Viscosity and structure relationship with equimolar substitution of CaO with MgO in the CaO–MgO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)slag melts

Currently,the Al_(2)O_(3)content in the high-alumina slag systems within blast furnaces is generally limited to 16wt%–18.5wt%,making it challenging to overcome this *** most studies that concentrated on managing the MgO/Al_(2)O_(3)ratio or basicity,this paper explored the effect of equimolar substitution of MgO for CaO on the viscosity and structure of a high-alumina CaO-MgO-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)slag system,providing theoretical guidance and data to facilitate the application of high-alumina *** results revealed that the viscosity first decreased and then increased with higher MgO substitution,reaching a minimum at 15mol%MgO *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)results found that the depths of the troughs representing[SiO_(4)]tetrahedra,[AlO_(4)]tetrahedra,and Si-O-Al bending became progressively deeper with increased MgO *** of the Raman spectra showed that the average number of bridging oxygens per Si atom and the X_(Q^(3))/X_(Q^(2))(X_(Q^(i))is the molar fraction of Q^(i) unit,and i is the number of bridging oxygens in a[SiO_(4)]tetrahedral unit)ratio increased from 2.30 and 1.02 to 2.52 and 2.14,respectively,indicating a progressive polymerization of the silicate structure.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results highlighted that non-bridging oxygen content decreased from 77.97mol% to 63.41mol% with increasing MgO concentration,whereas bridging oxygen and free oxygen contents *** analysis demonstrated a gradual increase in the polymerization degree of the tetrahedral structure with the increase in MgO ***,bond strength is another important factor affecting the slag *** occurrence of a viscosity minimum can be attributed to the complex evolution of bond strengths of non-bridging oxygens generated during depolymerization of the[SiO_(4)]and[AlO_(4)]tetrahedral structures by CaO and MgO.

The utilization of iron coke provides a green pathway for low-carbon *** uncover the influence mechanism of iron ore on the behavior and kinetics of iron coke gasification,the effect of iron ore on the microstructure of iron coke was ***,a comparative study of the gasification reactions between iron coke and coke was conducted through non-isothermal thermogravimetric *** findings indicate that compared to coke,iron coke exhibits an augmentation in micropores and specific surface area,and the micropores further extend and *** provides more adsorption sites for CO_(2) molecules during the gasification process,resulting in a reduction in the initial gasification temperature of iron *** the heating rate in non-isothermal gasification can enhance the reactivity of iron *** metallic iron reduced from iron ore is embedded in the carbon matrix,reducing the orderliness of the carbon structure,which is primarily responsible for the heightened reactivity of the carbon *** kinetic study indicates that the random pore model can effectively represent the gasification process of iron coke due to its rich pore ***,as the proportion of iron ore increases,the activation energy for the carbon gasification gradually decreases,from 246.2 kJ/mol for coke to 192.5 kJ/mol for iron coke 15wt%.

Investigation of bubbles escape behavior from low basicity mold flux for high-Mn high-Al steels using 3D X-ray microscope

During the continuous casting process of high-Mn high-Al steels,various types of gases such as Ar need to escape through the top of the *** which,the behavior of bubbles traversing the liquid slag serves as a restrictive link,closely associated with viscosity and the thickness of liquid *** contrast to two-dimensional surface observation,three-dimensional(3D)analysis method can offer a more intuitive,accurate,and comprehensive ***,this study employs a 3D X-ray microscope(3D-XRM)to obtained spatial distribution and 3D morphological characteristics of residual bubbles in mold flux under different basicity of liquid slag,different temperatures,and different holding *** results indicate that as basicity of slag increases from 0.52 to 1.03,temperature increases from 1423 to 1573 K,the viscosity of slag decreases,the floating rate of bubbles *** addition,when holding time increases from 10 to 30 s,the bubbles floating distance increases,and the volume fraction and average equivalent sphere diameter of the bubbles solidified in the mold flux gradually *** one word,increasing the basicity,temperature,and holding time leading to an increase in the removal rate of bubbles especially for the *** findings of bubbles escape behavior provide valuable insights into optimizing low basicity mold flux for high-Mn high-Al steels.

