The extraction of effective components and an antioxidant activity study of Tulipa edulis

Plant extracts from natural sources are an excellent choice for food additives and natural antioxidants.In this study,the active components of Tulipa edulis were extracted and analysed,and their antioxidant capacity was measured.Then,the crude extract mixture was separated and purified using a Sephadex LH-20 gel,and the antioxidant activity of the purified products was determined.Human umbilical vein endothelial human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC)cells were treated with 35 mmol/L glucose to construct a model of oxidative stress.Then,the cells were treated with the active component to observe whether the products of T.edulis could have a good protective effect on HUVEC cells induced by glucose.Transcriptome analysis was also performed on HUVEC cells after same treatment to explore the possible mechanism of the component F2 protecting HUVEC cells from oxidative stress induced by high glucose.The results showed that component F2 obtained from T.edulis has strong antioxidant activity.Moreover,F2 can play a strong antioxidant protective role in HUVEC cells.Meanwhile,the gene expression of heme oxygenase 1(HO-1),γ-glutamyl cysteine ligase catalytic subunit(GCLC)and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase-1(NQO1)in HUVEC cells was up-regulated after treated with F2.This study provides reference value for the further development and application of T.edulis and the d evelopment of functional food.

Riemann-Hilbert Approach to the Fifth-order Nonlinear Schr?dinger Equation with Non-vanishing Boundary Conditions

The Cauchy problem of the fifth-order nonlinear Schr?dinger (foNLS) equation is investigated with nonzero boundary conditions in detailed. Firstly, the spectral analysis of the scattering problem is carried out.A Riemann surface and affine parameters are introduced to transform the original spectral parameter to a new spectral parameter in order to avoid the multi-valued problem. Based on Lax pair of the foNLS equation, the Jost functions are obtained, and their analytical, asymptotic, symmetric properties, as well as the corresponding properties of the scattering matrix are established systematically. For the inverse scattering problem, we discuss the cases that the scattering coefficients have simple zeros and double zeros, respectively, and we further derive their corresponding exact solutions via solving a suitable Riemann-Hilbert problem. Moreover, some interesting phenomena are found when we choose some appropriate parameters for these exact solutions, which are helpful to study the propagation behavior of these solutions.

Riemann-Hilbert Problem and Multiple High-order Poles Solutions of the Focusing MKdV Equation with Nonzero Boundary Conditions

The focusing modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation with multiple high-order poles under the nonzero boundary conditions is first investigated via developing a Riemann-Hilbert(RH) approach. We begin with the asymptotic property, symmetry and analyticity of the Jost solutions, and successfully construct the RH problem of the focusing mKdV equation. We solve the RH problem when 1/S11(k) has a single highorder pole and multiple high-order poles. Furthermore, we derive the soliton solutions of the focusing mKdV equation which corresponding with a single high-order pole and multiple high-order poles, respectively. Finally,the dynamics of one-and two-soliton solutions are graphically discussed.

IMAGE SUPER-RESOLUTION RECONSTRUCTION BY HUBER REGULARIZATION AND TAILORED FINITE POINT METHOD

In this paper,we propose using the tailored finite point method(TFPM)to solve the resulting parabolic or elliptic equations when minimizing the Huber regularization based image super-resolution model using the augmented Lagrangian method(ALM).The Hu-ber regularization based image super-resolution model can ameliorate the staircase for restored images.TFPM employs the method of weighted residuals with collocation tech-nique,which helps get more accurate approximate solutions to the equations and reserve more details in restored images.We compare the new schemes with the Marquina-Osher model,the image super-resolution convolutional neural network(SRCNN)and the classical interpolation methods:bilinear interpolation,nearest-neighbor interpolation and bicubic interpolation.Numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate that with the new schemes the quality of the super-resolution images has been improved.Besides these,the existence of the minimizer of the Huber regularization based image super-resolution model and the convergence of the proposed algorithm are also established in this paper.

