Tourmaline guiding the electric field and dechlorination pathway of 2,3-dichlorophenol by Desulfitobacterium hafniense

The dehalogenation of organohalides has been a research hotspot in bioremediation field;however,the influence of tourmaline,a natural ore that can generate spontaneous electric field,on organohalide-respiring bacteria(OHRB)and their dechlorination process is not well *** this study,the effect and mechanism of tourmaline on the reductive dechlorination of 2,3-dichlorophenol(2,3-DCP)by Desulfitobacterium hafniense DCB-2Twere *** characterization results confirmed that tourmaline had good stability and the optimal dosage of tourmaline was 2.5 g/L,which shortened the total time required for dechlorination reaction to 72 ***,tourmaline amendment also increased the proportion of 2-chlorophenol(2-CP)from 18%to 30%of end products,while that of 3-CP decreased *** theoretical calculations showed that the bond charge of the orthosubstituted chlorine declined from-0.179 to-0.067,and that of meta-substituted chlorine increased from-0.111 to-0.129,which indicated that the spontaneous electric field of tourmaline affected the charge distribution of 2,3-DCP and was more conducive to the generation of ***,tourmaline with the spontaneous electric field affected the reductive dechlorination pathway of Desulfitobacterium,and the tourmaline-OHRB combining system might serve as a novel strategy for the bioremediation of environments polluted with chlorinated phenols.

Floating plants reduced methane fluxes from wetlands by creating a habitat conducive to methane oxidation

Wetlands are one of the important natural sources of atmospheric methane (CH_4),as an important part of wetlands,floating plants can be expected to affect methane ***,the effects of floating plants on methane release are *** this study,methane fluxes,physiochemical properties of the overlying water,methane oxidation potential and rhizospheric bacterial community were investigated in simulated wetlands with floating plants Eichhornia crassipes,Hydrocharis dubia,and Trapa *** found that ***,***,and *** plants could inhibit 84.31%-97.31%,4.98%-88.91%and 43.62%-92.51%of methane fluxes at interface of water-atmosphere compared to Control,*** fluxes were negatively related to nutrients concentration in water column but positively related to the aerenchyma proportions of roots,stems,and *** the same biomass,root of *** (36.44%) had the highest methane oxidation potential,followed by *** (12.99%) and *** (11.23%).Forty-five bacterial phyla in total were identified on roots of three plants and 7 bacterial genera (2.10%-3.33%) were known *** I methanotrophs accounted for 95.07%of total *** pmoA gene abundances ranged from 1.90×10^(16)to 2.30×10^(18)copies/g fresh weight of root *** of pmoA gene was significantly positively correlated with environmental *** (5.40%) and methanotrophy (3.75%) function were closely related to methane *** study highlights that floating plant restoration can purify water and promote carbon neutrality partially by reducing methane fluxes through methane oxidation in wetlands.

Virus replication relies on complex interactions between viral *** the case of African swine fever virus(ASFV),only a few such interactions have been identified so *** this study,we demonstrate that ASFV protein p72 interacts with p11.5 using co-immunoprecipitation and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS).It was found that protein p72 interacts specifically with p11.5 at sites amino acids(aa)1–216 of p72 and aa 1–68 of *** assess the importance of p11.5 in ASFV infection,we developed a recombinant virus(ASFVGZΔA137R)by deleting the A137R gene from the ASFVGZ *** with ASFVGZ,the infectious progeny virus titers of ASFVGZΔA137R were reduced by approximately 1.0 *** addition,we demonstrated that the growth defect was partially attributable to a higher genome copies-to-infectious virus titer ratios produced in ASFVGZΔA137R-infected MA104 cells than in those infected with *** finding suggests that MA104 cells infected with ASFVGZΔA137R may generate larger quantities of noninfectious ***,we found that p11.5 did not affect virus-cell binding or ***,we show for the first time the interaction between ASFV p72 and *** results effectively provide the relevant information of the p11.5 *** results extend our understanding of complex interactions between viral proteins,paving the way for further studies of the potential mechanisms and pathogenesis of ASFV infection.

Exploring Paths of Preschool Teachers’Effective Implementation of SEL Curriculum

Teachers play a vital role in the implementation of social-emotional learning(SEL)*** study focuses on the Second Step program of the Committee for Children(CFC)and its roll-out at two kindergartens in *** aims to assess how Chinese preschool teachers effectively put into action the SEL curriculum,considering knowledge,emotions,perception,and behavior *** NVivo12 software,interviews with 10 teachers are analyzed,revealing that advancements in teachers’social and emotional competencies correlate with their ability to transform SEL knowledge into ***’perceptions of SEL significance reflect their level of SEL knowledge and influence their daily ***,education integrating knowledge with emotions is achieved by combining knowledge,emotions,and *** findings highlight the following approaches to be adopted for better SEL curriculum outcomes,suggesting enhancing teachers’cultural sensitivity and exploring SEL within the Chinese cultural context,establishing a community of SEL practices to facilitate dialogue between teachers’personal knowledge and authoritative knowledge,and providing targeted support for teachers’work integrating knowledge with emotions.

