Gamma Irradiation Enhanced Leaf Bioactive Components and Bioassay Parameters in M<sub>5</sub>Mulberry (<i>Morus</i>Sp.) Mutant

Gamma radiation is an effective tool for inducing genetic variation in plant characters. In the present experiment, M5 mulberry variety juvenile twigs were subjected to source Co60 gamma irradiation (1 kR - 10 kR) and mutants grown in triplicates in randomized block design to raise M1 and M2 generation. In M2 generation plants were subjected to phytochemical and bioassay tests. Silkworm rearing parameters and commercial characters of cocoons were recorded by feeding cross breed silkworms. Results show that M5 mutant leaves revealed significant variations in phytochemical constituents and moisture content. Bioassay tests recorded significant differences compared to control in M2 generation. Commercial characters like cocoon weight (1.41 g), shell weight (0.24 g), shell percentage (16.29 %), filament length (821.00 mts), renditta (8.2), denier (2.24) and effective rate of rearing (92.14 %) were increased. It is concluded that, gamma rays treatment enhances the mulberry plants leaf bioactive components, silkworm rearing and cocoon parameters and shows beneficial variants in M2 generation.

Here,we report the complete chloroplast（cp） genome of the daimyo oak,Quercus dentata *** genome is 161,250 bp in size with a GC content of 36.83% and contains 134 genes（86 protein-coding genes,40 tRNA genes,eight rRNA genes）.The large single-copy region and small single-copy region in the cp genome contain 90,560 bp and 19,036 bp,respectively,while the inverted repeat region is 25,827 bp in *** phylogenetic analyses based on the whole cp genome sequence provided a solid evidence that *** has a close relationship with *** presence of two subgenus,Quercus and Cyclobalanopsis,in Quercus was uncovered in the phylogenetic *** cp genome presented here will provide useful information for the phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of Quercus species.

Here, we report the complete chloroplast（cp） genome of the daimyo oak, Quercus dentata Thunb. The genome is 161,250 bp in size with a GC content of 36.83% and contains 134 genes（86 protein-coding genes, 40 tRNA genes, eight rRNA genes）. The large single-copy region and small single-copy region in the cp genome contain 90,560 bp and 19,036 bp, respectively, while the inverted repeat region is 25,827 bp in length. The phylogenetic analyses based on the whole cp genome sequence provided a solid evidence that Q. dentata has a close relationship with Q. aliena. The presence of two subgenus, Quercus and Cyclobalanopsis, in Quercus was uncovered in the phylogenetic analyses. The cp genome presented here will provide useful information for the phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of Quercus species.

The Sawtooth oak Quercus acutissima Carruthers is an important economic and biological tree specie in the family Fagaceae and has a wide distribution in *** this study,we examined the intraspecific variability of the morphology-based *** at whole chloroplast（cp） genome *** presented the complete cp genome of *** individual collected from Shenyang（Northeast China） and compared it to the two recently published cp genomes from geographically distant individuals,Tongchuan（Northwest China） and Nanjing（East China）.The cp genome of *** Shenyang is 161,155bp in length,exhibiting a slightly larger genome size than the other two individuals,although each of them encodes 134 genes including 86 protein-coding genes,40 t RNA genes and eight rRNA *** also found the length difference for the IR/SC boundary region among the three cp *** comparison revealed an extremely high intraspecific genetic variability,as 228 single nucleotide variants（SNVs;0.14%） including 85 mutation site and 143 indels were found among the three cp *** phylogenetic analyses based on cp genomes confirmed that ***,***,and *** were closely related,but revealed that three *** individuals did not form a monnphyletic clade（Figure 1）.This is the first time to uncover that *** possesses an extremely high levels of chloroplast genome sequence variability and may be a species complex.

Including significant warming trend,Arctic climate changes also exhibit strong interannual variations in various fields,which is suggested to be related to El Nino and Southern Oscillation(ENSO)*** studies have demonstrated the different impacts on the Arctic of central Pacific(CP)and eastern Pacific(EP)ENSO events,and suggested these impacts are largely of opposite sign for ENSO warm and cold *** results illustrate asymmetrical changes for the cold and warm ENSO events,especially for the La Nina *** to the past frequent basin-wide cooling La Nina events,since the 1980 s the cooling center for the La Nina event has strengthened and moved westward along with the increasing frequency for the canonical and CP La Nina *** to the basin-wide cooling and canonical La Nina events,the frequent CP La Nina events induce significant warming from the Beaufort Sea to Greenland via the convection center moving northward over the western *** analysis and numerical experiments both suggest that the changes in La Nina type may also accelerate Arctic warming.

To improve the efficiency and accuracy of early forecast of Lepidopteran oak-infesting pests,DNA barcode technique was established for quick species identification using mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit I（CO I） as the standard *** technique was used to amplify and sequence genomic DNA samples from eggs and pupae of 11 species of Lepidopteran pests collected from *** DNA barcoding standard genes of 594-708 bp were determined from eggs and pupae of Lepidopteran *** were differences of 0-2 bases in DNA barcode sequences between conspecific eggs and pupae,with the sequence identity of 99.7%-100%.The average content of A,T,G and C of DNA barcode sequences from Lepidopteran insects were 30.7%,38.5%,14.9% and 15.9%,*** obtained DNA barcode sequences had 91.4%-100% identity and 0-8.6% difference degree with GenBank-deposited DNA barcode sequences from organisms of the genetically-closest *** them,DNA barcode sequences from egg and pupa samples of 10 Lepidopteran insects had 99%-100% identity and 0-1.0% difference degree with homologous sequences in GenBank database,while the remaining samples had high difference degree（8.6%） with homologous *** established DNA barcoding technique is an effective tool for species identification of Lepidopteran pests using genomic DNA from eggs and pupae of Lepidopteran insects.

Qinghuang 1 is the first modern inbred strain of Chinese oak silkworm Antheraea pernyi systematically selected from local ***,the complete mitochondrial genome of this strain was sequenced and compared to other known *** mitochondrial *** mitogenome of Qinghuang 1 is 15,573 bp in length and harbors a typical gene composition and organization for completely sequenced silkworm *** nucleotide composition of the genome is highly A+T biased,accounting for 80.22%,with a slightly negative AT skewness(-*** protein-coding genes（PCGs） are initiated by ATN codons,except for cytochrome oxidase subunits I（COI）,which is tentatively designated by the CGA *** of 13 PCGs harbor an incomplete termination codons,T or *** t RNAs have a typical clover-leaf structure of mitochondrial t RNA,except for t RNASer（AGN）,the DHU arm of which could not form a stable stem-loop *** PCGs evolved under strong purifying selection with highest evolutionary rates observed for ND5 while lowest for COI *** phylogenetic analyses confirmed the basic position of Qinghuang 1 among the modern Chinese oak silkworm *** complete annotated mitochondrial genome is available in GenBank（MN064713）.
