Acupoint Shousanli （LI 10） is also called Shangsanli, Guixie, locates at the radial aspect of the back of the forearm, 2 cun below Quchi （LI 11）, on the line joining Yangxi （LI 5） and Quchi （LI 11）. Shousanli （LI 10） was firstly recorded in Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing （A-B Canon of acupuncture and moxibustion）. It is widely applied in clinic, and especially acts to dredge meridians and collaterals, promote qi circulation to relieve pain. Now, the clinical applications of Shousanli （LI 10） were summarized as follows.

Electroacupuncture attenuates cerebral hypoxia and neuronal apoptosis induced by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** further identify the involved mechanisms,we assumed that electroacupuncture used to treat cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury was associated with the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase（MAPK） signaling *** established rat models of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury using the modified Zea-Longa＇s *** 30 minutes before model establishment,p38 MAPK blocker SB20358 was injected into the left lateral *** 1.5 hours after model establishment,electroacupuncture was administered at acupoints of Chize（LU5）,Hegu（LI4）,Zusanli（ST36）,and Sanyinjiao（SP6） for 20 minutes in the affected *** showed that the combination of EA and SB20358 injection significantly decreased neurologic impairment scores,but no significant differences were determined among different interventional ***-eosin staining also showed reduced brain tissue *** with the SB20358 group,the cells were regularly arranged,the structures were complete,and the number of viable neurons was higher in the SB20358 ＋ electroacupuncture *** deoxynucleotidyl transferase（Td T）-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling assay showed a decreased apoptotic index in each group,with a significant decrease in the SB20358 ＋ electroacupuncture *** revealed reduced phosphorylated p38 expression at 3 days in the electroacupuncture group and SB20358 ＋ electroacupuncture group compared with the ischemia/reperfusion *** was no significant difference in phosphorylated p38 expression between the ischemia/reperfusion group and SB20358 *** findings confirmed that the electroacupuncture effects on mitigating cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury are possibly associated with the p38 MAPK signaling pathway.A time period of 3 days could promote the repair of ischemic cerebral nerves.

Objective： acupuncture has a definite therapeutic effect on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）, and the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway （CAP） has been shown to be involved in regula- tion of inflammation. In this study, we investigated whether electro-acupuncture （EA） affects the CAP in COPD,Methods： Sprague-Dawley rats were induced into COPD through exposure to cigarette smoke combined with lipopolysaccharide. EA treatment was applied at Zusanli （ST36） and Feishu （BL13） points for 30 min/d for 7 d. Seventy-two rats were randomly divided into six study groups, including normal, normal ＋ EA, normal ＋ α-bungarotoxin （α-BGT）（the antagonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor α7 subunit （α7nAChR））＋ EA, COPD, COPD ＋ EA, and COPD ＋ α-BGT ＋ EA. Lung function, pathology and vagus nerve discharge were tested. The levels of acetylcholine （ACh）, acetylcholinesterase （ACHE）, interleukin-6 （IL-6） and tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-ct） in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid （BALF） and lung tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The mRNA and protein expression and immunoreac- tivity of α7nAChR and its postreceptor inflammation signal pathway, including janus kinase 2 （JAK2）, sig- nal transducers and activators of transcription 3 （STAT3）, nuclear factor-KB （NF-KB）, were observed by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Results： Compared with normal rats, there were a significant decline in lung function and discharge of the vagus nerve （P 〈 0.01）, a marked sign of lung inflammation and an increase of ACh, ACHE, IL-6 and TNF-α level in BALF or lung tissue （P 〈 0.05, P 〈 0.01 ） and higher expression of 0t7nAChR, JAK2, STAT3 and NF-αB （P 〈 0.05, P 〈 0.01） in the COPD rats. In rats receiving EA, the lung function and vagal discharge were enhanced （P 〈 0.01 ）, lung inflammation was improved and the levels of ACh, ACHE, IL-6 and TNF-α were decreased （P 〈 0.01）. Objective To conduct a pilot trial to explore the effectiveness and safety of moxibustion robots in treating primary dysmenorrhea(PD)and evaluate its feasibility in *** A total of 70 participants with PD were allocated to either moxibustion robot(MR)group(35 cases)or manual moxibustion(MM)group(35 cases)using computer-generated *** acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4)was selected to receive moxa heat *** groups of participants were given 3 menstrual cycles of MM and MR treatment respectively(once a day,5 days a session)and received another 3 menstrual cycles *** degree of pain was evaluated by short-form McGill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ)and the symptoms of dysmenorrhea were evaluated by Cox Menstrual Symptom Scale(CMSS).The safety was measured by the occurrence rate of adverse events(AEs),including burns(blisters,red and swollen),itching,bowel changes,menstrual cycle disorder,menorrhagia and fatigue,*** A total of 62 patients completed the trial,32 in MR group and 30 in MM *** with baseline,scores of SF-MPQ and CMSS significantly decreased in both groups(P0.05).The total occurrence rate of AEs in MR group was 2.1%,which was significantly lower than MM group(7.2%,P<0.05).Conclusions MR has the same effect as MM at SF-MPQ and CMSS in patients with ***,MR is safer than MM(Trial registration ***1800018236).

