Distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria in emergency patients

BACKGROUND Antibiotic resistance has become a global threat for human health,calling for rational use of *** To analyze the distribution and drug resistance of the bacteria,providing the prerequisite for use of antibiotics in emergency *** A total of 2048 emergency patients from 2013 to 2017 were *** clinical examination specimens were collected,followed by isolation of *** bacterial identification and drug susceptibility testing were carried *** A total of 3387 pathogens were *** top six pathogens were Acinetobacter baumannii(660 strains),Staphylococcus aureus(436 strains),Klebsiella pneumoniae(347 strains),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(338 strains),Escherichia coli(237 strains),and Candida albicans(207 strains).The isolation rates of these pathogens decreased year by year except Klebsiella pneumoniae,which increased from 7.1%to 12.1%.Acinetobacter baumannii is a widely-resistant strain,with multiple resistances to imipenem,ciprofloxacin,minocycline and *** Staphylococcus aureus had high resistance rates to levofloxacin,penicillin G,and *** the susceptibility of it to vancomycin and tigecycline were 100%.Klebsiella pneumoniae had high resistance rates to imipenem,cefoperazone/sulbactam,amikacin,and ciprofloxacin,with the lowest resistance rate to *** resistance rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to cefoperazone/sulbactam and imipenem were higher,with the resistance rate to amikacin below 10%.Besides,Escherichia coli had high resistance rates to ciprofloxacin and cefoperazone/sulbactam and low resistance rates to imipenem,amikacin,and *** The pathogenic bacteria isolated from the emergency patients were mainly Acinetobacter baumannii,Staphylococcus aureus,Klebsiella pneumoniae,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,and Candida *** detection rates of drugresistant bacteria were high,with different bacteria having multiple drug resistances to commonly

Five-CpG-based prognostic signature for predicting survival in hepatocellular carcinoma patients

Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a common malignancy associated with high morbidity and mortality rates *** diagnosis plays an important role in the improvement of HCC ***:In this study,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of HCC DNA methylation and gene expression datasets in The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA),to identify a prognostic signature for HCC diagnosis and survival ***,we identified differential methylation CpG(dmCpG)sites in HCC samples and compared them with those in adjacent normal liver tissues;this was followed by univariate analysis and Sure Independence Screening(SIS)in the training *** robustness of the identified prognostic signature was evaluated using the testing *** explore the biological processes involved in HCC progression,we also performed functional enrichment analysis for overlapping genes between genes containing dmCpG sites(DMGs)and differential expression genes(DEGs)in HCC patients,using data from the Database for Annotation,Visualization,and Integrated Discovery(DAVID).Results:As a result,we identified five CpG sites that were significantly associated with HCC survival through univariate analysis and *** analysis of clinical characteristics identified age and risk factors(including alcohol consumption and smoking)as independent factors that indicated HCC *** analysis indicated that the integrated prognostic signature(weighted combination of the five CpG sites)that took age and risk factors into consideration resulted in more accurate survival ***:This study provides a novel signature for predicting HCC survival,and should be helpful for early HCC diagnosis and personalized treatment.

Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection:Which regimen first?

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a well-known human pathogen that plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric malignancies. Although H. pylori is susceptible to several antimicrobials, this infection has proven challenging to cure because of the increasing prevalence of bacterial strains that are resistant to the most commonly used antimicrobials, particularly clarithromycin. An effective (i.e., > 90%) first-line therapy is mandatory for avoiding supplementary treatments and testing, and more importantly for preventing the development of secondary resistance. This study reviews the recent literature on first-line therapies for H. pylori. The eradication rates following standard triple therapy (a proton pump inhibitor plus amoxicillin and clarithromycin) for H. pylori infection are declining worldwide. Several first-line strategies have been proposed to increase the eradication rate, including extending the treatment duration to 14 d, the use of a four-drug regimen (bismuth-containing quadruple, sequential, and concomitant treatments), and the use of novel antibiotics, such as fluoroquinolones. However, the efficacy of these regimens is controversial. A first-line eradication regimen should be based on what works best in a defined geographical area and must take into account the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance in that region.

Qualitative and quantitative analyses of thermal cracking products from Desmodesmus *** performed based on pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(Py-GC/MS)at different temperature regimes(350℃-750℃).After further analysis of a series of total ions chromatogram(TIC)and summarized,thermal cracking products of Desmodesmus *** different temperature regimes can be obtained,which mainly comprised of aliphatic hydrocarbons,nitrogen compounds,aromatic hydrocarbons,fatty acids,ketones,alcohols,aldehydes and furan *** to bio-oil production at 650℃(32.07%),Desmodesmus *** at 750℃could produce the highest bio-oil content of 42.25%.However,higher temperature could lead to the formation of contaminants(nitrogen compounds and PAHs)more ***,considering the higher content of bio-oil conversion and less pollutants generation,the optimum temperature for Desmodesmus *** cracking conversion was about 650℃.

Efficacy Evaluation of a Compound Plant Extract Used in Makeup Base

Cytological test and human skin test were used to study the antioxidant,anti-aging and moisturizing effects of a compound plant extract,and to evaluate its *** cytological test results showed that the compound extract could significantly scavenge the reactive oxygen species(ROS)generated by H2O2 stimulation and protect cells from oxidative *** can significantly inhibit the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1).The results of human skin test showed that the moisture content of cheek stratum corneum,R2 value and Q1 value of skin elasticity were significantly improved after 28 days of continuous use of the Makeup Base product added with the compound plant *** Ra value,Rz value and Rt value of skin texture around eyes have been significantly improved,which shows that the product has the effects of improving the moisture content of stratum corneum,improving skin elasticity and diminishing the fine lines around the eyes;the product has good safety.