Extending homogeneous fluidization flow regime of Geldart-A particles by exerting axial uniform and steady magnetic field

The homogeneous/particulate fluidization flow regime is particularly suitable for handling the various gas–solid contact processes encountered in the chemical and energy industry.This work aimed to extend such a regime of Geldart-A particles by exerting the axial uniform and steady magnetic field.Under the action of the magnetic field,the overall homogeneous fluidization regime of Geldart-A magnetizable particles became composed of two parts:inherent homogeneous fluidization and newly-created magnetic stabilization.Since the former remained almost unchanged whereas the latter became broader as the magnetic field intensity increased,the overall homogeneous fluidization regime could be extended remarkably.As for Geldart-A nonmagnetizable particles,certain amount of magnetizable particles had to be premixed to transmit the magnetic stabilization.Among others,the mere addition of magnetizable particles could broaden the homogeneous fluidization regime.The added content of magnetizable particles had an optimal value with smaller/lighter ones working better.The added magnetizable particles might raise the ratio between the interparticle force and the particle gravity.After the magnetic field was exerted,the homogeneous fluidization regime was further expanded due to the formation of magnetic stabilization flow regime.The more the added magnetizable particles,the better the magnetic performance and the broader the overall homogeneous fluidization regime.Smaller/lighter magnetizable particles were preferred to maximize the magnetic performance and extend the overall homogeneous fluidization regime.This phenomenon could be ascribed to that the added magnetizable particles themselves became more Geldart-A than-B type as their density or size decreased.

Sustainable production of high-energy-density jet fuel via cycloaddition reactions

Developing an energy supply-chain based on renewable biomass holds great potential to build a low carbon society. High-energy-density(HED) jet fuel, featuring unique fused/strained cycloalkanes, is of great significance for volume-limited military aircrafts, as their high density and combustion heat can extend flight duration and increase the payload. Therefore, the exploration of biomass-based routes towards HED fuel has drawn much attention over the past decade. Cycloaddition reaction features rapid construction of various carbocycles in an atom-and step-economical fashion. This elegant strategy has been widely applied in the manufacture of sustainable HED fuel. Here we carefully summarize the progress achieved in this fascinating area and the review is categorized by the cycloaddition patterns including [4+2], [2+2],[4+4], and [2+1] cycloadditions. Besides, the energy densities of the as-prepared biofuels and petroleumbased fuels(conventional Jet-A and advanced JP-10) are also compared. This review will provide important insights into rational design of new HED fuel with different ring-types/sizes and inspire the chemists to turn those literature studies into practical applications in military field.

Predicting the International Roughness Index of JPCP and CRCP Rigid Pavement:A Random Forest(RF)Model Hybridized with Modified Beetle Antennae Search(MBAS)for Higher Accuracy

To improve the prediction accuracy of the International Roughness Index(IRI)of Jointed PlainConcrete Pavements(JPCP)and Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements(CRCP),a machine learning approach is developed in this study for the modelling,combining an improved Beetle Antennae Search(MBAS)algorithm and Random Forest(RF)model.The 10-fold cross-validation was applied to verify the reliability and accuracy of the model proposed in this study.The importance scores of all input variables on the IRI of JPCP and CRCP were analysed as well.The results by the comparative analysis showed the prediction accuracy of the IRI of the newly developed MBAS and RF hybrid machine learning model(RF-MBAS)in this study is higher,indicated by the RMSE and R values of 0.2732 and 0.9476 for the JPCP as well as the RMSE and R values of 0.1863 and 0.9182 for the CRCP.The accuracy of this obtained result far exceeds that of the IRI prediction model used in the traditional Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide(MEPDG),indicating the great potential of this developed model.The importance analysis showed that the IRI of JPCP and CRCP was proportional to the corresponding input variables in this study,including the total joint faulting cumulated per KM(TFAULT),percent subgrade material passing the 0.075-mm Sieve(P_(200))and pavement surface area with flexible and rigid patching(all Severities)(PATCH)which scored higher.

