qRfv2, a quantitative resistance locus against Fusarium ear rot in maize

Fusarium ear rot (FER), caused by Fusarium verticillioides, is a destructive fungal disease of maize. FER resistance is a complex, quantitatively inherited trait controlled by multiple minor-effect genes. In this study, we employed two recombinant inbred line (RIL) populations with the common resistant parental line CML304 to identify FER-resistance loci. Initial QTL analysis identified 23 FER-resistance QTL, each explaining 5.21%–30.51% of the total phenotypic variation. Notably, one major QTL, qRfv2, on chromosome 2 was repeatedly detected, accounting for 11.92%–30.51% of the total phenotypic variation. qRfv2 was fine mapped to an interval of 1.01 Mb, flanked by the markers IDP8 and IDP10. qRfv2 is a semi-dominant resistance gene that could reduce the disease severity index (DSI) by 12.4%–20%, suggesting its potential for enhancing FER resistance in maize. Transcriptome analysis showed that 22 of the 28 annotated functional genes in the qRfv2 region displayed differential expression between parental lines in response to FER. One of the candidate genes, ZmLOX6, was validated to presumably provide a positive effect on FER resistance. Our study provides a basis for the potential cloning and application of FER resistance genes in maize breeding. © 2025 Crop Science Society of china and Institute of Crop Science, CAAS

Design is a goal-oriented planning activity for creating products,processes,and systems with desired functions through *** is a decision-making exploration:the design outcome may vary greatly depending on the designer’s knowledge and *** design is one type of design philosophy that takes an interdisciplinary and holistic *** civil engineering,structural design is such an activity for creating buildings and ***,structural design in many countries has emphasized a performance-based philosophy that simultaneously considers a structure’s safety,durability,serviceability,and ***,integrated design in civil engineering has become more popular,useful,and ***-oriented integrated design and construction of structures(MIDCS)combine materials engineering and structural engineering in the design stage:it fully utilizes the strengths of materials by selecting the most suitable structural forms and construction *** paper will explore real-world examples of MIDCS,including the realization of MIDCS in timber seismic-resistant structures,masonry arch structures,long-span steel bridges,prefabricated/on-site extruded light-weight steel structures,fiber-reinforced cementitious composites structures,and fiber-reinforced polymer bridge ***,advanced material design methods such as bioinspired design and structure construction technology of additive manufacturing are briefly reviewed and discussed to demonstrate how MIDCS can combine materials and structures.A unified strengthdurability design theory is also introduced,which is a human-centric,interdisciplinary,and holistic approach to the description and development of any civil infrastructure and includes all processes directly involved in the life cycle of the ***,this paper lays out future research directions for further development in the field.

Multi-Level Feature-Based Ensemble Model for Target-Related Stance Detection

Effect of Thermal Conductivity of Tube-Wall on Blow-Off Limit of a Micro-Jet Methane Diffusion Flame

The operating range of the flow rate or flow velocity for the micro-jet flame is quite wide,which can be used as the heat *** order to optimize the micro-jet tube combustor in terms of the solid material,the present paper numerically investigates the impact of thermal conductivity(λs)on the operating limit of micro-jet ***,the non-monotonic blow-off limits with the increase ofλs is found,and the corresponding generation mechanisms are analyzed in terms of the thermal coupling effect,flow field,and strain *** first,the lower preheating temperature of the fuel and larger heat loss amount to the environment lead to a larger blow-off limit at a largerλ*** that,the smaller local flow velocity in the vicinity of flame root and smaller strain effect slightly increase the blow-off limit with the continuously increasingλ***,it is deduced that the applied performance of micro-jet combustor with a smaller thermal conductivity is better in terms of the blow-off limit.

Localized CdS homojunctions with optimal ratio of high and low index facets to dynamically boost H_(2)O splitting into H_(2)energy

Localized CdS homojunctions with optimal ratio of high and low index facets are constructed to dy-namically boost H_(2)O splitting into H_(2)energy by hydrothermal method in combination with *** density functional theory,hall effect,and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spec-troscopy,it is revealed that photo-irradiated e^(−)and h^(+)can be spatially separated and directionally trans-ferred to the reductive high-index facet{002}and oxidative low-index facet{110}of localized CdS homo-junction induced by Fermi level difference of both high and low index facets to dehydrogenate ^(∗)-OH and coupled ^(∗)-O intermediates for H_(2)and O_(2)yield,respectively,along with a solar conversion into hydrogen of 1.93%by AM 1.5 G irradiation at 65℃.The study work suggests a scientific perspective on the optimal ratio of high and low index facets to understand photo-generated charge carrier transfer dynamically and their photocatalytic principle for H_(2)O splitting reaction in kinetics.

Evolution of microstructure and texture of AZ61 Mg alloy during net-shape pressing of extruded perform

The micro orientation theological behavior of AZ61 Mg alloy during net-shape forming of tensile specimens via close-die pressing of extruded preformed and the effect of the press deformation rate on the microstructure characteristics were characterized with electron back-scattering diffraction(EBSD)orientation imaging microscopy and *** results indicate that the intensity distribution of basal{0001}texture on the cross-section of the extruded perform is uniform and parallel to the extrusion *** to pressing in extrusion direction,deformation shear stress leads to grain rotation and basal texture {0001}deviation from the extrusion direction,spreading in the direction perpendicular to pressing *** texture intensity increases with the press deformation rate and reaches its peak value at 50%,which is considerably lower than the value reached in extrusion ***,the texture intensity decreases with the press deformation rate reversely.

Nickel embedded porous macrocellular carbon derived from popcorn as sulfur host for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries

Due to the demands for high performance and ecological and economical alternatives to conventional lithium-ion batteries(Li Bs),the development of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries with remarkably higher theoretical capacity(1675 m A h g-1)has become one of the extensive research focus directions ***,poor conductivity of sulfur,critical cyclability problems due to shuttle of polysulfides as intermediate products of the cathodic reaction,and large volume variation of the sulfur composite cathode upon operation are the major bottlenecks impeding the implementation of the next-generation Li-S *** this work,a unique three-dimensional(3D)interconnected macrocellular porous carbon(PC)architecture decorated with metal Ni nanoparticles was synthesized by a simple and facile *** as-fabricated Ni/PC composite combines the merits of conducting carbon skeleton and highly adsorptive abilities of Ni,which resulted in efficient trapping of lithium polysulfides(Li PSs)and their fast conversion in the electrochemical *** to these synergistic advantageous features,the composite exhibited good cycling stability(512.3 mA h g^(-1)after 1000 cycles at 1 C with an extremely low capacity fading rate 0.03%per cycle),and superior rate capability(747.5 mA h g^(-1)at 2 C).Accordingly,such Ni nanoparticles embedded in a renewable puffed corn-derived carbon prepared via a simple and effective route represent a promising active type of sulfur host matrix to fabricate high-performance Li-S batteries.
