Diel methane flux from a subtropical eutrophic pond in November based on continuous monitoring

A field campaign was carried out to investigate continuous diel methane(CH_4) flux from a subtropical eutrophic pond in November 2016. The diffusive methane flux of a single measurement had a range from2.68 9 10-5 to 0.028 mmol·m^(-2)·h^(-1) with an average of0.011 ± 0.005 mmol·m^(-2)·h^(-1). The diffusive methane flux of measurements from 9:00 to 10:30 and from 21:00 to22:30 were very close to the average diffusive flux of all measurements. The bubble methane flux at different time measurements had much more variability than the diffusive methane flux. The bubble methane flux of a single measurement had a range from 0 to 0.312 mmol·m^(-2)·h^(-1) with an average of 0.024 ± 0.054 mmol·m^(-2)·h^(-1). For the eutrophic pond, the average bubble and diffusive CH_4 flux were 0.56 ± 0.18 and 0.26 ± 0.04 mmol·m^(-2)·day^(-1),respectively, and the CH_4 ebullition flux accounted for68.23% of the total flux. The maximum of the bubble CH_4 flux was about 4.6 times of the minimum CH_4 *** maximum of diffusive CH_4 flux was * 1.7 times of the corresponding minimum. The diffusive methane fluxes in daytime and nighttime were almost equal. However, the bubble methane flux in daytime was 0.029 mmol·m^(-2)·h^(-1),which was 1.6 times of that at night. Wind speed, thesurface water temperature, and DO dominate methane effluxes from the pond, and the latter is in nature subjected to the metabolism of algae in the pond. However, key environmental factors which dominate gas flux processes vary with different weather conditions. Wind speed is unimportant when it is extremely low.

Automated DNA Assembly Based on Four-Gram Statistical Language Model

By successively assembling genetic parts according to grammatical models, complex genetic constructs can be built. However, every category of genetic parts includes many parts. With the increasing quantity of genetic parts, the process of assembling a few sets of genetic parts can be costly, time consuming, and error *** the final assembly step, it is difficult to decide which part should be selected. Based on a statistical language model, a dynamic programming algorithm was designed to solve this problem. The algorithm optimizes the results of genetic designs and finds an optimal solution. In this way, redundant operations can be reduced, and the cost for assembling can be minimized.

Natural swarms arranged from cells to herds are usually decentralized but display intriguing collective intelligence in coordinating individuals across large scales to efficiently achieve their common goals. Learning from nature may provide new strategies for controlling collective dynamics of synthetic swarms to accomplish specific functions. Here, we present a bioinspired computational framework that steers distributed active swarms to collectively capture and merge targets via reinforcement learning. We exploit collective milling structures of natural herds to cage the targets, and adopt a switching control policy inspired by sperms' chiral dynamics to optimize the trajectories of individuals, through which the active swarms can selforganize to enclose single or multiple distant targets in a dynamical, adaptive and scalable manner. There exists a critical swarm size, beyond which the excessive competition between agents would generate large mechanical forces, leading to capture instability but enabling the transition from short-distance to long-distance merging capture of multiple targets. This work provides physical insights into distributed active swarms and could offer a multilevel, decentralized strategy toward controlling swarm robotics in wide applications such as bio-medical devices, machine immunity, and target clearance.

With the rapid development of flexible wearable electronics,the demand for stretchable energy storage devices has *** this work,a novel gradient-layered architecture was design based on single-pore hollow lignin nanospheres(HLNPs)-intercalated two-dimensional transition metal carbide(Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene)for fabricating highly stretchable and durable *** depositing and inserting HLNPs in the MXene layers with a bottom-up decreasing gradient,a multilayered porous MXene structure with smooth ion channels was constructed by reducing the overstacking of MXene ***,the micro-chamber architecture of thin-walled lignin nanospheres effectively extended the contact area between lignin and MXene to improve ion and electron accessibility,thus better utilizing the pseudocapacitive property of *** these strategies effectively enhanced the capacitive performance of the *** addition,HLNPs,which acted as a protective phase for MXene layer,enhanced mechanical properties of the wrinkled stretchable electrodes by releasing stress through slip and deformation during the stretch-release cycling and greatly improved the structural integrity and capacitive stability of the *** electrodes and symmetric flexible all-solid-state supercapacitors capable of enduring 600%uniaxial tensile strain were developed with high specific capacitances of 1273 mF cm^(−2)(241 F g^(−1))and 514 mF cm^(−2)(95 F g^(−1)),***,their capacitances were well preserved after 1000 times of 600%stretch-release *** study showcased new possibilities of incorporating biobased lignin nanospheres in energy storage devices to fabricate stretchable devices leveraging synergies among various two-dimensional nanomaterials.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Properties of a Novel Tetranuclear Nickel(Ⅱ) Complex with Azo-enolic-2-hydroxybenzamide

