Metabolites and metabolism-related gene expression profiles in skeletal muscle change dramatically under obesity, aging and metabolic disease. Since obese and lean pigs are ideal models for metabolic research. Here, we compared metabolome and transcriptome of Longissimus dorsi(LD) muscle between Taoyuan black(TB, obese) and Duroc(lean) pigs at different ages. We defined the “window phase” of intramuscular fat(IMF) deposition in TB pig, which has significantly higher IMF than Duroc pig. Our results displayed discrepant lipid composition and different expression genes(DEGs) enriched in lipid metabolism, and both metabolome and transcriptome analyses revealed stronger energy expenditure and more active amino acid and protein metabolism in Duroc pig. 10 up-and 51 down-regulated biomarker metabolites with age-and breed-specificity were identified. Potential secretory metabolites, including organic acid(fumaric acid, succinate,malic acid, and gamma-aminobutyric acid), amino acid(L-lysine, and L-glutamic acid), lipid(2-hydroxyisovaleric acid, and L-carnitine) were demonstrated a significant correlation with IMF deposition. Our research highlights the huge difference of metabolic spectrum in skeletal muscle between obese and lean model and muscle-derived secretory metabolites might act as an ambassador of intercellular communication to regulate systematic metabolism.

Alzheimer’s disease not only affects the brain,but also induces metabolic dysfunction in peripheral organs and alters the gut *** aim of this study was to investigate systemic changes that occur in Alzheimer’s disease,in particular the association between changes in peripheral organ metabolism,changes in gut microbial composition,and Alzheimer’s disease *** do this,we analyzed peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota in amyloid precursor protein-presenilin 1(APP/PS1)transgenic and control mice at 3,6,9,and 12 months of ***-month-old APP/PS1 mice exhibited cognitive impairment,Alzheimer’s disease-related brain changes,distinctive metabolic disturbances in peripheral organs and fecal samples(as detected by untargeted metabolomics sequencing),and substantial changes in gut microbial composition compared with younger APP/PS1 ***,a strong correlation emerged between the gut microbiota and kidney metabolism in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that alterations in peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota are closely related to Alzheimer’s disease development,indicating potential new directions for therapeutic strategies.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

In April 2013, the US chinese Anti-Cancer association (USCACA) held its 5th annual meeting in conjunction with the American association for Cancer Research (AACR) 2013 Annual Meeting in Washington DC. The USCACA executive committee reported activities and programs and highlighted the partnership and collaboration between USCACA and other major organizations. The key initiatives and programs of USCACA included 1) USCACA-TIGM Esophageal Cancer Program that funds translational research of esophageal cancer prevention and treatment at the Xinxiang Medical University in Henan province, China; 2) the USCACA-NFCR-AFCR Scholarship Program, which has supported 10 young outstanding chinese cancer researchers and will award 4 fellowships at the Guangzhou International Symposium on Oncology in November this year; 3) USCACA-Hengrui Training Program for Early Phase Clinical Research, which has supported the training of a chinese scholar at two major cancer centers in the US; and 4) USCACA has continued its partnership with the chinese Journal of Cancer, which has reached significant international impact.

Systematicly tuning the porosities of porous materials is crucial for targeted gas mixture separation,yet it remains a longstanding *** a common strategy,altering the phenylene ring count in the organic building units has been exploited to adjust pore apertures in metal organic frameworks （MOFs） and covalent organic frameworks （COFs）,resulting in only a stepwise pore size variation of approximately 2.8?.Unlike MOFs and COFs,the porosities for supramolecular assembly frameworks are highly dependent on the packings of the molecular building units in the *** above strategy cannot be applied to supramolecular assembly frameworks and other strategies are required to adjust pore apertures in supramolecular frameworks,especially to achieve porous materials with the optimal pore size for D2/H2separation （～3?）.Here,we successfully modulate the porosity of supramolecular frameworks of[CoII1+12CoIII8L12（μ3-OH）24（X）]1clusters （L=mono-deprotonated 1-iminoisoindole-3-amine,X=ClO?4or Cl?） by controlling the duration of self-assembly *** simply adjusting the reaction time,we obtain three[CoII12CoIII8L12（μ3-OH）24（X）]11+supramolecular frameworks:[CoII12CoIII8（μ3-OH）24（ClO4）L12)]·（Cl）4·（HCO2）7（1）,[CoII12CoIII8L12（μ3-OH）24（Cl）]·（ClOI4）4·（Cl）6·（HCO2）·（H2O）10（2）,and[CoI12CoIII8L12（μ3-OH）24（Cl）]·（Cl）11·（H2O）12（3）.The different stacking patterns of the[CoII12CoIII8L12（μ3-OH）24（X）]11+clusters in these frameworks lead to significantly varied stabilities and *** 1 exhibits permanent porosity with interconnected channels and maintains stability under harsh *** contrast,compound 2 is nearly nonporous,and compound 3 becomes unstable upon *** pores of compound 1 show higher affinity to D2than H2,and the pore aperture diameter of compound 1 （～3.06?） meets the optimal porosity for D2/***,compound 1 demonstrates moderate D2/H2separation at 77 K (retention time:～7 min/g for D2/H2/Ne （10/10/80 vol%） in a flow of 5 mL

The role of living collections-based research and discovery has been a prominent feature throughout the history of evolution and advance of botanical science: such research is the core and soul of the botanical gardens. Currently, there are c. 162 chinese botanical gardens, harboring c. 20,000 species in China. As an example of initiatives to utilize the garden cultivated flora to address plant diversity conservation and germplasm discovery for sustainable agriculture and the bio-industries, the Ex situ Flora of China project aims to catalog and document this mega-diversity of plants that are cultivated in the chinese botanical gardens. The concept of Ex situ Flora of China is a complete new formulation of species, based on garden cultivated individuals and populations, to obtain better morphological descriptions, provide multipurpose applicability and a fundamental data service that will support national bio-strategies and bioindustries. It emphasises integrative information, accurately collected from living collections across different chinese botanical gardens, on biology, phenology, cultivation requirements and uses of plant resources, which are normally not available from traditional Floras based on herbarium specimens. The ex situ flora should provide better information coverage for taxonomy, biological and introduction and collection data and color photos of stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seed, as well as useful information of cultivation key points and main use of each plant. In general, the Ex situ Flora of China provides more useful information than the traditional Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae. The project of Ex situ Flora of China is planned to be one of the most important initiatives of the plant diversity research platform for sustainable economic and social development in China.

The diagnostic criterion of blood stasis syndrome（BSS） established in 1986 is a milestone in BSSdifferentiation of chinese medicine （CM）. However,different disease has its own characteristics in BSS,thus establishing a BBS criterion of disease-syndromecombination has significance in clinical and basicstudies. BSS is the most common syndrome typeof CM in coronary heart disease （CHD）, but thereis not diagnostic criterion of BSS for CHD based ondisease-syndrome combination to date.
