, the methods and workflow for constructing mangrove knowledge graphs are introduced. Mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)have demonstrated significant promise in energy-intensive gas separations by amalgamating the unique properties of fillers with the facile processability of ***,achieving a simultaneous enhancement of permeability and selectivity remains a formidable challenge,due to the difficulty of achieving an optimal match between polymers and *** this study,we incorporate a porous carbon-based zinc oxide composite(C@ZnO)into high-permeability polymers of intrinsic microporosity(PIMs)to fabricate *** dipole–dipole interaction between C@ZnO and PIMs ensures their exceptional compatibility,mitigating the formation of non-selective voids in the resulting ***,C@ZnO with abundant interconnected pores can provide additional low-resistance pathways for gas transport in *** a result,the CO_(2) permeability of the optimized C@ZnO/PIM-1 MMMs is elevated to 13,215 barrer,while the CO_(2)/N_(2) and CO_(2)/CH4 selectivity reached 21.5 and 14.4,respectively,substantially surpassing the 2008 Robeson upper ***,molecular simulation results further corroborate that the augmented membrane gas selectivity is attributed to the superior CO_(2) affinity of C@*** summary,we believe that this work not only expands the application of MMMs for gas separation but also heralds a paradigm shift in the application of porous carbon materials.

Estimation and attribution of evapotranspiration （ET） and its components under changing environment is still a challenge but is essential for understanding the mechanisms of water and energy transfer subsequently regional water resources management. In this study， an improved hydrological model is developed to estimate evapotranspiration and its components i.e.， evaporation （E） and transpiration （T） by integrated the advantages of hydrological modeling constrained by water balance and the water-carbon close relationships. Results show that the improved hydrological model could captures ET and its components well in the study region. During the past years， annual ET and E increase obviously about 2.40mm/a and 1.42mm/a， particularly in spring and summer accounting for 90%. T shows less increasement and mainly increases in spring while it decreases in summer. Precipitation is the dominant factor and contributes 74.1% and 90.0% increases of annual ET and E， while the attribution of T changes is more complex by coupling of the positive effects of precipitation， rising temperature and interactive influences， the negative effects of solar diming and elevated CO2. In the future， ET and its components tend to increase under most of the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways （SSP） scenarios except for T decreases under the very high emissions scenario （SSP5-8.5） based on the projections. From seasonal perspective， the changes of ET and the components are mainly in spring and summer accounting for 75%， while more slightly changes are found in autumn and winter. This study highlights the effectiveness of estimating ET and its components by improving hydrological model within water-carbon coupling relationships， and more complex mechanisms of transpiration changes than evapotranspiration and evaporation changes under the interactive effects of climate variability and vegetation dynamics. The study area was designed and constructed, based on the simplification of aconceptual model, to develop a three-dimensional groundwater flow model for simulation oftwo-layers system. Finite difference groundwater flow model was constructed for the CentralSonghuajiang River alluvial plain in Northeast China, with the coverage of 786. 6km^2. The gridnetworks with a spacing of 474. 4m by 509. 5m were used to cover the model area. The trial-and-errortechnique was used to calibrate the model. The sensitivity of the simulations to the modelparameters was studied -and the most sensitive parameters that controlling the residual headsdistribution in the Songhuajiang River valley were defined.

In addition to being driven by tidal winds,the sporadic E(Es)layers are modulated by gravity waves(GWs),although the effects are not yet comprehensively *** this article,we discuss the effects of mesoscale GWs on the Es layers determined by using a newly developed model,MISE-1D(one-dimensional Model of Ionospheric Sporadic E),with low numerical dissipation and high *** by the wind fields resolved by the high-resolution version of the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere and ionosphere extension(WACCM-X),the MISE-1D simulation revealed that GWs significantly influence the evolution of the Es layer above 100 km but have a very limited effect at lower *** effects of GWs are diverse and complex,generally including the generation of fluctuating wavelike structures on the Es layer with frequencies similar to those of the *** mesoscale GWs can also cause increases in the density of Es layers,or they can disperse or diffuse the Es layers and increase their *** addition,the presence of GWs is a key factor in sustaining the Es layers in some cases.

The origin and evolution of sponges have attracted interest, not only because they are among the most basal metazoans, but also because they act as important ecological engineers in the ocean. Previous research suggested that sponge groups diversified quickly during the Cambrian Series 2, while Terreneuvian sponge fossils are conspicuously rare and poorly substantiated. Yet, an increasing number of sponge spicules have been reported from the Ediacaran-Cambrian(E-C, ca.551–523 Ma) transitional carbonates/cherts worldwide, particularly in South China, which calls for updated discussions. Ocean oxygenation has been widely proposed to play a critical role in organismal evolution, but its relationship with sponges is unclear and falls into a “chicken-egg” dilemma. In this study, we summarize reported sponge spicule distributions from five E-C sections in South China to investigate the early evolutionary pattern of siliceous sponges. According to current stratigraphic correlation,monaxons first appear in the late Ediacaran in the intrashelf basin-slope area, and then potentially expand to the continental shelf and deep basin in the lower Cambrian. In these sections, the abundance, size, and diversity of monaxons increase upwards,followed by the appearance of diaxons, triaxons and then polyactines. Despite the uncertain affinity of the sponge fossils, it is possible that siliceous hexactinellids evolved later than siliceous demosponges, given that the earliest spicule assemblages are exclusively composed of monaxons, which commonly form bundles comparable to modern demosponges. New geochemical data from the Sifangjing section, Guizhou Province and the Yanziqiao section, Hunan Province, South China show that the appearance of sponges usually corresponds to anoxic environment.
