Antimony selenide（Sb2Se3） is one of the perspective candidates for potassium-ion batteries due to its advanced virtues stem including featured high capacity,fertile reserves and the relative narrow band gap.Despite the unique advantages,it is still plagued by the unstable interface compatibility and poor wider-temperature adaptability.The optimization of microstructure and the construction of inorganic-organic hybrids with a low desolvation barrier and rapid kinetics behaviors are efficient to address these issues.The Sb2Se3nanorods enclosed by the S-doped carbon layer（SC）,further crosslinked by the poly（N-isopropylacrylamide）(PM) film（PM@Sb2Se3@SC）,were artificially fabricated,and it displays the enrichment ion aggregated model as well as contacted ion pair state,the well-tailored cooperation environment of potassium bonds,assuring a homogeneous potassium deposition and an excellent widertemperature adaptability.The complicated experimental studies and theoretical calculations authenticate the synergistic effects of geometric conformation and compositional design for the tremendously enhanced potassium storage.Moreover,the full device over PM@Sb2Se3@SC anode and the potassium Prussian blue cathode manifests impressively durable cycling life and wider-temperature adaptability,verifying the glorious contribution from the finely manipulation in solvation structure and potassium bonds to enhancing the potassium storage behaviors.

Tongqiao Yizhi granule(通窍益智颗粒) repress the nuclear factor kappa-b/nucleotide oligomerization domain-like receptors 3/caspase-1 pyroptosis pathway in the hippocampus to counter vascular dementia in rats

OBJECTIVE: To explore the mechanism by which Tongqiao Yizhi granule（通窍益智颗粒, TQYZKL） intervenes pyroptosis to treat vascular dementia（VaD） in a rat model. METHODS: The rat model of VaD was established by two-vessel occlusion（2VO）. The rats were randomly divided into Sham group, Model group, Nimodipine group, TQYZKL（6.2 g·kg-1·d-1）, TQYZKL(12.4 g·kg-1·d-1), TQYZKL(24.8 g·kg-1·d-1). The Morris water maze（MWM） test was carried out to test the learning and memory function; Hematoxylin-eosin staining and transmission electron microscopy（TEM） to observe the pathological damage in the hippocampus; Tunel fluorescence staining to detect neuronal pyroptosis in the hippocampus. The expression levels of pyroptosis-related proteins, namely Golgi peripheral membrane protein p65（P65）, nucleotide oligomerization domain-like receptors 3（NLRP3）, caspase-1 and Gasdermin D（GSDMD）, were detected using Western blotting and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Moreover, the serum levels of interleukin-1β（IL-1β） and interleukin-18（IL-18） were determined through the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: The study revealed that TQYZKL effectively improved the ability of VaD ratsto learn and memorize, relieved the pathological damage in the hippocampus, restored neuronal morphology, and reduced the expression of pyroptosis-related proteins P65, NLRP3, caspase-1, GSDMD-N, IL-18 and IL-1β（P < 0.05）. CONCLUSION: TQYZKL inhibits neuronal pyroptosis in the hippocampus of VaD rats by regulating nuclear factor kappa-B/NLRP3/caspase-1 signaling pathway, thus exerting a therapeutic effect on VaD in the rats.

FeOOH have received considerable attention due to their natural abundance and cost-effectiveness.Despite the significant progress achieved,the one-step synthesis of integrated FeOOH is still a major challenge.Meanwhile,the current research on FeOOH catalyst still suffers from the unclear mechanism of controlling morphology.Here,density functional theory(DFT)calculations and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)demonstrated the strong electron-capturing and hydrogen absorption ability of Co in FeOOH,which further promotes the formation and stabilization of FeOOH.We used a one-step electrodeposition method to synthesize Co introduced FeOOH integrated electrocatalyst and propose to introduce ions with different valence states to regulate the morphology of FeOOH by precise modulation of electric double layer(EDL)composition and thickness.The prepared Co-FeOOH-K^(+)has a larger electrochemically active surface area(ECSA)(325 cm^(2))and turnover frequency(TOF)value(0.75 s^(-1)).In the electrochemical experiments of an alkaline anion exchange membrane electrolyzer,Co-FeOOH-K^(+)shows better oxygen evolution performance than commercial RuO_(2) under industrial production conditions and has good industrial application prospects.

