Pure silicide coating and Y-Ce modified silicide coating were prepared on Ti-6Al-4V alloy by pack-cementation process. The structures as well as the isothermal oxidation behaviors of the coatings were comparatively studied. The results showed that both pure silicide coating and Y-Ce modified silicide coating prepared at 1080℃ for 4 h were composed of a TiSi2 outer layer, a TiSi middle layer and a Ti5Si4 inner layer. The oxidation tests showed that the Y-Ce modified silicide coating possessed much better oxidation resistance than the pure silicide coating at 1000℃, implying the beneficial effects of Y and Ce on the oxidation resistance of the coating.

This work experimentally examined the optimal proportioning of sludge curing agent for dewatered sludge curing on solidified sludge,two components sludge curing agent consisted of cement and slag,and three components consisted of cement,slag and inorganic salt. The results showed that,increasing of curing ages could increase unconfined compressive strength and reduce moisture content for solidified sludge. For the test of two components,the biggest unconfined compressive strength of the solidified sludge achieved to 543. 72 kPa and the minimum moisture content achieved to 3. 56% of 21 d. The optimum proportion of the sludge curing agent of two components is sludge: cement: slag = 1 ∶ 0. 05 ∶ 0. 2 which selected by design-expert. It could rapidly increasing the unconfined compressive strength of solidified sludge when added three components sludge curing agent( sludge: cement: slag: MgSO4= 1 ∶ 0. 05 ∶ 0. 2 ∶ 0. 03) on sludge curing. The results showed that,curing ages of 7 d,the unconfined compressive strength could achieve to 126. 74 kPa,which was more than 11 times comparison with the solidified sludge curing by two components curing agent. Two or three components sludge curing agent all could stabilize the heavy metals on solidified sludge and the leaching of heavy metals was below the government standard,while the stability of the heavy metals was superior for three components sludge curing agent.

A complex seepage flow field with unknown free surface was formed in the Shanghai Laogang municipal Solid Waste （MSW） Landfill by the perimeter cut-off wall around the landfill site and the Prefabricated Vertical Drains （PVD） in the foundation of landfill. First, the equivalent vertical permeability was presented based on the drainage mechanism of PVD and the related calculation method was studied to macroscopically reflect the impact of PVD on the seepage flow status of the landfill foundation. With the influence of the cut-off wall and the PVD on the infiltration of groundwater, the total inflow was classified into two parts： the lateral inflow through the cut-off wall outside the landfill, and the upward infiltration through the PVD from the foundation of the landfill. Seepage analysis was conducted using the finite element method according to the actual scenario of Laogang Landfill, and the lateral infiltration and the upward infiltration were calculated, respectively. The results show that the total inflow into the landfill area was mostly supplied by the upward infiltration through the PVD and the perimeter cut-off wall was significantly effective to depressurize the seepage pressure and to reduce the flow rate.

An innovative treatment method by the combination of NaOH and nitrite is proposed for controlling hydrogen sulfide and methane in gravity sewers and overcome the drawbacks of the conventional single chemical *** reactors simulating gravity sewers were set up to assess the effectiveness of the proposed *** demonstrated hydrogen sulfide and methane reductions of about 96.01%and 91.49%,respectively,by the combined addition of NaOH and *** consumption of NaNO_(2) decreased by 42.90%,and the consumption rate of NaOH also showed a downward *** with a single application of NaNO_(2),the C/N ratio of wastewater was increased to about 0.61 mg COD/mg *** greenhouse effect of intermediate N2O and residual methane was about 48.80 gCO_(2)/m^(3),which is far lower than that of methane without control(260 gCO_(2)/m^(3)).Biofilm was destroyed to prevent it from entering the sewage by the chemical additives,which reduced the biomass and inhibited the recovery of biofilm activity to prolong the control *** sulfide production rate and sulfate reduction rate were reduced by 92.32%and 85.28%,*** with conventional control methods,the cost of this new method was only 3.92×10^(−3)$/m^(3),which is potentially a cost-effective strategy for sulfide and methane control in gravity sewers.

