A simplified method for investigating the bending behavior of piles supporting embankments on soft ground

In recent years,co.crete and reinforced co.crete piles have been widely used to stabilize soft ground under *** research has shown that bending failure,particularly during rapid filling on soft ground,is the critical failure mode for pile-supported ***,we propose an efficient two-stage method that co.bines a test-verified soil deformation mechanism and Poulos’solution for pile–soil interaction to investigate the bending behavior of piles supporting embankments on soft *** results reveal that there are three possible bending failure scenarios for such piles:at the interface between the soft and firm ground layers,at mid-depths of the fan zone,and at the boundary of the soil deformation *** location of the bending failure depends on the position and relative stiffness of the given ***,the effect of embedding a pile into a firm ground layer on the bending behavior was *** the embedded length of a pile exceeded a critical value,the bending moment at the interface between the soft and firm ground layers reached a limiting *** addition,floating piles that are not embedded exhibit an overturning pattern of movement in the soft ground layer,and a potential failure is located in the upper part of these piles.

The bacterial antibiotic resistome(BAR)is one of the most serious co.temporary medical *** BAR problem in drinking water is receiving growing *** this study,we focused on the distribution,changes,and health risks of the BAR throughout the drinking water treatment *** extracted the antibiotic resistance gene(ARG)data from recent publications and analyzed ARG profiles based on diversity,absolute abundance,and relative *** absolute abundance of ARG was found to decrease with water treatment processes and was positively co.related with the abundance of 16S rRNA(r=0.963,/?co.centration was acco.panied by decreasing *** treatment processes,biofiltration and chlorination were disco.ered to play important roles in shaping the bacterial antibiotic *** exhibited positive effects in co.trolling the diversity of ARG,while biofiltration,especially granular activated carbon filtration,increased the diversity of *** biofiltration and chlorination altered the structure of the resistome by affecting relative ARG *** addition,we analyzed the mechanism behind the impact of biofiltration and chlorination on the bacterial antibiotic *** intercepting influent ARG-carrying bacteria,biofilters can enrich various ARGs and maintain ARGs in *** further selects bacteria co.resistant to chlorine and ***,we proposed the BAR health risks caused by biofiltration and chlorination in water *** reduce potential BAR risk in drinking water,membrane filtration technology and water boiling are reco.mended at the point of use.

Nine PHC piles with partial normal-strength deformed bars were prepared in present study,and cyclic loading tests were implemented to evaluate these piles’seismic *** influence of the axial co.pression ratio and the amount of normal-strength deformed bars on failure modes,crack patterns,strength,stiffness,and ductility were *** test findings indicate that the change of axial co.pression ratio has a noticeable influence on the failure mode of PHC piles.A larger axial co.pression ratio results in a higher cracking bending resistance,ultimate bending resistance,and initial stiffness,but the propagation heights of flexural cracks decrease as the axial co.pression ratio ***,increasing the amount of normal-strength deformed bars causes a slight decrease in ***,a calculation formula was proposed to predict the flexural capacity of PHC piles with partial normal-strength deformed bars.

This study aims to co.prehensively analyze the Greenhouse Gases(GHGs)emissions from current sewage sludge treatment and disposal technologies(buildingmaterial,landfill,land spreading,anaerobic digestion,and thermochemical processes)based on the database of Science Citation Index(SCI)and Social Science Citation Index(SSCI)from 1998 to *** general patterns,spatial distribution,and hotspotswere provided by bibliometric analysis.A co.parative quantitative analysis based on life cycle assessment(LCA)put forward the current emission situation and the key influencing factors of different *** effective GHG emissions reduction methods were proposed to mitigate climate *** showed that incineration or building materials manufacturing of highly dewatered sludge,and land spreading after anaerobic digestion have the best GHG emissions reduction *** treatment technologies and thermochemical processes have great potential for reducing *** of pretreatment effect,co.digestion,and newtechnologies(e.g.,injection of carbon dioxide,directional acidification)are major approaches to facilitate substitution emissions in sludge anaerobic *** relationship between the quality and efficiency of seco.dary energy in thermochemical process and GHGs emission still needs further *** sludge products generated by bio-stabilization or thermochemical processes are co.sidered to have a certain carbon sequestration value and can improve the soil environment to co.trol GHG *** findings are useful for future development and processes selection of sludge treatment and disposal facing carbon footprint reduction.

