Methane, an abundant one-carbon（C1） resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO2emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane（ECM） using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO2emission.

Drought across Northwest china in late spring has exerted a vital effect on the local climate and agricultural production,and has been alleviated during the past *** study explored the influence of the preceding Arctic sea ice on the May drought in Northwest china caused by the precipitation *** analysis indicated that when the Greenland sea ice concentration is abnormally high during February to April,the dry conditions in Northwest china tend to be *** increase of sea ice in the Greenland sea can excite a meridional circulation,which causes sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies in the North Atlantic via the sea-air interaction,manifested as significant warm SST anomalies over the south of Greenland and the subtropical North Atlantic,but negative SST anomalies over the west of the *** abnormal SST pattern maintains to May and triggers a zonal wave train from the North Atlantic through Scandinavia and Central Asia to Northwest china,leading to abnormal cyclones in Northwest ***,Northwest china experiences a more humid climate than usual.

Survey of reefs based on Landsat 8 operational land imager(OLI)images in the Nansha Islands, south china sea

A detailed survey of the reefs in the Nansha Islands＇ sea that are of strategic importance is conducive to their future development. In this study, a total of 50 Landsat 8 operational land imager（OLI） images were used to analyze the geological features and spectral characteristics of the Nansha reefs. The exposed islands/sandbanks,reef flats and sub-tidal reefs were identified with the near-infrared band, the red and green bands, and the blue band, respectively. Based on the relationships among various characteristics and bands illustrated in the OLI images, the maximum between-cluster variance threshold algorithm（OTSU method） and the mathematical morphology were employed to extract characteristic parameters of the spatial geometry of the reefs from top to bottom, which were subsequently operated by a series of post-processing methods such as vectorization,simplification and topological analysis. Among the 132 standalone reefs and 16 atolls that are identified in the study, four reefs have yet to be named in the Standard Names of Various Islands in the south china sea and the website Nansha Islands Online（http：//***/）. Another 24 ones are exposed to the atmosphere even during high tides. Taiping Island with an area of 0.57 km^2 represents the largest exposed geological feature. This study demonstrated the applicability of medium-resolution satellite images to derive the coral reef information effectively and thus provided information for the related departments that are responsible to manage the *** improved resolution of multispectral bands with the panchromatic band in higher spatial resolution（15 m for OLI image） is expected to provide an optimum satellite based approach to map marine habitats.

Analysis of Jiangsu Tidal Flats Reclamation from 1974 to 2012 Using Remote Sensing

Jiangsu has the most abundant tidal flat resources among china＇s coastal provinces. To ease the conflict between the growing population and shrinking usable land and to promote regional sustainable development, large-scale coastal reclamation development activities have been performed in Jiangsu Province since 1949. The present study has integrated multi-source remote sensing images during 1974 to 2012 by using a Multi-point Fast Marching Method （MFMM） to extract the Jiangsu coastal reclamation areas for different time periods. The temporal and spatial patterns of the extent and elevation of the reclamation areas were analysed in order to determine the unused potential for future reclamation. It will provide information necessary to support the development and construction of tidal flats in Jiangsu. Results show that：（1） the reclaimed tidal fiats along the Jiangsu coast cover more than 19.86×10^4 hm^2, of which 13.97×10^4 hm^2 is located in Yancheng, 4.84×10^4 hm^2 in Nantong, and 1.05×10^4 hm^2 in Lianyungang; （2） the average elevation of the reclaimed Jiangsu tidal flats has gradually decreased over the last 40 years, while those in Dongtai and Rudong have showed particularly accelerated decrease since the 1990s; and （3） in 2012, very few unused tidal flats two meters above the sea level are left along the Jiangsu coast, and mainly concentrated in Yancheng. As there are still reserving some coastal land resources between 0-2 m, providing us with a potential for future development. All of these findings may be useful for researchers and local authorities for the development and utilization of tidal flat resources in Jiangsu.

