Preparation of double perovskite-type oxide LaSrFeCoO_6 for chemical looping steam methane reforming to produce syngas and hydrogen

Double-perovskite type oxide LaSrFeCoO_6 was used as oxygen carrier for chemical looping steam methane reforming（CL-SMR） due to its unique structure and reactivity. Solid-phase, amorphous alloy, sol-gel and micro-emulsion methods were used to prepare the LaSrFeCoO_6 samples, and the as-prepared samples were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction（XRD）, hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction（H_2-TPR）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller（BET） surface area. Results showed that the samples made by the four different methods exhibited pure crystalline perovskite structure. The ordered double perovskite LaSrFeCoO_6 was regarded as a regular arrangement of alternating FeO_6 and CoO_6 corner-shared octahedra, with La and Sr cations occupying the voids in between the octahedral. Because the La^（3＋） and Sr^（2＋） ions in A-site did not take part in reaction, the TPR patterns showed the reductive properties of the B-site metals. The reduction peaks at low temperature revealed the reduction of adsorbed oxygen on surface and combined with the reduction of Co^（3＋） to Co^（2＋） and to Co^0, while the reduction of Fe^（3＋） to Fe^（2＋） and the partial reduction of Fe^（2＋） to Fe^0 occurred at higher temperatures. From the point of view of the oxygen-donation ability, resistance to carbon formation, as well as hydrogen generation capacity, the sample made by micro-emulsion method exhibited the best reactivity. Its redox reactivity was very stable in ten successive cycles without deactivation. Compared to the single perovskite-type oxides LaFeO_3 and LaCoO_3, the double perovskite LaSrFeCoO_6 exhibited better syngas and hydrogen generation capacity.

The emission and contact drying kinetics of the paper mill sludge (PMS) were studied through experiments carried out in a paddle dryer. To get a better understanding of its drying mechanism, a penetration model developed by Tsotsas and Schlünder (1986) was used to simulate the drying kinetics of the PMS. The result indicated that this kinetics could be divided into three phases: pasty, lumpy and granular phases, and could be successfully simulated by the penetration model as the related sludge parameters were integrated into the model. The emission rate curves of the volatile compounds (VCs) were interrelated to the drying rate curve of the PMS, especially for volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and ammonia in this study.

A model describing the absorption process of SO2 into limestone slurry with a spray scrubber is presented. Both the physical performance of the spray liquid in the scrubber and the involved chemical reactions are analyzed in the model. A con- tinuous concentration change of H+ was solved by iterative coupling using Matlab, and it was found that there was a remarkable influence on the concentration of the other elements in the process of SO2 absorption. The calculations show that the enhancement factor exponentially grows with an increasing value of pH and logarithmically decays with an increasing value of the driving force. To verify the accuracy of the model, experiments were also carried out, and the results suggest that the model, after combining the physical performance of the spray and the enhancement factor, can more precisely describe SO2 absorption in a spray scrubber. Furthermore, a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool is used to perform several simulations which describe and clarify the effects of variables on SO2 absorption. The results of numerical simulation can provide a basis for further design and optimization of the scrubber.

Solar-driven water splitting is considered as a promising method to mitigate the energy crisis and various environmental *** vanadate(BiVO_(4))is photoanode material with tremendous potential for photoelectrochemical(PEC)water ***,its PEC performance is severely hindered owing to poor surface charge transfer,surface recombination at the photoanode/electrolyte junction,and sluggish oxygen evolution reaction(OER)*** this regard,a novel solution was developed in this study to address these issues by decorating the surface of BiVO_(4)with cobalt sulfide,whose attractive features such as low cost,high conductivity,and rapid charge-transfer ability assisted in improving the PEC activity of the BiVO_(4)*** fabricated photoanode exhibited a significantly enhanced photocurrent density of 3.2 m A cm^(-2)under illumination at 1.23 V vs.a reversible hydrogen electrode,which is more than 2.5 times greater than that of pristine BiVO_(4).Moreover,the Co S/BiVO_(4)photoanode also exhibited considerable improvements in the charge injection yield(75.8%vs.36.7%for the bare BiVO_(4)film)and charge separation efficiency(79.8%vs.66.8%for the pristine BiVO_(4)film).These dramatic enhancements were primarily ascribed to rapid charge-transport kinetics and efficient reduction of the anodic overpotential for oxygen evolution enabled by the surface modification of BiVO_(4)by Co *** study provides valuable suggestions for designing efficient photocatalysts via surface modification to improve the PEC performance.

To investigate the non-uniform distribution of different gases passing through the parallel cyclones,experiments were conducted on a circulating fluidized bed(CFB)equipped with six asymmetrical cyclones.A multi-tracer gas method was used,with CO,O_(2),and CO_(2) chosen to represent gases with different properties in the flue gas at the inlets of the *** uniformity of multi-gas distribution was evaluated by measuring the concentration deviations of each tracer gas passing through individual *** results indicate that the concentrations of multi-tracer gases are higher in the middle cyclone among the three,which are located on the tracer gas injection side during the test of single-side secondary air(SA)*** maximum concentration deviation of tracer gases is for CO_(2),while the minimum is for *** the three cyclone inlets on the opposite side,the tracer gas with higher density exhibits a more uniform distribution,and the gas uniformity decreases as the density *** effects of superficial velocity,SA ratio,bed inventory,and tracer gas injection region on the uniformity of gas distribution were *** results show that superficial velocity and SA ratio primarily affect the uniformity of higher density gases,while bed inventory has a greater influence on lower density *** gas distributions are most non-uniform,especially for CO_(2),when the tracer gas injection region is near the rear wall closer to the induced draft fan during the test of regional SA tracing.

Pre-dried sewage sludge with high sulfur content was combusted in an electrically heated lab-scale fluidized-bed incinerator. The emission characteristics of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins （PCDDs）, polychlorinated dibenzofurans （PCDFs） and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） were studied. Coal and calcium oxide （CaO） were added during the sewage sludge combustion tests to optimize combustion conditions and control SO2 emission. The results indicated that the flue gases emitted during mono-combustion of sewage sludge were characterized by relatively high concentrations of SO2, NOx and organic pollutants, due to the high sulfur, nitrogen, and volatile matter content of sewage sludge. The total 16 USEPA priority PAHs and 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/Fs produced from sewage sludge combustion were found to be 106.14 μg/m^3 and 8955.93 pg/m^3 in the flue gas, respectively. In the case of cocombustion with coal （msludge/mcoal =1：1）, the 16 PAHs and 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/Fs concentrations were markedly lower than those found during mono-combustion of sewage sludge. During co-combustion, a suppressant effect of CaO on PCDD/Fs formation was observed.
