Coxsackievirus B3(CVB3)is the pathogen causing hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD),which manifests across a spectrum of clinical severity from mild to ***,CVB3-infected mouse models mainly demonstrate viral myocarditis and pancreatitis,failing to replicate human HFMD *** several enteroviruses have been evaluated in Syrian hamsters and rhesus monkeys,there is no comprehensive data on *** this study,we have first tested the susceptibility of Syrian hamsters to CVB3 infection via different *** results showed that Syrian hamsters were successfully infected with CVB3 by intraperitoneal injection or nasal drip,leading to nasopharyngeal colonization,acute severe pathological injury,and typical HFMD ***,the nasal drip group exhibited a longer viral excretion cycle and more severe pathological *** the subsequent study,rhesus monkeys infected with CVB3 through nasal drips also presented signs of HFMD symptoms,viral excretion,serum antibody conversion,viral nucleic acids and antigens,and the specific organ damages,particularly in the ***,there were no significant differences in myocardial enzyme levels,and the clinical symptoms resembled those often associated with common,mild *** summary,the study successfully developed severe Syrian hamsters and mild rhesus monkey models for CVB3-induced *** models could serve as a basis for understanding the disease pathogenesis,conducting pre-trial prevention and evaluation,and implementing post-exposure intervention.

Particulate matter with diameters≤2.5μm(PM_(2.5))has been identified as a significant air pollutant contributing to premature ***,the specific compositions within PM_(2.5) that play the most crucial role remain unclear,especially in areas with high pollution *** study aims to investigate the individual and joint mortality risks associated with PM_(2.5) inorganic chemical compositions and identify primary *** 1998,we conducted a prospective cohort study in four northern Chinese cities(Tianjin,Shenyang,Taiyuan,and Rizhao).Satellite-based machine learning models calculated PM_(2.5) inorganic chemical compositions,including sulfate(SO_(4)^(2–)),nitrate(NO_(3)^(–)),ammonium(NH_(4)^(+)),and chloride(Cl^(-)).A time-varying Cox proportional hazards model was applied to analyze associations between these compositions and cardiorespiratory mortality,encompassing nonaccidental causes,cardiovascular diseases(CVDs),nonmalignant respiratory diseases(RDs),and lung *** quantile-based g-computation model evaluated joint exposure effects and relative contributions of the *** analysis was used to identify vulnerable *** 785,807 person-years of follow-up,5812(15.5%)deaths occurred from nonaccidental causes,including 2932(7.8%)from all CVDs,479(1.3%)from nonmalignant RDs,and 552(1.4%)from lung *** interquartile range(IQR)increase in SO_(4)^(2–)was associated with mortality from nonaccidental causes(hazard ratio:1.860;95%confidence interval:1.809,1.911),CVDs(1.909;1.836,1.985),nonmalignant RDs(2.178;1.975,2.403),and lung cancer(1.773;1.624,1.937).In the joint exposure model,a simultaneous rise of one IQR in all four compositions increased the risk of cardiorespiratory mortality by at least 36.3%,with long-term exposure to SO_(4)^(2–)contributing the most to nonaccidental and cardiopulmonary *** with higher incomes and lower education levels were found to be more vulnerable.

Objective:The goal of this study is to analyze the epidemiological patterns of dengue fever across different districts and counties in Yunnan Province from 2010 to ***:In this study,we employed joinpoint regression analysis,spatial autocorrelation analysis,and space-time scan analysis to illustrate the spatiotemporal propagation and demographic influence of dengue fever,using both graphical and tabular presentations to clearly demonstrate the ***:Yunnan Province reported 14,098 cases of dengue fever during the period from 2010 to *** these,11,513 cases were caused by local transmission,2,566 were imported internationally,and 19 were inter-provincial *** trends emerged,revealing a surge in incidences during the summer and autumn *** sex ratio of male to female cases was 1:0.88,with a significant majority of 82.00%of cases involving individuals belonging to the age group of *** service workers constituted the most impacted occupational group,forming 20.96%of total cases.A spatio-temporal scan identified significant clustering of dengue fever cases across space and time,with the most pronounced cluster observed in southern Yunnan,primarily between 2015 and ***:Dengue fever in Yunnan Province manifests as biennial outbreaks,underscoring the necessity for increased surveillance,particularly in counties bordering other regions.

AIM To measure the willingness to pay for colorectal cancer screening in Guangzhou, and to identify those factors associated with it. METHODS A face-to-face questionnaire survey for pre-screening population from free and non-free colonoscopy districts was used to collect information on demographic characteristics, health behaviours, the intention of the cancer screenings and willingness to pay for colorectal cancer screening. A total of 1243 participants who took part in the pre-screening for colorectal cancer in Guangzhou were collected in the study. Categorical data were compared using the χ~2 test to analyse significant differences. Non-conditional logistic regression and multi-class logistic regression were also performed for multivariate analysis and to estimate the odds *** The percentage of participants willing to pay for colorectal cancer screening was 91.7%. "Unnecessary" was the dominant reason that participants gave for their unwillingness, accounting for 63.1%. Of those who were willing to pay, 29.2%, 20.7%, 14.8%, 13.0% and 22.4% of participants were willing to pay less than $100, $100-$199, $200-299, $300-$399 and more than $400, respectively. Non-logistic regression analysis showed that respondents who were male, had a high level of education, were from the family with more children/older to raise, and accepted colorectal cancer screening were willing to pay for this screening. Multi-class logistic regression analysis showed that respondents with higher annual household income per capita, from government and private enterprises, government agency/institution and peasants, and less family medical expenditure were willing to pay *** Willingness to pay for colorectal cancer screening in Guangzhou is high, but the amount of willing to pay is not much.

Association of miRNA-122-binding site polymorphism at the interleukin-1 a gene and its interaction with hepatitis B virus mutations with hepatocellular carcinoma risk

This study was designed to investigate the contribution of miRNA-122-binding site polymorphism at the IL-1A gene and its multiplicative interactions with hepatitis B virus （HBV） mutations in the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. A total of 1021 healthy controls, 302 HBV surface antigen （HBsAg） seroclearance subjects, and 2011 HBsAg-positive subjects （including 1021 HCC patients） were enrolled in this study. Quantitative PCR was used to genotype rs3783553. HBV mutations were determined by direct sequencing. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to test the associations of rs3783553, mutations, and their interactions with the risk of HCC. No significant association was found between rs3783553 and the risk of HCC among healthy controls, HBsAg seroclearance subjects, HBsAg-positive subjects without HCC, and all controls. Additionally, rs3783553 was not significantly associated with chronic HBV infection, liver cirrhosis, HBV e antigen seroconversion, abnormal alanine aminotransferase, and high viral load （〉 10^4 copies/ml）. However, the TTCA insertion allele of rs3783553 was significantly associated with an increased frequency of HBV C7A mutation compared with homozygous TTCA deletion carriers [（del/ins ＋ ins/ins） vs. del/del, adjusted odds ratio （OR）= 1.48, 95% confidence interval （CI）= 1.09-2.02, P = 0.013]. Multiplicative interaction of rs3783553 with HBV preS deletion significantly reduced the risk of HCC in males, with an adjusted OR of 0.64 （95% CI = 0.42-0.98; P = 0.041） after age and HBV genotype were adjusted. Although rs3783553 did not significantly affect genetic susceptibility to HBV-related HCC, its variant allele may predispose the host to selecting HBV C7A mutation during evolution and significantly reduce the risk of HCC caused by HBV preS deletion.
