Structural and Ferroelectric Transition in Few-Layer HfO_(2) Films by First Principles Calculations

The discovery of ferroelectricity in HfO_(2)-based materials with high dielectric constant has inspired tremendous research interest for next-generation electronic ***,films structure and strain are key factors in exploration of ferroelectricity in fluorite-type oxide HfO_(2) *** we investigate the structures and straininduced ferroelectric transition in different phases of few-layer HfO_(2) films(layer number𝑁=1–5).It is found that HfO_(2) films for all phases are more stable with increasing films *** them,the Pmn2_(1)(110)-oriented film is most stable,and the films of𝑁=4,5 occur with a𝑃21 ferroelectric transition under tensile strain,resulting in polarization about 11.8μC/cm^(2) along in-plane𝑎-*** ferroelectric transition is caused by the strain,which induces the displacement of Hf and O atoms on the surface to non-centrosymmetric positions away from the original paraelectric positions,accompanied by the change of surface Hf–O bond *** importantly,three new stable HfO_(2)2D structures are discovered,together with analyses of computed electronic structures,mechanical,and dielectric *** work provides guidance for theoretical and experimental study of the new structures and strain-tuned ferroelectricity in freestanding HfO_(2) films.

Lufengpithecus inner ear provides evidence of a common locomotor repertoire ancestral to human bipedalism

Various lines of evidence have been used to infer the origin of human bipedalism,but the paucity of hominoid postcranial fossils and the diversity of inferred locomotor modes have tended to confound the reconstruction of ancestral *** of the bony labyrinth morphology of the inner ear of extinct and living hominoids provides independent evidence for inferring the evolution of hominoid locomotor *** computed tomography data and morphometric analyses of the Late Miocene ape Lufengpithecus indicate that it and other stem great apes possess labyrinths similar to one another and show that hominoids initially evolved from a positional repertoire that included orthogrady,below-branch forelimb suspension and progression,above-branch bipedalism,climbing,clambering,and leaping(hylobatid-like)to one that comprised above-branch quadrupedalism,below-branch forelimb suspension,vertical climbing,limited leaping,terrestrial quadrupedal running and walking,possibly with knuckle walking,and short bouts of bipedalism(chimpanzee-like).The bony labyrinth morphology of Lufengpithecus indicates that it probably conforms more closely to the last common ancestors of crown hominoids and hominids in its locomotor behavior than do other Miocene *** bipedalism evolved from this common archetypal Lufengpithecus-like locomotor *** low evolutionary rate of semicircular canal morphology suggests that Lufengpithecus experienced a relative stasis in locomotor behavior,probably due to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau,which created a stable environment in the Miocene of southwestern china.

Single-atom catalysts were widely used to treat atmospheric pollution and alleviate energy crises through ***,how to prevent the aggregation of single atoms during the preparation and catalytic processes remained a great ***,a novel ultrathin two-dimensional porphyrin-based single-atom photocatalyst Ti-MOF(abbreviated as TMPd)obtained through a simple hydrothermal synthesis strategy was used for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and NO removal,in which the singleatom Pd tightly anchored in the center of porphyrin to ensure single-atom Pd stable *** with most reported MOFs-based photocatalysts,the TMPd showed an excellent hydrogen evolution rate(1.32 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1))and the NO removal efficiency(62%)under visible light *** high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscope(HAADF-STEM)and synchrotron-radiation-based X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy(XAFS)proved that pd in TMPd existed in an isolated state,and the atomic force microscope(AFM)proved the ultrathin morphology of *** calculations had demonstrated that single-atom Pd could serve as the active center and more effectively achieve electron transfer,indicating that single-atom Pd played a vital role in photocatalytic hydrogen *** addition,a possible photocatalytic pathway of NO removal was proposed based on ESR and in-situ infrared spectra,in which the catalysts anchored with single-atom Pd could produce more active substances and more effectively oxidize NO to NO_(2)^(-)or NO_(3)^(-).The results suggested that coordinating single-atom metal species as the active site in the center of porphyrin could be a feasible strategy to obtain various ultrathin porphyrin-based single-atom photocatalysts to acquire excellent photocatalytic performance further.

The origin of agriculture in the farming-pastoral zone of northern china remains in *** central region of the Inner Mongolia Plateau is located in the core area of the farming-pastoral zone;thus,it is a critical region for exploring the origin of the dryland farming system in northern *** study selected the Yumin Site and Banan Site,which belong to the Yumin Culture-the beginning of Neolithic culture in Inner Mongolia-as the research *** on the quartz optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dating on the sedimentary sections from the Yumin site(YM)and Banan site(BN1 and BN2),the Holocene chronology framework of each section was *** that,by identifying carbonized grains in the Yumin site and the multi-proxy analysis of each section,we investigated the relationship between the origin of agriculture and climate change in this *** results revealed that the timing of the origin of agriculture recorded in the Yumin site lagged behind the timing of a significant increase of precipitation during the early Holocene but coincided with the timing of a significant increase of vegetation around 8.4 *** phenomenon was further confirmed by the published high-resolution paleoenvironmental records from the surrounding area of the Yumin *** propose that with the gradual amelioration of hydrothermal conditions since the beginning of the Holocene,the regional ecosystem had been improved,resulting in the gradual conversion of the land surface from infertile sand to organic-rich soil,providing an appropriate environmental foundation for the origin of dryland farming in northern china around 8.4 *** study highlighted that the“accumulative environmental effects”during the early Holocene played a vital role in the origin of agriculture in northern china and provided a reference for agricultural management in the context of future climate change.

Reanalysis on the Spectral Characteristics and Materials of Jade Jue Unearthed from Lijiashan Ancient Tomb in Yunnan Province, china

Jade ware Jue is one of the most fashionable ornament in ancient china from the Neolithic Age to the Han *** this study,the remnants of jade ware Jue,from Lijiashan ancient tomb group have been tested and analyzed *** samples through a light etch surface showing glass luster and those with a severe etch surface showing earthen *** the aid of X-ray fluorescence Spectrometer(X-ray Fluorescence)test and X-ray diffraction(XRD)detection,the results show that tremolite is not the main mineral of the *** main components of the tested samples with light erosion are antigorite and talc,although the main components of the samples with severe erosion are calcite containing calcium carbonate ***,the research on jade ware Jue in Yunnan culture has not only contributed to our further understanding of the jade objects from Yunnan culture and the variety of jade material located in the Yunnan *** also provides a basis for the trace of the history and culture through the distribution and evolution of burial hierarchy *** the same time,the microscopic observation of the tested samples manifested a residual trace of“string”at the perforation,which has played a critical role in restoring the wearing of jade ware Jue from the tombs of the ancient Yunnan State and the handicraft skills at that time.