Pavement co.struction in permafrost regions is co.plicated by the fact that the permafrost properties are influenced by the temperature and are extremely *** numerical model for runway structures in permafrost regions is applied to analyze the time–space characteristics of the temperature field and the depth of the frozen *** influence of the installation layer is studied to enable structural optimization of the *** results show that the temperature stabilization depth,low-and high-temperature interlayer response ranges,and maximum depth of the frozen layer are greater in runway engineering than in highway and railway *** time history curves for the pavement and natural surface are similar,and the development of freezing and thawing is approximately *** pavement and natural surface have similar thawing rates,but the freezing rate of the natural surface is faster than that of the *** depth of the frozen layer and the time of the frozen are greater for the natural surface than for the *** installation layer helps to stabilize the temperature of the subgrade and reduces the freezing and thawing *** study provides technical support for the design and maintenance of runways in permafrost regions.

For aromatic monomer co.pounds (AMCs), ozonation outco.es were usually predicted by the substituents of the benzene ring based on the electron inductive effect. However, the predicted results were occasionally unreliable for co.plex substituents, and other factors caused co.cern. In this study, p-chloronitrobenzene (p-CNB) and ibuprofen (IBP) were selected for ozonation. Acco.ding to the electron inductive theory, p-CNB should be less oxidizable, but the opposite was true. The higher rates of p-CNB were due to various sources of assistance. First, the hydroxyl radical (•OH) co.tributed 90 % to p-CNB removal at pH 7.0, while its co.tribution to IBP removal was 50 %. Other co.tributions came from molecular O3 oxidation. Seco.d, p-CNB achieved 40 % of the total organic carbon (TOC) removal and fewer by-product types and quantities, when co.pared to the results for IBP. Third, the oxidation of p-CNB started with hydroxyl substitution reactions on the benzene ring;then, the ring opened. However, IBP was initially oxidized mainly on the butane branched chain, with a chain-shortening process occurring before the ring opened. Finally, the degradation pathway of p-CNB was single and co.sumed fewer oxidants. However, both branches of IBP were attacked simultaneously, and three degradation pathways that relied on more oxidants were proposed. All of these factors were determinants of the rapid removal of p-CNB.

In this work,a monorail vehicle-bridge co.pling(VBC)model capable of accurately co.sidering curve alignment and superelevation is established based on curvilinear moving co.rdinate system,to study the VBC vibration of straddlemonorail curved girder bridge and the relevant factors influencing *** taking Chongqing Jiao Xin line as an example,the VBC program is co.piled using Fortran,where the reliability of algorithm and program is verified by the results of Chongqing monorail ***,the effects of curve radius,vehicle speed,and track irregularity on the co.responding vehicle and bridge vibrations are co.pared and *** is observed that the test results of lateral vibration acceleration(LVA)and vertical vibration acceleration(VVA)of track beam,and LVA of vehicle,are co.sistent with the simulation *** to the track irregularity,vibration of track beam and vehicle increases ***,an increase in vehicle speed gradually increases the vibration of track beam and *** the curve radius(R)≤200 m,lateral and vertical vibrations of the track beam and vehicle decrease significantly with an increasing curve ***,when 200 mdesign,co.struction,and safety assessment of existing bridges.

Deformation monitoring is vital for tunnel *** monitoring techniques measure only a few data points,which is insufficient to understand the deformation of the entire *** Laser Scanning(TLS)is a newly developed technique that can co.lect thousands of data points in a few minutes,with promising applications to tunnel deformation *** raw point cloud co.lected from TLS cannot display tunnel deformation;therefore,a new 3D modeling algorithm was developed for this *** 3D modeling algorithm includes modules for preprocessing the point cloud,extracting the tunnel axis,performing co.rdinate transformations,performing noise reduction and generating the 3D *** results from TLS were co.pared to the results of total station and numerical simulation,co.firming the reliability of TLS for tunnel deformation ***,a case study of the Shanghai West Changjiang Road tunnel is introduced,where TLS was applied to measure shield tunnel deformation over multiple ***,segment dislocation and cross section co.vergence were measured and visualized using the proposed 3D modeling algorithm.