Waste oyster shell as a kind of active filler to treat the combined wastewater at an estuary

Estuaries have been described as one of the most difficult environments on Earth. It is difficult to know how to treat the combined wastewater in tidal rivers at the estuary, where the situation is very different from ordinary fresh water rivers. Waste oyster shell was used as the active filler in this study in a bio-contact oxidation tank to treat the combined wastewater at the Fengtang Tidal River. With a middle-experimental scale of 360 ma/day, the average removal efficiency of COD, BOD, NH3-N, TP and TSS was 80.05%, 85.02%, 86.59%, 50.58% and 85.32%, respectively, in this bio-contact oxidation process. The living microbes in the biofilms on the waste oyster shell in this bio-contact oxidation tank, which were mainly composed of zoogloea, protozoa and micro-metazoa species, revealed that waste oyster shell as the filler was suitable material for combined wastewater degradation. This treatment method using waste oyster shell as active filler was then applied in a mangrove demonstration area for water quality improvement near the experiment area, with a treatment volume of 5 × 10^3 m^3/day. Another project was also successfully applied in a constructed wetland, with a wastewater treatment volume of 1 ×10^3 m^3/day. This technology is therefore feasible and can easily be applied on a larger scale,

Heat transfer characteristics of molten plastics in a vertical falling film reactor

The heat transfer efficiency during the pyrolysis process is a key factor to be considered in the design of pyrolysis reactors. In this study, the average apparent heat transfer characteristics of molten plastic pyrolysis in a vertical falling film reactor were explored by experiments and numerical simulation and the apparent heat transfer coefficients were determined. In addition, the temperature distribution and the thickness of the liquid film in the reactor were predicted and the influences of pyrolysis temperatures on the average apparent heat transfer coefficients were discussed.

Energy conservation in heating systems has great influence on overall sustainable development strategy. Heating technology, especially combined heat and power(CHP, cogeneration), has been attracting increased interest and rapidly developing in recent years. However, the theoretical potential of heating from the perspective of thermodynamics has not been clearly illustrated. This paper presents a theoretical analysis of heating systems based on the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics using the specific fuel consumption(SFC) analysis method, clarifies the theoretical potential limitation of heating systems and illustrates the process of reversible heating on the basis of the total energy system. A novel concept(green heating, GH) and a new indicator(green-heating index, GH Index) are scientifically defined to characterise different options for heating and to quantitatively evaluate their fuel consumption levels. Thereafter, the fuel consumptions of four typical space heating modes are compared and discussed to present the application of GH theory and validate the power of the proposed concept and index. Furthermore, two different CHP technologies are analyzed with an instantiation case, and a novel CHP system is recommended, which may scientifically support the development of heating technology and further improve the processes of energy-saving and CO2 reduction.

A wind pressure sensor based on fiber Bragg grating （FBG） for engineering structure was investigated in this paper. We established a transaction model of wind pressure to strain and proposed a method of temperature compensation. By finite element analysis, the basic parameters of the sensor were optimized with the aim of maximum strain under the basic wind pressure proposed in relative design code in china taking geometrical non-linearity into consideration. The result shows that the wind pressure sensor we proposed is well performed and have good sensing properties, which means it is a technically feasible solution.

Impact of Untreated Sedimentation Tank Sludge Water Recycle on Water Quality During Treatment of Low Turbidity Water

The overall purpose of this research is to examine the impact of untreated sedimentation tank sludge water( USTSW) recycle on water quality during treatment of low turbidity water in coagulation—sedimentation processes. 950 m L of raw water and different concentrations of 50 m L USTSW are injected into six 1 000 m L beakers without *** results indicate that USTSW characterized as accumulated suspended solids and organic matter has active ingredients,which possess the equivalent function of coagulant. The optimal blended water turbidity is in the range of 10-20 NTU,within which USTSW recycle achieves the highest save coagulant rate. The mechanism of strengthening coagulation effect when USTSW recycle mainly depends on the chemical effect and physical effect. What is more,through scanning electron microscopy( SEM),it is found that the floc structures with USTSW recycle are more compact than those without USTSW recycle. Besides,the water quality parameters of color,NH3-N,CODMn,UV254,total aluminum,total manganese when USTSW recycle is better than the raw water without recycle,indicating that USTSW recycle can improve water quality with strengthening coagulation effect.
