Objective Leukoaraiosis（LA）,named as white matter lesions（WML）,is a common finding on magnetic resonance imaging（MRI） of the brain in elderly people with prevalence from 50 to 100%worldwide,mainly characterized by patchy demyelination,loss of oligodendroglial cells,axonal loss and denudation of the ependyma in regions of white matter ***,the mechanisms leading to the pathophysiology and neuroimaging abnormalities of the cerebral white matter have yet been poorly understood to *** approach is to identify an epigenetic basis for this complicated illness and further to decipher the pathogenic genes and its associated molecular mechanisms from the occurrence to the progression of LA through a deep going case-control study of *** All subjects were recruited in this study based on our new MRI-pathoimaging categorization of LA（Normal,Type Ⅰ LA,Type Ⅱ LA）.We conducted genome-scale methylation analysis among those three groups of *** methylation-associated genetic difference in both occurrence and progression of LA,were verified by pyrosequencing and further ontologically predicted into pathogenic mechanism/***（1） As many as 152 and 198 genes were identified to show meaningful dissimilarity in the occurrence and progression of LA,***,32genes were shared in between these two pathological processes.（2） Ontology analysis highlighted the epigenetic disruption in major mechanism of immune response（T-cell-,cytokine- and interferon-mediated signaling pathways）,neuron behaviors（development and interactive synaptic transmission/assembling） and cell performance（adhesion and apoptosis）.（3） Most meaningful methylation difference were validated by independent LA population（n=54）.Conclusion For the very first time,aberrant DNA methylation were reported,which are allied with both occurrence and progression of LA from chinese *** that,most of LA-associated methylated genes and pathways were strongly

Objective: This study aimed to develop a nomogram to predict the 1-year survival of patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreatectomy following neoadjuvant treatment with preoperatively detectable clinical parameters. Extended pancreatectomy is necessary to achieve complete tumor removal in borderline resectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer. However, it increases postoperative morbidity and mortality rates, and should be balanced with potential benefit of long-term ***: The medical records of patients who underwent pancreatectomy following neoadjuvant treatment from January 2005 to December 2016 at Severance Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Medical records were collected from five international institutions from Japan and Singapore for external ***: A total of 113 patients were enrolled. The nomogram for predicting 1-year disease-specific survival was created based on 5 clinically detectable preoperative parameters as follows: age(year), symptom(no/yes), tumor size at initial diagnostic stage(cm), preoperative serum carbohydrate antigen(CA) 19-9 level after neoadjuvant treatment(<34/≥34 U/m L), and planned surgery [pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)(pylorus-preserving PD)/distal pancreatectomy(DP)/total pancreatectomy]. Model performance was assessed for discrimination and *** calibration plot showed good agreement between actual and predicted survival probabilities;the the Greenwood-Nam-D’Agostino(GND) goodness-of-fit test showed that the model was well calibrated(χ~2=8.24,P=0.5099). A total of 84 patients were used for external validation. Fungi play vital roles in ecosystems as endophytes,pathogens and *** current estimate of fungal diversity is highly uncertain,ranging from 1.5 to 12 million,but only around 150,000 species have been named and classified to *** the introduction of DNA based methods for species identification,the number of newly described taxa has increased from approximately 1000 to around 2000 *** demonstrates the importance of DNA based methods to identify and distin-guish species,especially cryptic *** novel species from recent studies have been found in historically understudied regions and habitats,but these still represent only a small percentage of the estimated *** this paper,we examine 16 genera from the top 40 most speciose genera as listed in Species Fungorum as case studies to examine the diversity of taxa in each *** genera treated herein are Cercospora,Diaporthe,Meliola,Passalora,Phyllachora,Phyllosticta,Pseudocer-cospora,Ramularia(ascomycetes)and Cortinarius,Entoloma,Inocybe,Marasmius,Psathyrella,Puccinia,Russula,Uromyces(basidiomycetes).We critically evaluate the number of species in these genera and correlate these numbers with the number of entries in *** introduce 18 new species Apiospora multiloculata,Candolleomyces thailandensis,Cortinarius acutoproximus,Cortinarius melleoalbus,Cortinarius pacificus,Cortinarius parvoacetosus,Diaporthe guizhouensis,Entoloma pseudosubcorvinum,Inocybe meirensongia,Marasmius albulus,Marasmius obscuroaurantiacus,Meliola camporesii,Phyl-lachora siamensis,Phyllosticta doitungensis,Picipes yuxiensis,Pseudocercospora vignae,Puccinia maureanui and Russula *** also introduce a new record of Candolleomyces cladii-marisci and Inocybe *** discuss the genera Colletotrichum and Pleurotus that are speciose,but do not occur in the top *** hypothesize whether there might be more species in these genera and discuss why these genera have some of the largest number of specie

Magnetic behaviors of cerium oxide-based thin films deposited using electrochemical method

Zn and Co multi-doped CeO2 thin films have been prepared using an anodic electrochemical method. The structures and magnetic behaviors are characterized by several techniques, in which the oxygen states in the lattice and the absorptive oxygen bonds at the surface are carefully examined. The absorptive oxygen bond is about 50% of the total oxygen bond by using a semi-quantitative method. The value of actual stoichiometry δ′ is close to 2. The experimental results indicate that the thin films are of a cerium oxide-based solid solution with few oxygen vacancies in the lattice and many absorptive oxygen bonds at the surface. Week ferromagnetic behaviors were evidenced by observed M-H hysteresis loops at room temperature. Furthermore, an evidence of relative ferromagnetic contributions was revealed by the temperature dependence of magnetization. It is believed that the ferromagnetic contributions exhibited in the M-H loops originate from the absorptive oxygen on the surface rather than the oxygen vacancies in the lattice.

Two new steroidal glycosides from the root of Cynanchum auriculatum

Two new steroidal glycosides named cyanoauriculoside A （1） and B （2）, have been isolated from the roots of Cynanchum auriculatum Royle ex Wight. The structure of cyanoauriculoside A （1） was determined to be 20-O-acetyl-penupogenin-3-O-β-D- glucopyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-β-D-glucopyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-α -L-cymaropyranosyl- （ 1 →4）-β-D-cymaropyranosyl- （ 1 →4）-α-L-diginopyranosyl-（1→4）-β-D-cymaropyranoside. Cyanoauriculoside B （2） was characterized as 20-O-acetylpenupogenin-3-O-β-D-gluco- pyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-α-L-cymaropyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-β-D-cymaropyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-α-L-diginopyranosyl-（ 1 →4）-β-D-cymaropyranoside. The structures of these compounds were elucidated based on the chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
