When analyzing the Chinese economy, one should not merely focus on surface phenomena, or be confined by a purely economic,partial, or static standpoint. Contrarily, we should uphold the stances and methodologies of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to get a clear picture of the current state,future direction, overarching strategies, and specific approaches of the Chinese economy in the context of the long-term evolution of the global economic system and china's endeavors of building a great modern socialist country. Since the launch of reform and opening up in 1978,china has effectively modernized itself through economic *** ticularly, in the f irst decade of the new era, china laid down rock-solid foundations and expanded vast spaces for future economic development through systematic modernization. With the advent of the post-COVID-19 era, the Chinese economy has entered a phase of great transition, and the country has set a goal of achieving high-quality development through a new development patter n in three critical decades. This will be unprecedented in china's economic history, and its significance and implications for the global economic system will also be unseen. china's strengths in terms of system, supply, demand, and talent provide important guarantees for a successful economic *** the transition period, china will look economic competition squarely, continuing to deepen its opening up and reform. The Chinese economy is expected to stabilize and accumulate momentum in the short term, gradually lift off in the medium term, and have a bright future in the long term. To bring that bright future into reality, china needs to strike a good balance between two “great miracles,” two “new patterns,”two “major blocs,” and two “world orders.” Further capacity building is needed to strengthen the Communist Party of china, enhance scientific and technological innovation, build china into a financial p

Impact of US Financial Sanctions on the Dollar's International

In 2022,the United States stepped up its sanctions on *** notably,it restricted the flow of the Russian Central Bank's foreign exchange(forex)assets,using financial administrative power as a source of strategic *** move should have reduced the appeal of US dollar assets but in reality has not accelerated as expected the decline of the greenback as a store of *** US dollar's share of global forex reserves increased instead of decreased during 2022 and *** the rise of economic costs caused by tightened US financial sanctions,countries that recognize the geopolitical role of the United States have further accepted the dollar's international status;their continued willingness to live with the dollar's“security premium”has given a fillip to the US dollar in the short term,boosting its appeal as a reserve ***,de-dollarization of forex reserves has yet to reach a sufficient scale,thus falling short of significantly challenging the dollar's *** a longer-term perspective,as economic and security conditions shift,countries that accept the dollar's international role or seek de-dollarization may change their *** a result,four possible scenarios may arise:(i)the preeminence of the US dollar remains unthreatened;(ii)the international monetary system splits into blocs;(iii)the international monetary system fragments;and(iv)the dollar loses its *** author believes that the last scenario is the most likely outcome.

At the same time, however, we are also witnessing some positive trends. The year 2023 witnessed frequent conflicts in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, fueling the existing security crises and paving the way for the expansion of international terrorism. The United States(US) is now pursuing a “counterterrorism light” strategy, reducing investments in the fight against terrorism, and focusing on so-called great power competition. In such a context, security turbulence has severely affected counterterrorism in many world regions, pushing international counterterrorism efforts into a tight corner.

Traditional maritime disputes remained unresolved in 2023. Meanwhile, global competition over maritime governance became increasingly fierce, politicized, and complicated. The exploitation of deep-sea resources is booming; however, the competition over dominance of deep-sea mining is intensifying, especially over seabed resources and seabed governance. Despite the increased call for global governance on fisheries, some countries use fishery-related issues as a new tool of geopolitical competition. Cooperation in maritime law enforcement is gaining momentum globally. Maritime domain awareness(MDA) projects, which enhance maritime capabilities through integrating businesses with national security, are being frequently exported, blurring the boundaries of maritime security.