Objective： To observe the effects of electroacupuncutre at Tianzhu point on the expressions ofbcl-2 and bcl-XL in the degenerative cervical intervertebral disc of rats. Methods Forty SD male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, sham surgery group, model group, Western medicine group and electroacuptmcture group, there were 10 rats in each group. Except for rats in the sham surgery group, rats in the other groups were made to be of cervical intervertebral disc degeneration by unbalanced dynamic and static forces. Rats in the electroacupunture group were treated with electroacupuncture at Tianzhu （BL 10） and Dazhu （BL 11） points, while rats in the Western medicine group with Fenbid, and rats in the model group were not treated. After 30-day treatments, the expressions of bcl-2 and bcl-XL were observed with immunohisto-chemical method in the cervical intervertebral disc. Results： The expression of bcl-2 was higher in the electroacupuncture, sham surgery, and western medicine groups than that in the model group （P〈0.01）, whereas, there was no difference among these three groups. The expression of bcl-XL in the electroacupuncture group was lower than that in the sham surgery group （P〈0.01）, and higher than those in the Western medicine group and model group （P〈0.01）. Conclusion： Electroacupuncture treatment can enhance the expressions of bcl-2 and bcl-XL, which may be the mechanism of delaying the cell apoptosis in the intervertebral disc to treat diseases.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of needling acupoints(bilateral vs unilateral) with De Qi using data collected from 501 primary dysmenorrhea(PD) patients participating in multi-center, randomized,controlled ***: De Qi was defined as at least one of the feelings in soreness, numbness, fullness or heaviness at the acupoints when stimulated with needles. The 501 patients were grouped in 3 groups in terms of De Qi or not De Qi in one side(unilateral)or both sides(bilateral) of the body: bilateral De Qi group, unilateral De Qi group, and non-De Qi group. The abdominal pains were measured using visual analog scale(VAS).RESULTS: In 501 patients, 472 acquired De Qi at unilateral acupoints, 24 De Qi at bilateral acupoint,and 5 had no De Qi at any acupoint. The data of non-De Qi group was excluded as the sample was less than 5% of that in the bilateral De Qi *** was significant difference in the VAS before and after treatment between unilateral and bilateral De Qi group(P < 0.01). After stratified by acupoints, for the patients needled at Sanyinjiao(SP 6)and Xuanzhong(GB 39), VAS scores in the bilateral De Qi group were larger than those in the unilateral De Qi group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Bilateral De Qi was possibly superior to unilateral De Qi in enhancing the immediate analgesic effect of needling the acupoints, but no statistical significance was observed on the pa-tients of needling at non acupoint, which preliminarily suggested this immediate analgesic effect was perhaps along meridians.

Objective To contrastively observe the effect of electroacupuncture at lower he-sea points of stomach, large intestine, small intestine and gallbladder of acute gastric mucosal lesion（AGML） model rats on the expression of serum high mobility group protein B 1（HMGB 1）, tumor necrosis factor-α（TNF-α） and nuclear factor-κB（NF-κB） of gastric tissue, and to explore whether the lower he-sea points of stomach have relative specificity in treatment of stomach diseases. Methods Seventy healthy SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups, including control group, model group, ＂Zúsānlǐ＂（足三里 ST 36） group, ＂Shàngjùxū＂（上巨虚 ST 37） group, ＂Xiàjùxū＂（下巨虚 ST 39） group, ＂Yánglíngquán＂（阳陵泉 GB 34） group and ＂Chéngjīn＂（承筋 BL 56） group, with five male rats and five female rats in each group. Acute gastric mucosal lesion model was established by applying WRS method. After successful modeling and treatment for ten days, sampling was conducted, gastric mucosal lesion was observed visually and scored, the levels of serum HMGB 1 and gastric tissue TNF-α were detected by ELISA method, and the expression of NF-κB was detected by immunohistochemical method. Results①Compared with the model group, the levels of Ulcers and inflammation（UI） in gastric mucosal and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric tissue TNF-α and NF-κB in the four lower he-sea points groups reduced（P〈0.01 or P〈0.05）;② compared with ST 36 group, the levels of gastric mucosal UI and serum HMGB1, and the expression of gastric mucosal TNF-α and NF-κB in other treatment groups increased significantly, and the difference was statistically significant（P〈0.01 or P〈0.05）. Conclusion①Electroacupuncture at relevant lower he-sea points can inhibit the body＇s immune response, relieve inflammatory reaction and reduce mucosal lesion by regulating HMGB 1, TNF-α and NF-κB, so as to realize the intervention and treatment on AGML rats;② the total intervention effect in ST 36 group is superior to that in other groups, indicating partially th