A novel tetranuclear nickel（II） complex [NiaL2（DMF）2（H20）2＇2DMF] （1, H4L = azo-enolic-2-hydroxybenzamide, DMF = N,N-dimethyl-formamide） has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV, IR and X-ray single-crystal diffraction characterization. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/n with a = 8.8944（11）, b = 14.4583（18）, c = 18.097（2） A, fl = 90.00（2）, Z = 2 , V = 2327.2（5） A3, C40H48NI2Ni4OI4, Mr = 1155.66, Dc= 1.649 g/cm3,μ=1.672 mm1, F（000） = 1192, R = 0.0392 and wR = 0.0958. The local coordination environment around the nickel ions exist a distorted octahedral and quadrangle geometry in the molecular structure. Complex 1 exhibits strong photoluminescent emission in the ultraviolet region at room temperature. The electrochemical studies reveal that redox of Nia＋/Ni2＋ in the complex is a quasi-reversible process.

Multi-layer multi-pass friction rolling additive manufacturing of Al alloy:Toward complex large-scale high-performance components

At present,the emerging solid-phase friction-based additive manufacturing technology,including friction rolling additive man-ufacturing(FRAM),can only manufacture simple single-pass *** this study,multi-layer multi-pass FRAM-deposited alumin-um alloy samples were successfully prepared using a non-shoulder tool *** material flow behavior and microstructure of the over-lapped zone between adjacent layers and passes during multi-layer multi-pass FRAM deposition were studied using the hybrid 6061 and 5052 aluminum *** results showed that a mechanical interlocking structure was formed between the adjacent layers and the adja-cent passes in the overlapped center *** friction and rolling of the tool head led to different degrees of lateral flow and plastic deformation of the materials in the overlapped zone,which made the recrystallization degree in the left and right edge zones of the over-lapped zone the highest,followed by the overlapped center zone and the non-overlapped *** tensile strength of the overlapped zone exceeded 90%of that of the single-pass deposition *** is proved that although there are uneven grooves on the surface of the over-lapping area during multi-layer and multi-pass deposition,they can be filled by the flow of materials during the deposition of the next lay-er,thus ensuring the dense microstructure and excellent mechanical properties of the overlapping *** multi-layer multi-pass FRAM deposition overcomes the limitation of deposition width and lays the foundation for the future deposition of large-scale high-performance components.

Effects of yttrium and phosphorus on growth and physiological characteristics of Microcystis aeruginosa

Yttrium is a main kind of rare earth elements（REEs） with wide applications in modern industry and farming. Phosphorus, an essential element of algae, is used as the nutrients and also one of the main factors of eutrophication. To investigate the effects of yttrium and phosphorus on Microcystis aeruginosa（M. aeruginosa）, the growth and physiological changes were studied by lab cultured experiments. In the experiment, exogenous yttrium was tested by a concentration gradient（0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 mg/L）,meanwhile, phosphorus was tested by three concentrations（0.0, 0.02, 0.2 mg/L）. The results show that the contents of chlorophyll a（chl-a） and soluble protein increase compared with the control and they have certain correlation with algal cells density. The growth status of algae is stimulated by initial yttrium concentration 〈0.3 and 0.2 mg/L phosphorus, while it is inhabited by 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L yttrium. Besides,the activity of superoxide dismutase（SOD） of algae increases with addition of yttrium dose（0-0.3 mg/L）when phosphorus dose is 0.2 mg/L. Furthermore, when yttrium dose is 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L, the vitality of SOD presents a sharp decline. The malondialdehyde（MDA） contents increase with time and addition of yttrium dose, 0.2 mg/L phosphorus weakens the accumulation of MDA.

Application of AERMOD on near future air quality simulation under the latest national emission control policy of China: A case study on an industrial city

Air quality model can be an adequate tool for future air quality prediction, also atmospheric observations supporting and emission control strategies responders. The influence of emission control policy （emission reduction targets in the national ＂China＇s 12th Five-Year Plan （2011-2015）＂） on the air quality in the near future over an important industrial city of China, Xuanwei in Yunnan Province, was studied by applying the AERMOD modeling system. First, our analysis demonstrated that the AERMOD modeling system could be used in the air quality simulation in the near future for SO2 and NOx under average meteorology but not for PM10. Second, after evaluating the simulation results in 2008 and 2015, ambient concentration of SO2, NOx and PM10 （only 2008） were all centered in the middle of simulation area where the emission sources concentrated, and it is probably because the air pollutions were source oriented. Last but not least, a better air quality condition will happen under the hypothesis that the average meteorological data can be used in near future simulation. However, there are still heavy polluted areas where ambient concentrations will exceed the air quality standard in near future. In spatial allocation, reduction effect of SO2 is more significant than NOx in 2015 as the contribution of SO2 from industry is more than NOx. These results inspired the regulatory applications of AERMOD modeling system in evaluating environmental pollutant control policy