NLRP3/1-mediated pyroptosis:beneficial clues for the development of novel therapies for Alzheimer’s disease

The inflammasome is a multiprotein complex involved in innate immunity that mediates the inflammatory response leading to pyroptosis,which is a lytic,inflammatory form of cell death.There is accumulating evidence that nucleotide-binding domain and leucine-rich repeat pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome-mediated microglial pyroptosis and NLRP1 inflammasome-mediated neuronal pyroptosis in the brain are closely associated with the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease.In this review,we summarize the possible pathogenic mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease,focusing on neuroinflammation.We also describe the structures of NLRP3 and NLRP1 and the role their activation plays in Alzheimer’s disease.Finally,we examine the neuroprotective activity of small-molecule inhibitors,endogenous inhibitor proteins,microRNAs,and natural bioactive molecules that target NLRP3 and NLRP1,based on the rationale that inhibiting NLRP3 and NLRP1 inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis can be an effective therapeutic strategy for Alzheimer’s disease.

Unexpected focal fluorodeoxyglucose uptake in main organs;pass through or pass by?

Since the inception of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose(F-18 FDG),positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT)utilizing F-18 FDG has become widely accepted as a valuable imaging modality in the field of oncology,with global prevalence in clinical practice.Given that a single Torso PET/CT scan encompasses the anatomical region from the skull base to the upper thigh,the detection of incidental abnormal focal hypermetabolism in areas of limited clinical interest is both feasible and not uncommon.Numerous investigations have been undertaken to delineate the distinctive features of these findings,yet the outcomes have proven inconclusive.The incongruent results of these studies present a challenge for physicians,leaving them uncertain about the appropriate course of action.This article provides a succinct overview of the characteristics of fluorodeoxyglucose,followed by a comprehensive discussion of the imaging findings and clinical significance associated with incidental focal abnormal F-18 FDG activity in several representative organs.In conclusion,while the prevalence of unrecognized malignancy varies across organs,malignancies account for a substantial proportion,ranging from approximately one-third to over half,of incidental focal uptake.In light of these rates,physicians are urged to exercise vigilance in not disregarding unexpected uptake,facilitating more assured clinical decisions,and advocating for further active evaluation.

Focal incidental colorectal fluorodeoxyglucose uptake:Should it be spotlighted?

Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose(F-18 FDG)positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT)has emerged as a cornerstone in cancer evaluation imaging,with a well-established history spanning several years.This imaging modality,encompassing the examination of the body from the base of the skull to the upper thighs,comprehensively covers the chest and abdominopelvic regions in a singular scan,allowing for a holistic assessment of nearly the entire body,including areas of marginal interest.The inherent advantage of this expansive scan range lies in its potential to unveil unexpected incidental abnormal hypermetabolic areas.The identification of incidental focal FDG uptake within colorectal regions during PET/CT scans is not an uncommon occurrence,albeit fraught with challenges associated with non-specific FDG uptake.The presence of benign colorectal lesions or physiological uptake poses a particular obstacle,as these may manifest with FDG uptake levels that mimic malignancy.Consequently,physicians are confronted with a diagnostic dilemma when encountering abnormal FDG uptake in unexpected colorectal areas.Existing studies have presented divergent results concerning these uptakes.Standardized uptake value and its derivatives have served as pivotal metrics in quantifying FDG uptake in PET images.In this article,we aim to succinctly explore the distinctive characteristics of FDG,delve into imaging findings,and elucidate the clinical significance of incidental focal colorectal uptake.This discussion aims to contribute valuable insights into the nuanced interpretation of such findings,fostering a comprehensive understanding.

