Multi-scenario Simulation of the Impact of Land Use Change on the Ecosystem Service Value in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Area,china

As the most economically developed metropolitan area in china’s Yangtze River Delta,the rapid changing land use patterns of Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou(Su-Xi-Chang) metropolitan area have profound impacts on the ecosystem service value(ESV).Based on the patterns of land use change and the ESV change in Su-Xi-Chang metropolitan area from 2000 to 2020,we set up four scenarios:natural development scenario,urban development scenario,arable land protection scenario and ecological protection scenario,and simulated the impact of land use changes on the ESV in these *** results showed that:1) the area of built-up land in the Su-XiChang metropolitan area increased significantly from 2000 to 2020,and the area of other types of land *** land underwent the highest transfer-out area,and was primarily converted into built-up *** total ESV of Su-Xi-Chang metropolitan area increased initially then declined from 2000–2020,and the value of almost all individual ecosystem services decreased.2) Population density,GDP per area,night lighting intensity,and road network density can negatively impact the ESV.3) The total ESV loss under the natural development and urban development scenarios was high,and the expansion of the built-up land and the drastic shrinkage of the arable land contributed to the ESV decline under both *** total ESV under arable land protection and ecological protection scenarios increases,and therefore these scenarios are suitable for future land use optimization in *** study could provide a certain reference for land use planning and allocation,and offer guidance for the rational allocation of land resources.

Urbanization is a comprehensive and complex socioeconomic phenomenon that plays an influential role in promoting global socioeconomic *** Loess Plateau region is an important part of the china’s ecological security pattern,and occupies an important position in the implementation of china’s new-type urbanization strategy and the realization of the urban *** characteristics of the staged changes and regional differentiation of urbanization in the area from 1990 to 2018 were studied with focus on regions and subregions by selecting 341 county-level administrative units on the Chinese Loess Plateau as the research area,and employing partition analysis and geographic detector *** revealed the formation mechanism of the spatial differentiation pattern of urbanization on the Loess *** found that the urbanization of the Loess Plateau,previously in a slow growth phase,entered the accelerated development phase,presenting a macro pattern of high rates of urbanization in central and eastern areas and low rates in western *** formation of the regional differentiation patterns of urbanization on the Loess Plateau were the combined results of natural geographical and socioeconomic *** these factors,the interaction of any two factors had a stronger impact on regional urbanization patterns than a single factor,which was specifically manifested as nonlinear or bi-factor enhancement *** findings of this paper may provide a theoretical reference and scientific basis for the scientific promotion of healthy urbanization on the Chinese Loess Plateau and the ecologically fragile areas of developing countries around the world.

The earliest evidence for a microblade adaptation in the remote,high altitude regions of the Tibetan Plateau

Microblade assemblages are among the most common prehistoric archaeological materials found on the Tibetan Plateau(TP)and are thought to indicate large scale migration to and settlement of the *** microblade sites,however,have been systematically excavated,especially in the remotest,highest-elevation regions of the *** timing of the large-scale arrival,spread,and permanent settlement of people on the TP therefore remains *** this paper,we report on a recently excavated site,Locality 3 of the Nwya Devu Site(ND3),located at 4600 meters above sea level(masl),near the shore of Ngoin Lake,on the interior *** analyses reveal a fairly typical microblade technological orientation and two types of microblade cores:wedge-shaped and semi-conical,which are similar to those found throughout North *** Optically Stimulated Luminescence(OSL)dating and AMS^(14)C dating,the age of ND3 ranges from 11 to 10 *** date range indicates ND3 is the oldest microblade site yet recorded in the remote,high-elevation regions of the TP and thus provides important information about when and how hunter-gatherers using microblades began exploiting the higher altitudes of the *** together,studies at ND3 and throughout the TP suggest that a microblade adaptation is associated with the first prolonged human occupation of the plateau and that microblades played a significant role in mediating the risks and facilitating the mobility necessary to permanently inhabit the TP.

Ambient occlusion(AO)is a widely-used real-time rendering technique which estimates light intensity on visible scene ***,a number of learning-based AO approaches have been proposed,which bring a new angle to solving screen space shading via a unified learning framework with competitive quality and ***,most such methods have high error for complex scenes or tend to ignore *** propose an end-to-end generative adversarial network for the production of realistic AO,and explore the importance of perceptual loss in the generative model to AO *** attention mechanism is also described to improve the accuracy of details,whose effectiveness is demonstrated on a wide variety of scenes.

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR) represents a substantial threat to global public health, complicating the treatment of common infections and leading to prolonged illness and escalated healthcare expenses. To effectively combat AMR, timely and accurate detection is crucial for AMR surveillance and individual-based therapy. Phenotypic antibiotic resistance testing(AST) has long been considered the gold standard in clinical applications, serving as the foundation for clinical AMR diagnosis and optimized therapy. It has significantly contributed to ensuring patients′ health and the development of novel antimicrobials. Despite advancements in automated culture-based AST technologies,inherent limitations impede the widespread use of phenotypic AST in AMR surveillance. Genotypic AST technologies offer a promising alternative option, exhibiting advantages of rapidity, high sensitivity, and specificity. With the continuous advancement and expanding applications of genotypic AST technologies, such as microfluidics, mass spectrometry, and high-resolution melting curve analysis, new vigor has been injected into the development and clinical implementation of genotypic AST technologies. In this narrative review, we discuss the principles, applications, and advancements of emerging genotypic AST methods in clinical settings. The comprehensive review aims to highlight the significant scientific potential of emerging genotypic AST technologies in clinical AMR diagnosis, providing insights to enhance existing methods and explore novel approaches.