According to a series of important historical maps,i.e.,the Location Map of the south china sea Islands,the Nansha Islands,Zhongsha Islands,Xisha Islands,Yongxing Island and Shidao Island,and Taiping Island（archived by the Territorial Administration Division of the Ministry of Interior of Republic of china in 1946）,and the Administration District Map of the Republic of china published in 1948,the dashed line surrounding the south china sea Islands represents china＇s sea boundary in the south china sea at that *** was both connected with,and an extension of,the land boundary of *** that time the dashed line was used to represent the waters boundaries while the solid line was used to represent the land boundary—a universal method used in maps that was then recognized *** above observation provides historical and scientific evidence of china＇s sea boundary in the south china sea that is useful for the international maritime delimitation over the south china sea area.

Using big data to track marine oil transportation along the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road

china's designation of the "21 st-century Maritime Silk Road"(MSR) region is of extraordinary significance to its maritime rights, transportation security, and socio-economic development. We developed a technical framework allowing the use of "big data" derived from the Automatic Identification System(AIS, an automatic ship-tracking network) for two purposes: the accurate mapping of oil tanker trajectories and the creation of heat maps showing the relative use of oil tanker routes and marine shipping chokepoints. We then applied these methods to 1.5 billion AIS records collected within the MSR in 2014 to statistically identify and analyze busy routes, areas, and chokepoints in this strategic region. Our results demonstrate that the proposed framework can provide an effective analysis of oil movements based on large-scale AIS datasets, helping researchers and policy makers better understand the footprint and strategic implications of maritime oil transportation in the MSR region.

An Object-Oriented Diagnostic Model for the Quantification of Porewater Geochemistry in Marine Sediments

The reaction-transport model is widely used to identify and quantify dissolved chemical species in sediment porewaters. In this paper, a modularized code framework of diagenetic model was proposed as a diagnostic tool to fit the porewater profiles in marine sediments. Based on the conservation principle of the finite volume method, we combined the discretized diagenetic equations with various geochemical reactions, including but not limited to methanogenesis, sulfate reduction, etc.. The code was organized in object-oriented FORTRAN and verified with literature parameters, which proved its robustness and effectiveness. Finally, three different sites（IODP Expedition 311 Site U1327, UBGH2-1_1, ODP Leg204 Site 1245） are exemplified as case studies.

Winter sea ice albedo variations in the Bohai sea of china

sea ice conditions in the Bohai sea of china are sensitive to large-scale climatic variations. On the basis of CLARA-A1-SAL data, the albedo variations are examined in space and time in the winter（December, January and February） from 1992 to 2008 in the Bohai sea sea ice region. Time series data of the sea ice concentration（SIC）, the sea ice extent（SIE） and the sea surface temperature（SST） are used to analyze their relationship with the albedo. The sea ice albedo changed in volatility appears along with time, the trend is not obvious and increases very slightly during the study period at a rate of 0.388% per decade over the Bohai sea sea ice *** interannual variation is between 9.93% and 14.50%, and the average albedo is 11.79%. The sea ice albedo in years with heavy sea ice coverage, 1999, 2000 and 2005, is significantly higher than that in other years; in years with light sea ice coverage, 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2006, has low values. For the monthly albedo, the increasing trend（at a rate of 0.988% per decade） in December is distinctly higher than that in January and February. The mean albedo in January（12.90%） is also distinctly higher than that in the other two months. The albedo is significantly positively correlated with the SIC and is significantly negatively correlated with the SST（significance level 90%）.

Three new isocoumarin derivatives from the mangrove endophytic fungus Penicillium sp. YYSJ-3

Three new isocoumarin derivatives,(S)-6,8-dihydroxy-5-(methoxymethyl)-3,7-dimethylisochroman-1-one(1),(S)-6,8-dihydroxy-3,5,7-trimethyl-isochroman-1-one(2) and(R)-2-chloro-3-(8-hydroxy-6-methoxy-1-oxo-1 H-isochromen-3-yl) propyl acetate(3), along with four known compounds(4–7) were isolated from a mangrove endophytic fungus Penicillium sp. YYSJ-3. Their structures were established on the basis of the extensive spectroscopic data and HR-ESI-MS analysis. The absolute configurations of1–3 were further determined by X-ray diffraction analysis and optical rotations. Compounds 3, 6 and 7 showed promising inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase, which were stronger than that of the positive control 1-deoxynojirimycin(IC50 141.2 μmol·L-1).