Coronaviruses are widespread in nature and can infect mammals and poultry,making them a public health concern.Globally,prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging animal coronaviruses is a great challenge.The mecha-nisms of virus-mediated immune responses have important implications for research on virus prevention and control.The antigenic epitope is a chemical group capable of stimulating the production of antibodies or sensitized lympho-cytes,playing an important role in antiviral immune responses.Thus,it can shed light on the development of diagnos-tic methods and novel vaccines.Here,we have reviewed advances in animal coronavirus antigenic epitope research,aiming to provide a reference for the prevention and control of animal and human coronaviruses.

Argatroban promotes recovery of spinal cord injury by inhibiting the PAR1/JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway

Argatroban is a synthetic thrombin inhibitor approved by U.S.Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of thrombosis.However,whether it plays a role in the repair of spinal cord injury is unknown.In this study,we established a rat model of T10 moderate spinal cord injury using an NYU Impactor ModerⅢand performed intraperitoneal injection of argatroban for 3 consecutive days.Our results showed that argatroban effectively promoted neurological function recovery after spinal cord injury and decreased thrombin expression and activity in the local injured spinal cord.RNA sequencing transcriptomic analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes in the argatroban-treated group were enriched in the JAK2/STAT3 pathway,which is involved in astrogliosis and glial scar formation.Western blotting and immunofluorescence results showed that argatroban downregulated the expression of the thrombin receptor PAR1 in the injured spinal cord and the JAK2/STAT3 signal pathway.Argatroban also inhibited the activation and proliferation of astrocytes and reduced glial scar formation in the spinal cord.Taken together,these findings suggest that argatroban may inhibit astrogliosis by inhibiting the thrombin-mediated PAR1/JAK2/STAT3 signal pathway,thereby promoting the recovery of neurological function after spinal cord injury.

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S) batteries have attracted much attention and developed rapidly in recent years due to their high energy density,low cost,and environment-friendly.However,its commercialization process still encounters various obstacles.Among them,the sulfur cathode is easy to dissolve and shuttle,resulting in the loss of active substances and the severe growth of lithium anode dendrites,which is one of the biggest obstacles.Improving the redox conversion kinetics of sulfur cathode is expected to fundamentally alleviate the shuttle phenomenon of poly sulfides.Therefore,this paper reviews the effects of metal nanoparticles to metal nanoclusters to metal single-atom catalysts on improving the redox of Li-S batteries,to let researchers better understand the size effect on the kinetics of sulfur cathodes in Li-S batteries,which will provide important guidance for the future large-scale commercialization of Li-S batteries.

Ileal collision tumor associated with gastrointestinal bleeding: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Collision tumors involving the small intestine,specifically the combination of a hamartomatous tumor and a lipoma,are extremely rare.To our knowledge,no previous case report has described a collision tumor composed of two benign tumors of different origins in the small intestine.CASE SUMMARY Here,we present the case of an 82-year-old woman who presented with hemorrhagic shock and was found to have a mass measuring approximately 50 mm×32 mm×30 mm in the terminal ileum.based on computed tomography scan findings,the mass was initially suspected to be a lipoma.A subsequent colonoscopy revealed a pedunculated submucosal elevation consisting of two distinct parts with a visible demarcation line.A biopsy of the upper portion suggested a juvenile polyp(JP).Owing to the patient’s advanced age,multiple comorbidities,and poor surgical tolerance,a modified endoscopic submucosal dissection was performed.Histopathological examination of the excised mucosal mass revealed a lipoma at the base and a JP at the top,demonstrating evidence of rupture and associated bleeding.The patient’s overall health remained satisfactory,with no recurrence of hematochezia during the six-month follow-up period.CONCLUSION This case report provides new evidence for the understanding of gastrointestinal collision tumors,emphasizing their diverse clinical presentations and histopathological characteristics.It also offers diagnostic and therapeutic insights as well as an approach for managing benign collision tumors.