Properties and structure of a new non-reactive mold flux for high-Al steel

During the conventional continuous casting process of high-aluminum steels(w([Al])>0.5 wt.%),some components of slag,such as SiO_(2),B_(2)O_(3),and TiO_(2),could be reduced by aluminum in molten ***,the CaO-BaO-Al_(2)O_(3)-CaF2-Li2O non-reactive mold fluxes were designed using the simplex grid method and molecular dynamics to mitigate the slag-metal interface reaction and stabilize the performance of mold *** results show that the components of nonreactive quinary system are 20-40 wt.% CaO,14-34 wt.% BaO,14-34 wt.% Al_(2)O_(3),4-12 wt.% F,and 4-8 wt.% Li_(2)*** dynamics simulation results show that[AlO_(4)]-tetrahedron acts as network formers and melt network structure is mainly chain and lamellar in the low-viscosity *** cross sections of w(F)=8 wt.%,w(Li_(2)O)=8 wt.%and w(F)=12 wt.%,w(Li2O)=8 wt.% are important reference sections for the design of mold flux,with the compositions of 22-40 wt.%CaO,14-34 wt.% BaO,20-34 wt.%Al_(2)O_(3) and 23-40 wt.%CaO,14-34 wt.%BaO,20-28 wt.% Al_(2)O_(3),respectively.

Effect of titanium content on the precipitation behavior of carbon-saturated molten pig iron

The use of iron ores bearing titanium as a raw material is an effective measure to prevent hearth erosion and prolong the life of a blast furnace. In this research, the effect of titanium content on the precipitation behaviors of high-melting phases of carbon-saturated molten pig iron were studied by confocal scanning laser microscopy. The results showed that, when the titanium content was less than 0.25 wt%,Fe_3C was precipitated as a single phase from the molten carbon-saturated iron. The growth rate of the precipitated Fe_3C crystals was very high, reaching 7387 μm^2/s. When the titanium content in the molten pig iron was greater than 0.47 wt%, TiC crystals precipitated first. The shape and size of the precipitated TiC crystals did not obviously change. After TiC was precipitated, the fluidity of the molten pig iron worsened. With a decrease in temperature, Fe_3C was also precipitated but the growth rate of Fe_3C was limited by the presence of the first precipitated TiC phase. The crystal size of the precipitated Fe_3C was much smaller than that of pure Fe_3C.

Phase-field method for growth of iron whiskers in the presence of CO gas convection

A phase-field model for growth of iron whiskers that includes convection around a particle was investigated during the process of fluidized pre-reduction. In the simulations, the phase-field method was coupled with flow field and reduction of iron oxide particles. The results showed that the reduction rate at local place had significant effects on the iron ions diffusion and the iron whiskers were more easily grown on the area containing low mole fraction of oxygen. The growth of iron whiskers in the model was investigated in two important simple situations: a velocity change flow and a CO concentration change flow. Because of high reduction rate and low surface energy, iron whiskers were more easily grown on the windward surface and the length of iron whiskers increased with gas velocity increasing. However, both the length and numbers of iron whiskers increased with CO concentration increasing due to the more nucleation site of iron whiskers created by CO adsorbed. When the gas velocity is higher than 0.3 m/s or CO mole fraction is high than 0.6, the nucleation incubation time would be rapidly decreased, which could give suggestions to control the operational parameters in the fluidized pre-reduction process.