Climate change during the last glacial period on the southeast margin of Badain Jaran Desert, Northwest china

Reconstruction of the desert paleoclimate is important to understand the mechanisms that triggered and/or enhanced climate *** optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dating,grain size,magnetic susceptibility,X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and geochemical indicators,we provide a welldated record of a sedimentary outcrop on the southeast margin of the Bardain Jaran Desert,Northwest china,during the last glacial *** Qz-OSL ages are obtained,41.0±3.4 ka,54.7±4.4 ka,59.5±5.0 ka and 66.8±5.8 ka,corresponding to the depths of 35 cm,70 cm,150 cm and 200 cm *** like grain size,clay content,magnetic susceptibility,XRD and geochemical index(***,Ba,Sr/Ca)jointly indicate abrupt climate changes at the depth of 35 cm(age,ca.41.0 ka)and200 cm(age,ca.67 ka).Namely,the 280 cm sedimentary outcrop perfectly records a warm wet climate stage,corresponding to the late Marine Isotope Stages(MIS)4 to the early MIS ***,there is a trend of grain size increase after around 40ka BP,which is most likely a signal of wind strength *** research supports that enhancing Siberian High pressure system during the late MIS 3played a key role in NW East Asia climate evolution.

Characteristics and driving factors of abandoned cultivated land in the hilly regions of southern china:A case study in Longnan,Jiangxi Province

The abandonment of cultivated land in southern china was gradually *** research aims to provide a reference for solving the abandonment of cultivated land in hilly regions and promote rural development in *** examined Longnan county located in the hilly regions of southern china as an example,where abandoned cultivated land is very *** analyzed its land use data with a field survey to identify the abandoned cultivated land and geospatial *** the two aspects of social and natural factors,we analyzed the factors driving cultivated land abandonment with the help of *** results showed that in 2019,the total area of the abandoned cultivated land in Longnan county was 4,962.35 hm^(2),covering 39.51% of this *** the topographic factors,the abandonment rate is positively correlated with elevation and slope gradient,but not with slope *** the land parcel conditions,the abandonment rate is positively correlated with the access to road network and cultivation distance from *** the county level,the abandonment of cultivated land in study area was affected by multiple factors,among which,the direct factor was the reduction in the labor force,such as the decrease of farming laborers and the increase of female population,which made farming *** in production factors also promoted transformations in farmers’motivation to engage in production,such as the decrease of grain crops and the increase of cash crops,which was the indirect factor affecting cultivated land *** development of the rural nonagricultural industry affected farmers’enthusiasm,such as the decrease of farming households,which was the fundamental factor leading to cultivated land abandonment in this area.

A Pilot Study of Trophic Level and Human Origins at the Xiaoshuangqiao Site, china(ca. 1400 BC) Using 8D Values of Collagen

We present here a pilot study to examine trophic level effects and migration patterns at the middle Shang Dynasty site of Xiaoshuangqiao in Henan Province using δD results combined with δ^13C and δ^15N values. A total of 33 specimens（17 humans, 7 cattle, 5 pigs, 3 sheep, 1 dog） of bone collagen were isotopically analyzed for δ^13C, δ^15N, and dD values. A strong positive correlation（R^2 = 0.94）between mean δ^15N and δD values of herbivores（cattle and sheep）, omnivores（pig）, carnivores（dog）and humans was observed. The δD results were found to increase by -10‰ to 20‰ from herbivores to omnivores to carnivorous, evidence that collagen δD results are a useful indicator for the study of trophic levels and dietary patterns at archaeological sites. The δD results were also used to examine the origins of two different groups of individuals buried at Xiaoshuangqiao. Individuals buried in sacrificial pits of district V had mean δD values（-47.0 ± 2.9‰, n = 11） that were significantly（p =0.049） elevated compared to the people buried in the stratigraphy of district IX（-51.3 ± 3.3‰, n = 3）,indicating that they were ingesting water from different locations. In addition, the D values of the people buried in the stratigraphy were similar to the pigs（-54.5 ± 4.2‰, n = 5） at Xiaoshuangqiao,suggesting that they were most probably of the local population, and that the individuals buried in the sacrificial pits were most possibly from the coast and prisoners of the Dongyi（“东夷”）people. Thus,δD results have the potential to examine human origins and migration patterns and should be increasingly used in conjunction with δ^13C and δ^15N values at archaeological sites.

Nonculturability of the pathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus in live culture of Grateloupia turuturu is associated with bacterial attachment to the algal thalli

The invasive red alga Grateloupia turuturu Yamada could turn Vibrio parahaemolyticus into nonculturable state in live algal *** order to elucidate the mechanism of such an effect,a series of culture experiments were performed in this investigation based on three hypothesized causes,namely bacterial attachment,production of reactive oxygen species （ROS） and the discharge of water soluble secondary metabolic *** results reveal that attachment to the thallus surface of *** was the major reason for the decrease of *** in *** investigations show that *** attachment to the surface of algal thallus in live cultures of seaweeds was a common ***,the disappearance of the culturability of *** occurred only on the thallus of *** over 72 h among all six algal species *** microscopic scanning shows that most of *** attached to *** changed from the initial normal bacilli to coccoid-shape after 72 *** enclosure experiments by enclosing the algal thallus in tubes demonstrate that the nonculturability of *** in the water of live culture of *** occurred after the physical contact of the *** to the *** capacity of *** in affecting the culturability of *** was not influenced after inhibition of photosynthesis by treatment of 3（3,4dichlorophenyl）-1 ,1dimethyl urea （DCMU） at non-lethal *** of reactive oxygen species after addition of live culture of bacteria was excluded by on-line analyzing the oxidation of dichlorohydrofluorescein （DCFH） to dichlorofluorescein （DCF） in the presence of peroxidase on a VersaFluor fluorometer.
