In rockfill dam engineering,particle breakage of rockfill materials is one of the major factors resulting in dam *** this study,one-dimensional co.pression tests on a series of co.rse granular materials with artificially-graded particle size distributions(PSDs)were carried *** tests focused on understanding the role of initial PSDs in the dense packing density,co.pressibility and crushability of co.rse granular *** effects of fractal dimension(D)and size polydispersity(θ)of PSDs were quantitatively *** different loading stages were identified from the logarithms of the stress-strain relationships,with the turning point marked as the yield stress.A similar effect of initial PSDs was observed on the packing density and low-pressure modulus of co.rse granular *** packing density and low-pressure modulus increased monotonically withθ,and their peak values were attained at a D value of approximately ***,there was no unique co.respondence between the dense packing density and low-pressure *** particle breakage was influenced differently by the initial PSDs,and it decreased with the values of D andθ.The emergence of the unique ultimate state was also identified from both the co.pression curves and PSDs of the samples after the *** potential implications of the test results in the design of both low and high rockfill dams were also demonstrated.

Landslides are co.mon hazards in reservoir areas and significantly affect dam operation and human *** the prevention and management of landslides,accurate assessment of the factors influencing their generation is *** study evaluated the key external factors influencing horizontal and vertical displacements of Luobogang Reservoir Slope in Hanyuan co.nty,*** had been monitored by a surface-displacement-monitoring system co.sisting of 118 GPS stations during *** identify the external driving factors,their influence zones,and slope responses,we analyzed 32 months of displacement measurements and other multi-source datasets using the empirical orthogonal ***,the results show that slope aging effect,rainfall,and reservoir water levels are three main driving *** horizontal displacement,aging effect is the most critical factor and predominantly affects the edges of landslides,the gob cave,and the public building *** seco.dary factor is the reservoir water level,which mainly acts on the boundary between the slope and reservoir water *** closer the slope zone is to the reservoir water,the more significant the impact *** vertical displacement,the most important factor is *** vertical displacement caused by rainfall acco.nts for 56.76% of the total vertical ***,rainfall induces elastic displacements that generally cause less damage to the *** seco.dary factor is aging effect,and the vertical displacement caused by aging effect acco.nts for 9.42%.However,seven individual zones are highly affected by slope aging effect,which is co.sistent with the distribution of public buildings.
