According to customs statistics, from January to December 2019, china’s textile machinery import and export totaled USD 7.116 billion, a decrease of 3.81% year-on-year. Of which: textile machinery imports were USD 3.333 billion, a decrease of 10.49% year-on-year; exports were USD 3.783 billion, an increase of 2.96% year-on-year. The growth rate of exports is significantly greater than the growth rate of imports, and the trade surplus has been maintained since this year.

The textile and garment value chain is typical buyer-driven and captive governance. Based on the results of 153 questionnaires survey of textile and garment companies around china in 2008 as well as case studies, the roles of china textile and garment enterprises in value chain were showed in this paper. The survey covers several different sectors, in which companies have different decision power, strategies and performance, to f＇md how to take advantage of companies strengths, and gain long-term benefit enhancing its competence in global production network.

Recently, china textile Machinery Association has just released the economic performance of china＇s textile machinery industry in the first three quarters of 2013, pointing out that the industry is still suffering the weak external and internal demand as well as the limited investment. In addition, the manufacturing industry presents a demand differentiation, leading to differences between the performances of subsectors. The overall operation of the textile machinery industry is relatively stable in the first three quarters.

In this paper,the current status of export dependence of china's textile industry and affecting factors are evaluated.A cointegration test for world economy and china's export of textile and apparel is conducted which suggests that a long-term cointegration relationship exists between the growth rate of the world economy and that of china's export of textiles and *** world economy will enter a period of low-speed growth,and the growth rate of china's textile and apparel exports will slow down *** the other hand,china's domestic expenditures on textiles and apparel are expected to maintain robust *** to the trends of exports and domestic demand,the export dependence of china's textile industry will go down with *** conclusion is useful to evaluating the performance of the textile industry and making relevant policies.

This paper attempts to explore key determinants of competitiveness in the textile and apparel industries, with special reference to Chinese Mainland. The authors conduct a survey that is designed to use productivity, supply-side and demand-side determinants to measure enterprises＇ competitiveness. The collected survey data is then analyzed using factor analysis to capture the related determining factors indicative of competitiveness at the enterprise level. The findings demonstrate that government policies and related industry infrastructure are the most important determinants of competitiveness in the textile and apparel industries, followed by domestic demand. This suggests that the improvement of industry infrastructure can foster industry performance, and that more resources should be endowed to enhance the domestic business competitiveness of local enterprises. The development of domestic demand will foster the competitiveness of the textile and apparel industries on a more sustainable basis.
