Effect of Progressive Substitution of Cement and Lime by Powdered Shells Used as a Curing Agent for Dredged Soil in a Port Area

This study aimed to address the challenges of solid waste utilization,cost reduction,and carbon reduction in the treatment of deep-dredged soil at Xuwei Port in Lianyungang city of *** research in this area was ***,a curing agent made from powdered shells was used to solidify the dredged soil in *** employed laboratory orthogonal tests to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of the powdered shell-based curing *** was collected by conducting experiments to assess the role of powdered shells in the curing process and to determine the optimal ratios of powdered shells to solidified soil for different *** development of strength in solidified soil was studied in both seawater and pure water *** study revealed that the strength of the solidified soil was influenced by the substitution rate of powdered shells and their interaction with *** cement content had a positive effect on *** high-strength solidified soil,the recommended ratio of wet soil:cement:lime:powdered shells were 100:16:4:4,while for low-strength solidified soil,the recommended ratio was 100:5.4:2.4:***,under appropriate conditions,improved short-term strength by promoting the formation of expansive ettringite minerals that contributed to cementation and *** findings suggest that the combination of cement and powdered shells is synergistic,positively affecting the strength of solidified *** recommended ratios provide practical guidance for achieving desired strength levels while considering factors such as cost and carbon *** role of seawater in enhancing short-term strength through crystal formation is noteworthy and can be advantageous for certain *** conclusion,this research demonstrates the potential of using a powdered shell-based curing agent for solidifying dredged soil in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective *** recommended ratios for different str

Gaussian process regression for prediction and confidence analysis of fruit traits by near-infrared spectroscopy

Detection of fruit traits by using near-infrared(NIR)spectroscopy may encounter out-of-distribution samples that exceed the generalization ability of a constructed calibration ***,confidence analysis for a given prediction is required,but this cannot be done using common calibration models of NIR *** address this issue,this paper studied the Gaussian process regression(GPR)for fruit traits detection using NIR *** mean and variance of the GPR were used as the predicted value and confidence,*** show this,a real NIR data set related to dry matter content measurements in mango was *** to partial least squares regression(PLSR),GPR showed approximately 14%lower root mean squared error(RMSE)for the in-distribution test *** with no confidence analysis,using the variance of GPR to remove abnormal samples made GPR and PLSR showed approximately 58%and 10%lower RMSE on the mixed distribution test set,respectively(when the type 1 error rate was set to 0.1).Compared with traditional one-class classification methods,the variance of the GPR can be used to effectively eliminate poorly predicted samples.

Thermogenic responses in Eurasian Tree Sparrow(Passer montanus)to seasonal acclimatization and temperature-photoperiod acclimation

Background:Small birds in temperate habitats must either migrate,or adjust aspects of their morphology,physiology and behavior to cope with seasonal change in temperature and *** is,however,difficult to accurately measure how seasonal changes in temperature and photoperiod affect physiological processes such as basal metabolic rate(BMR)and metabolic *** address this problem,we collected data in each month of the year on body mass(Mb)and BMR,and conducted a series of experiments to determine the effect of temperature and photoperiod on Mb,BMR and physiological markers of metabolic activity,in the Eurasian Tree Sparrow(Passer montanus).Methods:In one experiment,we measured monthly change in Mb and BMR in a captive group of birds over a *** another experiment,we examined the effects of acclimating birds to two different temperatures,10 and 30℃,and a long and a short photoperiod(16 h light:8 h dark and 8 h light:16 h dark,respectively)for 4 ***:We found that these treatments induced sparrows to adjust their Mb and metabolic rate *** to 30℃for 4 weeks significantly decreased sparrows’Mb,BMR,and energy intake,including both gross energy intake and digestible energy intake,compared to birds acclimated to 10℃.The dry mass of the liver,kidneys and digestive tract of birds acclimated to 30℃also significantly decreased,although their heart and skeletal muscle mass did not change significantly relative to those acclimated to 10℃.Birds acclimated to 30℃also had lower mitochondrial state-4 respiration(S4R)and cytochrome c oxidase(COX)activity in their liver and skeletal muscle,compared to those acclimated to 10℃.Birds acclimated to the long photoperiod also had lower mitochondrial S4R and COX activity in their liver,compared to those acclimated to the short ***:These results illustrate the changes in morphology,physiology,and enzyme activity induced by seasonal change in temperature and photoperiod in a small