Tomographic reconstruction of the Earth’s magnetosheath from multiple spacecraft:a theoretical study

Following our earlier work on tomographic reconstruction of the magnetosheath soft X-ray emissions with superposed epoch analysis of many images recorded from a single spacecraft we now explore the instantaneous reconstruction of the magnetosheath and magnetopause using a few images recorded simultaneously from a few spacecraft.This work is motivated by the prospect of possibly having two or three soft X-ray imagers in space in the coming years,and that many phenomena which occur at the magnetopause boundary,such as reconnection events and pressure pulse responses,do not lend themselves as well to superposed epoch analysis.If the reconstruction is successful-which we demonstrate in this paper that it can be-this collection of imagers can be used to reconstruct the magnetosheath and magnetopause from a single image from each spacecraft,allowing for high time resolution reconstructions.In this paper we explore the reconstruction using,two,three,and four spacecraft.We show that the location of the subsolar point of the magnetopause can be determined with just two satellites,and that volume emissions of soft X-rays,and the shape of the boundary,can be reconstructed using three or more satellites.

Paradigm for Determining the Optimal Ultradeep and Superthick Saline Aquifer for High-TDS Mine Water Geological Storage

Saline aquifers are the most popular waste and CO_(2)injection and storage reservoirs worldwide.This project proposes that several optimal injection positions should be investigated as hydraulic pressure-focused positions,in order to relieve the high demands of pump performance.The comprehensive indices(F_(i))representing the injectivity of different burial depths were obtained by using information entropy,based on the mercury injection experimental data of 13 rock samples.The results demonstrated that the burial depths of No.4,No.1 and No.2 in the Liujiagou Formation were the most suitable positions for hydraulic focused injection,which means the upper 30 m thickness could be regarded as the hydraulic focused range in the saline aquifer with an average thickness of 400 m.In addition,some laboratory experiments and in situ tests were carried out for the purpose of certifying and analyzing results,including SEM,XRD,brittleness index and logging.The results suggested that the rock samples at the No.4,No.1 and No.2 burial depth ranges have loose microstructure,weak cementation,as well as dual pores and fractures.The lithology is mainly quartz and feldspar,but the clay mineral content is high(10%-25%),which is positive for dissolution.The lithology is suitable for hydraulic fracturing to form extended cracks and micro-fissures during high-TDS(total dissolved solids)mine water injection,because of the high brittleness index.Finally,a theoretical and technical framework for high-TDS mine water injection was established,based on operating pilot engineering.Some theoretical defects and drawbacks learned from the field practices were summarized and solutions proposed.The research in this study could provide guidance and a paradigm for the inexpensive treatment of high-TDS mine water by injection and storage.

Cu-Based Materials for Enhanced C_(2+) Product Selectivity in Photo-/Electro-Catalytic CO_(2) Reduction: Challenges and Prospects

Carbon dioxide conversion into valuable products using photocatalysis and electrocatalysis is an effective approach to mitigate global environmental issues and the energy shortages. Among the materials utilized for catalytic reduction of CO_(2), Cu-based materials are highly advantageous owing to their widespread availability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, Cu-based materials demonstrate interesting abilities in the adsorption and activation of carbon dioxide, allowing the formation of C_(2+) compounds through C–C coupling process. Herein, the basic principles of photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reactions(PCO_(2)RR) and electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2)RR) and the pathways for the generation C_(2+) products are introduced. This review categorizes Cu-based materials into different groups including Cu metal, Cu oxides, Cu alloys, and Cu SACs, Cu heterojunctions based on their catalytic applications. The relationship between the Cu surfaces and their efficiency in both PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR is emphasized. Through a review of recent studies on PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR using Cu-based catalysts, the focus is on understanding the underlying reasons for the enhanced selectivity toward C_(2+) products. Finally, the opportunities and challenges associated with Cu-based materials in the CO_(2) catalytic reduction applications are presented, along with research directions that can guide for the design of highly active and selective Cu-based materials for CO_(2) reduction processes in the future.