In situ coupled MoO_(3)with CoP/rGO to construct three-dimensional self-supported catalyst for highly efficient alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction

In order to solve the crisis of energy depletion and protect the beautiful natural environment,the development of efficient,cost-effective and stable hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalyst has attracted great attention,but it is still an urgent challenge to fabricate an abundant and low cost *** this article,a novel HER catalyst with heterogeneous structure interfaces was in situ synthesized by multi-step electrodeposition method,and the mechanism of the enhancement of its electrocatalytic activity was elucidated by the combination of density functional theory(DFT)calculation and *** initial overpotential is only 83 mV and the Tafel slope is only 58.5 mV/dec,which is better than most of other reported CoP-based *** the meantime,DFT calculations show that the incorporation of MoO_(3)and rGO leads to electron redistribution among different components,which ensures efficient adsorption and activation of H_(2)O molecules and hydrogen ***,this work will contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms associated with heterojunctions and provide guidance for the rational design of a hybrid catalyst.

Effect of TiO2 on reduction behavior of Cr2O3 in CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-TiO2-Cr2O3 by carbon from Fe-C melt

The chromium-bearing titanomagnetite ore will turn to be the important raw material for blast furnace process in Panxi area,*** reduction behavior of Cr2O3 between CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-TiO2-Cr2O3 and Fe-C systems was *** effect of TiO2 content in the slag system on the reduction of Cr2O3,TiO2,and SiO2 and the con sumption of C in hot metal was investigated by both theoretical calculation and physical *** theoretical calculation results reveal that higher reduction temperature promotes the reduction of Cr and Ti,while high basicity and TiO2 content have little influence on the reduction of chromium but significantly influence the reduction of *** smelting reduction experiment results show that the content of Cr in hot metal significantly in creases with extendi ng the reduction time and decreases with the increase in TiO2 ***,the content of Ti in hot metal significantly increases as the TiO2 increases,reaching 0.073,0.085,0.107,and 0.121 wt.%for 5,10,15,and 20 wt.%of TiO2 input,*** studies proved that the reduction of Cr2O3 was a first-order *** addition of TiO2 inhibited the reduction of Cr2O3 and resulted in the decrease in reaction rate constant.

Optimization of submerged entry nozzle parameters for ultra-high casting speed continuous casting mold of billet

Controlling the flow behavior in the mold in an appropriate way is the basis for realizing the billet ultra-high speed continuous *** on the new proposed physical water modeling experiment considering the effects of solidified shell and hydrostatic pressure,the flow behavior in the mold with cross section of 160 mm 9160 mm during continuous casting of billet is regulated by optimizing the inner diameters and immersion depths of submerged entry nozzle at the ultra-high casting speeds of 5.0–6.5 m/*** results show that under the premise of no slag entrainment,as well as uniform coverage and keeping good fluidity of liquid slag layer on the top free surface of the fluid in the mold,the appropriate parameters of submerged entry nozzle under the ultra-high casting speed of billet are 50 mm in inner diameter,95 mm in outer diameter and 180 mm in immersion *** on the basis of the obtained parameters of submerged entry nozzle,it can be known that the reasonable ranges of level fluctuation and impacting depth of the stream in the mold are about 0.82-1.11 and 593-617 mm,respectively.

Correlation between longitudinal crack occurrence and mold heat transfer in continuous casting based on process data mining

The correlation between the longitudinal crack occurrence and integrated heat transfer of the mold with data mining methods was ***,three kinds of support vector machine models based on principal component analysis with different input features were established to explore the effect of integrated heat transfer on the accuracy of the prediction model for the longitudinal *** results show that the accuracy was improved while features including mean and standard deviation of integrated heat transfer were ***,the difference in integrated heat transfer between defect and normal samples under the same process parameters was quantitatively *** with normal samples,the temperature difference of cooling water for defect samples decreased by 0.65%,and the temperature difference fluctuation increased by 31.1%.Finally,the literature data were used to provide support for the quantitative correlation according to defect formation mechanism.A new criterion for the prediction of longitudinal crack and a discovering method for correlation between product quality and process parameters in the manufacturing industry have been provided.
