A novel laser spallation technique for quantitatively measuring the film interface strength is presented. Through the analysis of the physical procedure of the film spallation, a mathematical model is established based on the multiple reflections and transmissions of the stress waves within film, and a formula for calculating the interface strength and the strain rate is obtained. Using this method the interface strength of Cr stainless steel/TiN, AI/EPOXY and Fe/EPOXY are measured. A new method of wave-shape analysis is developed to judge the film spallation intuitionally, and to determine the spall moment, spall depth and spall strength directly. The film interface strength has been measured using single laser shock.

The electron transfer reaction between triplet anthraquinone-2-sulfonate with poly-guanylic acid (5) (poly[G]) in acetonitrile-H2O has been investigated by 248 nm laser flash photolysis. The transient absorption spectra of radical cation of poly[G] and radical anion of anthraqunione-2-sulfonate (AQS) arising from electron transfer reaction has been observed simultaneously for the first time. The formation processes of radical cation of poly[G] and radical anion of anthraquinone-2-sulfonate as well as the decay processes of triplet anthraquinone-2-sulfonate have also been observed, the apparent rate constants for the formation and decay of transient species have been determined. The free energy changes in the process of the electron transfer was also calculated.

As friction, intrinsic steady-state nonlinearity poses a challenging dilemma to the control system of 3-DOF （three degree of freedom） flight simulator, a novel hybrid control strategy of nonlinear PID （proportionalintegral-derivative） with additional FFC （feed-forward controller） is proposed, and the hardware-in-the-loop simulation results are also given. Based on the description of 3-DOF flight simulator, a novel nonlinear PID theory is well introduced. Then a nonlinear PID controller with additional FFC is designed. Subsequently, the loop structure of 3-DOF flight simulator is also designed. Finally, a series of hardware-in-the-loop simulation experiments are undertaken to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed nonlinear PID controller with additional FFC for 3-DOF flight simulator.

Poly-crystalline silicon thin film has big potential of reducing the cost of solar cells. In this paper the preparation of thin film is introduced, and then the morphology of poly-crystalline thin film, is discussed. On the film we developed poly-crystalline silicon thin film solar cells with efficiency up to 6.05% without anti-reflection coating.

Based on the Laplace transform an ordinary differential equation for the two-dimensional time-domain free-surface Green function in ship hydrodynamics is presented. The results for 2D Green function and its horizontal derivative are fifth-order ODEs and the vertical derivative satisfies a fourth-order ODE. All of these results may be used to accelerate the numerical computations for the time-domain BEM in marine hydrodynamics.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in Beijing and its risk factors. METHODS: Phase I: a screening for IBS in Beijing area according to symptoms using both Manning (modified including constipation) and Rome criteria. 2486 subjects were studied by cluster sampling of the inhabitant groups according to a stratified design of urban, suburban and rural areas, and sample size of each area studied was in proportion to the population of the area. Selection of the inhabitant groups was made by simple random sampling. Age of subjects enrolled in the study was 18-70 years. All subjects fulfilling the selection criteria were requested to fill in a questionnaire assisted by trained doctors or medical students during the visit to their families. Phase II: an aliquot of patients who fulfilled at least the Manning criteria were further selected according to their scoring series to undergo detail clinical examination in the hospital including laboratory examination, abdominal ultrasonography, colonoscopy or/and barium enema to exclude organic disease of the colon. Prevalence of IBS of the population was then adjusted by the rate of correct diagnosis during Phase II study. Study using Minnesota Multi-Personality Indices (MMPI) was done in some cases. Probable risk factors were explored by comparing their frequencies among IBS group and non-IBS group using chi 2 and logistic analysis of multifactors. RESULTS: The adjusted point prevalence of IBS in Beijing is 7.26% according to Manning criteria, and is 0.82% according to Rome criteria. Facilitated ion transfer reactions of 20 amino acids with dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) at the water/1,2-dichloroethane (W/DCE) interfaces supported at the tips of micro- and nano-pipets were investigated systematically using cyclic voltammetry. It was found that there were only 10 amino acids, that is, Leu, Val, lie, Phe, Trp, Met, Ala, Gly, Cys, Gin (in brief), whose protonated forms as cations can give well-defined facilitated ion transfer voltammograms within the potential window, and the reaction pathway was proven to be consistent with the transfer by interfacial complexation/dissociation (TIC/TID) mechanisms. The association constants of DB 18C6 with different amino acids in the DCE (β0), and the kinetic parameters of reaction were evaluated based on the steady-state voltammetry of micro- or nano-pipets, respectively. The experimental results demonstrated that the selectivity of complexation of protonated amino acid by DB18C6 compared with that of alkali metal cations was low, which can be attributed to the vicinal effect arising from steric hindrance introduced by their side group and the steric bulk effect by lipophilic stabilization. Moreover, the association constants and the standard rate constants for different amino acids showed good correlations with their hydrophobicity (π), except Gly and Met, which inferred that the selectivity of such heterogeneous complex reaction for different amino acids with DB18C6, was not only affected by discrimination in binding these ions to the crown ether macro-cycle, but also significantly modified by the ion transfer Gibbs energy which was closely related to the structure of the transferred ions, protonated amino acids.

The Clinical Use of Mediator Release Test in Food Sensitivities

Food sensitivities are non-IgE-mediated, non-coeliac, dose-dependent and delayed systemic responses to food. They consist of a highly complex class of adverse food reactions; however, their last phase is the release of mediators from leukocytes. The Mediator Release Test （MRT） is a functional measure of sensitivity-based inflammatory responses. It is an end-point test, which can account for the widest range of triggering mechanisms involved in sensitivity reactions, including both innate and adaptive pathways. MRT not only tests reactions to foods, food-chemicals, and other substances, but also reliably quantifies the degree of the inflammatory response. The test opens the new therapeutic options for food sensitivities.
