Effect of moxibustion on expression profile of miRNAs in Tripterygium glycoside-induced decreased ovarian reserve

OBJECTIVE:To explore the possible regulatory mechanism of microRNA(miRNA)in moxibustion treatment for decreased ovarian reserve(DOR).METHODS:The DOR model was constructed by intragastrical Tripterygium glycoside suspension administration,and moxibustion therapy was simultaneously *** morphological ovarian changes were observed by hematoxylin and eosin *** miRNA expression profile was detected by RNA sequencing,and bioinformatics analysis was *** software 3.6.1 was used to establish a regulatory network and differentially expressed miRNAs were verified by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR).RESULTS:Decreased number of mature follicles,increased atresia follicles,and abnormal granulosa cell morphology were observed in the model group compared with the control *** moxibustion group demonstrated increased mature follicles,decreased atretic follicles,and significantly decreased abnormal morphology of granulosa cells compared with the model ***,RNA sequencing results manifested significantly up-regulated miRNA expressions(miR-92b-3p,miR-26-5p_R+1_1ss10TC,miR-206-3p,miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA,miR-7857-3p_R-1,miR-219a-2-3p_1ss10GC,miR-3968-p5_1ss10AT,and PC-5p-6478_1795)and down-regulated miR-664-2-5p_R+1 in the model group,compared with the control group,and the moxibustion group reversed abnormal disorder levels of these ***,these differentially expressed miRNAs were mainly involved in the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B signaling pathway and nuclear factor erythropoietin-2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 signaling ***,network and RT-qPCR verification revealed miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA as the most critical ***:This experiment proved the effectiveness of moxibustion in improving the ovarian reserve of rats by regulating miRNA expression,especially miR-9993b-3p_1ss6GA.

Mechanism of acupuncture in attenuating cerebral ischaemia-reperfusion injury based on nuclear receptor coactivator 4 mediated ferritinophagy

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect of acupuncture treatment on cerebral ischaemia-reperfusion injury(CIRI)and reveal the underlying mechanism of the effect based on nuclear receptor coactivator 4(NCOA4)mediated ***:Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into four groups:the sham group,model group,acupuncture group,and sham acupuncture *** 2 h of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),reperfusion was performed for 24 h to induce *** rats were treated with acupuncture at the Neiguan(PC6)and Shuigou(GV26)*** neurological function was evaluated by taking their Bederson scores at 2 h after ischaemia and 24 h after *** chloride staining was applied to assess the cerebral infarct volume at 24 h after *** malondialdehyde(MDA)and ferrous iron(Fe^(2+))levels were observed after 24 h of reperfusion using an assay *** blotting was performed to detect the expression of NCOA4 and ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1)at 24 h after ***,the colocalization of ferritin with neurons,NCOA4 with microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3),and NCOA4 with ferritin was visualized using immunofluorescence ***:acupuncture significantly improved neurological function and decreased cerebral infarct volume in the acupuncture *** CIRI,the expression of NCOA4,LC3 and FTH1 was increased,which enhanced ferritinophagy and induced an inappropriate accumulation of Fe^(2+)and MDA in the ischaemic ***,acupuncture dramatically downregulated the expression of NCOA4,LC3 and FTH1,inhibited the overactivation of ferritinophagy,and decreased the levels of MDA and Fe^(2+).CONCLUSIONS:acupuncture can inhibit NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy and protect neurons against CIRI in a rat model.

A discoid meniscus is a morphological abnormality wherein the meniscus loses its normal‘C’*** most patients are asymptomatic,patients might still present with symptoms such as locking,pain,swelling,or giving *** resonance imaging is usually needed for confirmation of *** on a constellation of factors,including clinical and radiological,different approaches are chosen for the management of discoid *** purpose of this review is to outline the treatment of discoid meniscus,starting from conservative approach,to the different surgical options for this *** PubMed and Google Scholar databases were used for this *** discussing the treatment of discoid meniscus from 2018 to 2023 were *** there were 369 studies retrieved,and after removal of studies using the exclusion criteria,26 studies were included in this *** such as stability,presence of tear,and morphology can help with surgical *** approaches have been used to treat discoid meniscus,where the choice is tailored for each patient ***,factors that may positively impact patient outcomes include male sex,body mass index<18.5,age at symptom onset<25 years,and duration of symptoms<24 *** conventional approach is partial meniscectomy with or without repair;however,recently,there has been an increased emphasis on discoid-preserving techniques such as meniscoplasty,meniscopexy,and meniscal allograft transplantation.