Transcriptome-based analysis of key signaling pathways affecting the formation of primordial germ cell in chickens

Bone morphogenetic protein 4(BMP4)can induce the formation of chicken primordial germ cells(PGCs)in vitro;however,its regulatory mechanism in poultry remains *** study aimed to use RNA-seq to analyze PGCs in chicken embryos and iPGCs induced by BMP4 in vitro,clarify the internal regulatory factors of PGCs,analyze the mechanism of the formation of PGCs,and lay a theoretical foundation for the further optimization of PGCs induction *** stem cells(ESCs),PGCs and iPGCs induced by BMP4 in vitro were *** transcriptional maps of the three cell types were studied using *** results showed 6,142 genes differentially expressed between PGCs and iPGCs,of which 2,728 were upregulated in iPGCs and 3,414 were downregulated in *** to that in ESCs,BMP4 was significantly upregulated in PGCs and *** results showed that both the TGF-βand Wnt signaling pathways were activated during the formation of PGCs in vitro and in vivo,and the activation was more significant during iPGCs induced by *** expression of Nodal,an inhibitory factor of TGF-βsignaling,was significantly decreased in PGCs and iPGCs,but was not expressed in iPGCs,which further supports our ***,the Lysosome and PI3K-AKT signaling pathways were significantly enriched in PGCs and iPGCs,***,transmission electron microscopy(TEM)results showed that the number of autolysosomes was significantly higher after the addition of BMP4,which is consistent with the KEGG ***,the number of PGCs was significantly reduced after ATG14 was interfered in vivo and in *** conclusion,this study screened out the key signaling pathways during the formation of PGCs,aiming to provide help for enriching the mechanism network regulating PGCs formation in chicken and laying a theoretical foundation for further improving the efficiency of inducing PGCs in vitro.

Distinct Interannual Variability and Physical Mechanisms of Snowfall Frequency over the Eurasian Continent during Autumn and Winter

This study investigates the dominant modes of interannual variability of snowfall frequency over the Eurasian continent during autumn and winter,and explores the underlying physical *** first EOF mode(EOF1)of snowfall frequency during autumn is mainly characterized by positive anomalies over the Central Siberian Plateau(CSP)and Europe,with opposite anomalies over Central Asia(CA).EOF1 during winter is characterized by positive anomalies in Siberia and negative anomalies in Europe and East Asia(EA).During autumn,EOF1 is associated with the anomalous sea ice in the Kara–Laptev seas(KLS)and sea surface temperature(SST)over the North *** sea ice in the KLS may cause an increase in the meridional air temperature gradient,resulting in increased synoptic-scale wave activity,thereby inducing increased snowfall frequency over Europe and the *** increases of both sea ice in the KLS and SST in the North Atlantic may stimulate downstream propagation of Rossby waves and induce an anomalous high in CA corresponding to decreased snowfall *** contrast,EOF1 is mainly affected by the anomalous atmospheric circulation during *** the positive phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO),an anomalous deep cold low(warm high)occurs over Siberia(Europe)leading to increased(decreased)snowfall frequency over Siberia(Europe).The synoptic-scale wave activity excited by the positive NAO can induce downstream Rossby wave propagation and contribute to an anomalous high and descending motion over EA,which may inhibit *** NAO in winter may be modulated by the Indian Ocean dipole and sea ice in the Barents-Kara-Laptev Seas in autumn.

Biomimetic MXene membranes with negatively thermo-responsive switchable 2D nanochannels for graded molecular sieving

Negatively thermo-responsive 2D membranes,which mimic the stomatal opening/closing of plants,have drawn substantial interest for tunable molecular separation ***,these membranes are still restricted significantly on account of low water permeability and poor dynamic tunability of 2D nanochannels under temperature ***,we present a biomimetic negatively thermo-responsive MXene membrane by covalently grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAm)onto MXene *** uniformly grafted PNIPAm polymer chains can enlarge the interlayer spacings for increasing water permeability while also allowing more tunability of 2D nanochannels for enhancing the capability of gradually separating multiple molecules of different *** expected,the constructed membrane exhibits ultrahigh water permeance of 95.6 L m^(-2) h^(-1) bar^(-1) at 25℃,which is eight-fold higher than the state-of-the-art negatively thermoresponsive 2D ***,the highly temperature-tunable 2D nanochannels enable the constructed membrane to perform excellent graded molecular sieving for dye-and antibiotic-based ternary *** strategy provides new perspectives in engineering smart 2D membrane and expands the scope of temperature-responsive membranes,showing promising applications in micro/nanofluidics and molecular separation.

Recently,Mach–Zehnder modulators based on thin-film lithium niobate have attracted broad interest for their potential for high modulation bandwidth,low insertion loss,high extinction ratio,and high modulation *** periodic capacitively loaded traveling-wave electrode is optimally adopted for ultimate high-performances in this type of ***,such an electrode structure on a silicon substrate still suffers from the velocity mismatch and substrate leakage loss for microwave ***,we introduce a thin-film lithium niobate modulator structure using this periodic capacitively loaded electrode on a silicon *** holes in the silicon substrate are prepared to solve robustly the above *** fabricated device exhibits an insertion loss of 0.9 dB,a halfwave-voltage–length product of 2.18 V·cm,and an ultra-wide bandwidth well exceeding 67 GHz for a 10-mm-long *** transmissions with rates up to 112 Gb/s are *** proposed structure and fabrication strategy are compatible for other types of monolithic and heterogeneous integrated thin-film lithium niobate modulators on a silicon substrate.
