The use of a Fe-based metal organic framework（MOF）, namely MIL-88B（Fe）, as active material for lithium ion batteries（LIBs） is reported for the first time in the present work. Fe-based MOF demonstrated high capacity, excellent cycling stability and rate performance when used as anode. A highly reversible capacity of 680 mAhg^（-1） after 500 cycles at a current density of 200 m A g^（-1） was obtained. In addition, Fe2O3 and Fe3O4/C composites were obtained from Fe-based MOFs through thermal treatment. Both Fe2O3 and Fe3O4/C composites demonstrated high capacity and excellent cycling stability.

La Ni3.8Al1.0Mn0.2 alloy was prepared by vacuum induction melting and melt-spinning.The effects of different preparation techniques of the as-cast,cast then annealed,as-spun and spun then annealed alloys on the microstructure and hydrogen storage properties were investigated.The results indicated that the non-Ca Cu5 phases in the alloy became tinier and more dispersive after annealing or melt-spinning compared to those of the as-cast one.But in the spun then annealed alloy,the non-Ca Cu5 phases disappeared and only a single-phase with Ca Cu5 type structure was found.For all the alloys,the cell volume was increased in an order of as-cast 〈 spun then annealed 〈 cast then annealed 〈 as-spun,and the change of plateau pressure showed the opposite trend with that of the cell volume.The plateau could be flattened after melt-spinning or annealing,and the spun then annealed alloy showed the minimum plateau slope.The absorption kinetics of the alloy was promoted after melt-spinning or annealing.It is suggested that the change in cell volume and compositional homogeneity resulting from different preparation techniques contribute to the difference of the hydrogen storage properties of the investigated alloys.

This paper presents a concise summary of recent studies on the long-term variations of haze in NorthChina and on the environmental and dynamic conditions for severe persistent haze events. Resultsindicate that haze days have an obviously rising trend over the past 50 years in North China. Theoccurrence frequency of persistent haze events has a similar rising trend due to the continuous riseof winter temperatures, decrease of surface wind speeds, and aggravation of atmospheric stability. InNorth China, when severe persistent haze events occur, anomalous southwesterly winds prevail in thelower troposphere, providing sufficient moisture for the formation of haze. Moreover, North China ismainly controlled by a deep downdraft in the mid-lower troposphere, which contributes to reducing thethickness of the planetary boundary layer, obviously reducing the atmospheric capacity for pollutants.This atmospheric circulation and sinking motion provide favorable conditions for the formation andmaintenance of haze in North China.

We suggest a new family of Co/Ni-based materials that may host unconventional high temperature superconductivity(high-Tc). These materials carry layered square lattices with each layer being formed by vertex-shared transition metal tetrahedra cation–anion complexes. The electronic physics in these materials is determined by the two dimensional layer and is fully attributed to the three near degenerated t2gd-orbitals close to a d7 filling configuration in the d-shell of Co/Ni atoms. The electronic structure meets the necessary criteria for unconventional high Tcmaterials proposed recently by us to unify the two known high-Tcfamilies, cuprates and iron-based superconductors. We predict that they host superconducting states with a d-wave pairing symmetry with Tcpotentially higher than those of iron-based superconductors. These materials, if realized, can be a fertile new ground to study strongly correlated electronic physics and provide decisive evidence for superconducting pairing mechanism.

Anti-tumor effects of combined doxorubicin and siRNA for pulmonary delivery

Direct administration of drugs and genes to the lungs by pulmonary delivery offers a potential effective therapy for lung cancers.In this study,combined doxorubicin（DOX） and Bcl2 siRNA was employed for cancer therapy using polyethylenimine（PEI） as the carrier of Bcl2 siRNA.Most of the DOX and siRNA possessed high cellular uptake efficiency in B16F10 cells,which was proved by FCM and CLSM analysis.Real-time PCR showed that PEI/Bcl2 siRNA exhibited high gene silencing efficiency with 70%Bcl2 mRNA being knocked down.The combination of DOX and siRNA could enhance the cell proliferation inhibition and the cell apoptosis against B16F10 cells compared to free DOX or PEI/Bcl2 siRNA.Furthermore,the biodistribution of DOX and siRNA via pulmonary administration was studied in mice with B16F10 metastatic lung cancer.The results showed that most of the DOX and siRNA were accumulated in lungs and lasted at least for 3 days,which suggested that combined DOX and siRNA by pulmonary administration may have high anti-tumor effects for metastatic lung cancer treatment in vivo.

Understanding the heterogeneous catalytic properties of nanoparticles is of great significance for the development of high efficient nanocatalysts, but the intrinsic heterogeneities of nanocatalysts were always covered in traditional ensemble studies. This issue can be overcome if one can follow the catalysis of individual nanoparticles in real time. This paper mainly summarizes recent developments in singlemolecule nanocatalysis at single particle level in Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, chinese academy of Sciences. These developments include the revealing of catalytic kinetics of different types(plane & edge) of surface atoms on individual Pd nanocubes, the observing of in situ deactivation of individual carbon-supported Pt nanoparticles during the electrocatalytic hydrogen-oxidation reaction, and the measurement of catalytic activation energies on single nanocatalysts for both product formation process and dissociation process, etc. These studies further indicate the advantages or unique abilities of single-molecule methods in the studies of nanocatalysis or even chemical reactions.

It has been well documented that Tel1 positively regulates telomere-end resection by promoting Mre11-Rad50-Xrs2（MRX） activity, while Rif2 negatively regulates telomere-end resection by inhibiting MRX activity. At uncapped telomeres, whether Tel1 or Rif2 plays any role remains largely unknown. In this work, we examined the roles of Tel1 and Rif2 at uncapped telomeres in yku70△ and/or cdc13-1 mutant cells cultured at non-permissive temperature. We found that deletion of TEL1 exacerbates the temperature sensitivity of both yku70△ and cdc13-1 cells. Further epistasis analysis indicated that MRX and Tel1 function in the same pathway in telomere protection. Consistently, TEL1 deletion increases accumulation of Exo1-dependent telomeric single-stranded DNA（ssDNA） at uncapped telomeres, which stimulates checkpoint-dependent cell cycle arrest. Moreover, TEL1 deletion in yku70△ cells facilitates Rad51-dependent Y0 recombination. In contrast, RIF2 deletion in yku70△ cells decreases the accumulation of telomeric ssDNA after 8 h of incubation at the non-permissive temperature of 37℃ and suppresses the temperature sensitivity of yku70△ cells, likely due to the increase of Mre11 association at telomeres.Collectively, our findings indicate that Tel1 and Rif2 regulate telomere protection at uncapped telomeres via their roles in balancing MRX activity in telomere resection.