The Making of a Health Profession:How Chinese Medicine Became a Nationally Registered Allied Health Profession in Australia

In 2012, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) practitioners in Australia became nationally-registered allied health professionals in three categories: acupuncturist, Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, and Chinese herbal medicine dispenser. Australia was the first Western country to introduce national registration for Chinese medicine, followed by Portugal and, recently, New Zealand. The practice of TCM in Australia can be traced back to the beginning of Chinese immigration to Australia during the Victorian Gold Rush which began in the 1850s. The process which led to national registration commenced in the early 1970s with the establishment of the first acupuncture courses. Decades of gradual development of courses from unaccredited part-time diplomas to accredited bachelor degrees, and the development, by the profession, of national consensus on educational standards were essential elements in the process which led to registration. Professional associations, such as the Australian acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd.(AACMA), also developed a framework of professional selfregulation, including Codes of Ethics, Codes of Conduct, ongoing professional development requirements and Infection Control Guidelines, and provided leadership in the development of the profession. After decades of tribalism and division within the TCM profession, the National Academic Standards Committee brought almost all stakeholders together to reach a consensus on the Australian Guidelines for Traditional Chinese Medicine Education which were published by AACMA in 2001. Professional associations also collaborated on joint submissions to the government in support of registration, which was introduced first in the state of Victoria in 2000, and subsequently became national in 2012. A new perspective on intervertebral disc calcification—from bench to bedside

Disc degeneration primarily contributes to chronic low back and neck ***,there is an urgent need to understand the spectrum of disc degeneration phenotypes such as fibrosis,ectopic calcification,herniation,or mixed *** these phenotypes,disc calcification is the least *** calcification,by definition,is the pathological mineralization of soft tissues,widely studied in the context of conditions that afflict vasculature,skin,and ***,disc calcification is associated with poor surgical outcomes and back pain refractory to conservative *** is frequently seen as a consequence of disc aging and progressive degeneration but exhibits unique molecular and morphological characteristics:hypertrophic chondrocyte-like cell differentiation;TNAP,ENPP1,and ANK upregulation;cell death;altered Pi and PPi homeostasis;and local *** studies in mouse models have provided a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying this *** is essential to recognize that the presentation and nature of mineralization differ between AF,NP,and EP ***,the combination of anatomic location,genetics,and environmental stressors,such as aging or trauma,govern the predisposition to ***,the systemic regulation of calcium and Pi metabolism is less important than the local activity of PPi modulated by the ANK-ENPP1 axis,along with disc cell death and differentiation *** there is limited understanding of this phenotype,understanding the molecular pathways governing local intervertebral disc calcification may lead to developing disease-modifying drugs and better clinical management of degeneration-related pathologies.

Brain mechanism of acupuncture for children with anisometropic amblyopia: a resting functional magnetic resonance imaging study based on voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity

AIM:To explore the brain mechanism of acupuncture for children with anisometropic amblyopia using the voxelmirror homotopic connectivity(VMHC)analysis method of resting functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-fMRI)technology based on clinical ***:Eighty children with anisometropic monocular amblyopia were randomly divided into two groups:control(40 cases,1 case of shedding)and acupuncture(40 cases,1 case of shedding)*** control group was treated with glasses,red flash,grating,and visual stimulations,with each procedure conducted for 5min per *** on routine treatment,the acupuncture group underwent acupuncture of“regulating qi and unblocking meridians to bright eyes”,Jingming(BL1),Cuanzhu(BL2),Guangming(GB37),Fengchi(GB20)acupoints were taken on both sides,with the needle kept for 30min each *** groups were treated once every other day,three times per week,for a total of *** the treatment,the overall curative effect of the two groups and the latency and amplitude changes of P100 wave of pattern visual-evoked potential were *** the same time,nine children with left eye amblyopia were randomly selected from the two groups and were scanned with rsfMRI before and after *** differences in the brain regions between the two groups were compared and analyzed with ***:Chi-square test showed a notable difference in the total efficiency rate between the acupuncture(94.87%)and control groups(79.49%).Regarding the P100 wave latency and amplitude,the acupuncture group had significantly shorter latency and higher amplitude of P100 wave than the control ***,the VMHC values of the bilateral temporal lobe,superior temporal gyrus,and middle temporal gyrus were notably increased in the acupuncture group after ***:acupuncture combined with conventional treatment can significantly improve the corrected visual acuity and optic nerve conduction in children with anisometropic ***