Dynamic Evolution with Limited Learning Information on a Small-World Network

This paper investigates the dynamic evolution with limited learning information on a small-world *** the system, the information among the interaction players is not very lucid, and the players are not allowed to inspectthe profit collected by its neighbors, thus the focal player cannot choose randomly a neighbor or the wealthiest one andcompare its payoff to copy its *** is assumed that the information acquainted by the player declines in theform of the exponential with the geographical distance between the players, and a parameter V is introduced to denotethe inspect-ability about the *** is found that under the hospitable conditions, cooperation increases with therandomness and is inhibited by the large connectivity for the prisoner's dilemma; however, cooperation is maximal atthe moderate rewiring probability and is chaos with the connectivity for the snowdrift *** the two games, theacuminous sight is in favor of the cooperation under the hospitable conditions; whereas, the myopic eyes are advantageousto cooperation and cooperation increases with the randomness under the hostile condition.

Recent progress in Ru(Ⅱ)-catalyzed C-H activations with oxidizing directing groups

In this review, we highlight the recent development in Ru（II）-catalyzed C-H activations under redox neutral conditions. After a brief introduction of the C-H activations with oxidizing direct group by different transition metal catalysts, the examples with Ru（ll） catalyst were classified and introduced according to different internal oxidants used in the system. The features of each methodology will be highlighted and the plausible reaction mechanism will be presented if available.

Evolution of a two-mode squeezed vacuum in the amplitude dissipative channel

For the first time we derive the dissipating result of an initial two-mode squeezed pure vacuum state passing through a two-mode amplitude dissipative channel described by the direct product of two independent single-mode master equations. Although these two master equations do not mix the two modes （there is no coupling between them）, since the two-mode squeezed state is simultaneously an entangled state, the final state which emerges from passing this channel is a two-mode mixed density operator. The compact expression of the outcoming state is obtained, which manifestly shows that as time evolves, the squeezing effect decreases.

Seasonal acclimatization and temperature acclimation in small passerine birds is achieved via metabolic adjustments

Temperature and other environmental factors play an integral role in the metabolic adjustments of animals and drive a series of morphological,physiological,and behavioral adaptions essential to ***,it is not clear how the capacity of an organism for temperature acclimation translates into seasonal acclimatization to maintain *** metabolic rate(BMR),evaporative water loss(EWL),and energy budget were measured in the Chinese Hwamei(Garrulax canorus)following winter and summer acclimatization,and in those acclimatized to 15℃(cold)and 35℃(warm)under laboratory conditions for 28 *** addition to the above indicators,internal organ masses,as well as state 4 respiration and cytochrome c oxidase(COX)activity were also measured for the liver,skeletal muscle,heart,and *** winter-acclimatized and cold-acclimated birds exhibited significantly higher BMR,EWL,and energy budget,as well as organ masses,state 4 respiration,and COX activity compared with the summer-acclimatized and warm-acclimated *** indicated that the Chinese Hwamei could adapt to seasonal or just temperature changes through some physiological and biochemical thermogenic adjustments,which would be beneficial to cope with natural environmental changes.A general linear model showed that body mass,BMR,GEI,state 4 respiration in the liver and kidney,and COX activity in the skeletal muscle,liver,and kidney were significantly affected by temperature and acclimation.A positive correlation was observed between BMR and each of the other parameters(body mass,EWL,energy budget,heart dry mass,kidney dry mass,state 4 respiration)in the muscle,heart,and kidney and also between BMR and COX activity in the muscle and *** results suggested that similar to seasonal acclimatization,Chinese Hwameis subjected to temperature acclimation also exhibited significant differences in metabolism-related physiological and biochemical parameters,depending on the *** data also supported
