Simulations of contact problems involving at least one plastic solid may be costly due to their strong nonlinearity and requirements of *** this work,we develop an explicit asynchronous variational integrator(AVi)for inelastic non-frictional contact problems involving a plastic *** AVi assigns each element in the mesh an independent time step and updates the solution at the elements and nodes *** asynchrony makes the AVi highly efficient in solving such bi-material *** advantage of the AVi,the constitutive update is locally performed in one element at a time,and contact constraints are also enforced on only one *** time step of the contact element is subdivided into multiple segments,and the fields are updated *** a contact event,only one element involving a few degrees of freedom is considered,leading to high *** proposed formulation is first verified with a pure elastodynamics benchmark and further applied to a contact problem involving an elastoplastic solid with non-associative volumetric *** numerical results indicate that the AVi exhibits excellent energy behaviors and has high computational efficiency.

BACKGROUND: The inability of paramedics to perform accurate calculations may result in a compromise of patient safety which may result from under or over dosing of drugs, incorrect joules for defibrillation, or a major adverse event such as death. The objective of this study was to identify the drug calculation and mathematical ability of qualified operational ***: The study used a cross-sectional design with a paper-based calculation questionnaire. Twenty paramedics enrolled in an intensive care paramedic course were eligible to participate in the study. The questionnaire consisted of demographic, drug calculation(seven questions), and mathematical(five) questions. Students were given no notice of the impending study and use of a calculator was not ***: All eligible students participated in the study. The average time employed as a paramedic was 7.25 years, SD 2.5 years, range four years to twelve years. Four(20%) students got all 12 questions correct, and five(41.6%) got 50% or less. The average score was 8.6(71.7%) correct, SD 2.8 correct, range 3 to 12 correct questions. There were eight(40%) conceptual errors, 12(60%) arithmetical errors, and five(25%) computational ***: The results from this study supports similar international studies where paramedic's ability to undertake mathematical and drug calculations without a calculator varies, with some results highlighting the paramedics mathematical skills as a potential risk to patient safety. These results highlight the need for regular continuing mathematical and drug calculation practice and education to ensure a lower error rate.

Soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products(sRAGE)acts as a decoy sequestering of RAGE ligands,thus preventing the activation of the ligand-RAGE axis linking human ***,the molecular mechanisms underlying sRAGE remain *** this study,THP-1 monocytes were cultured in normal glucose(NG,5.5 mmol/L)and high glucose(HG,15 mmol/L)to investigate the effects of diabetesrelevant glucose concentrations on sRAGE and interleukin-1β(iL-1β)*** modulatory effects of epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)in response to HG challenge were also *** enhanced intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and RAGE *** secretion of sRAGE,including esRAGE and cRAGE,was reduced under HG conditions,together with the downregulation of a disintegrin and metallopeptidase 10(ADAM10)and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)nuclear ***,the HG effects were counteracted by siRAGE and exacerbated by *** immunoprecipitation results showed that Nrf2 binding to the ADAM10 promoter and HG interfered with this *** data reinforce the notion that RAGE and Nrf2 might be sRAGE-regulating *** HG conditions,the treatment of EGCG reduced ROS generation and RAGE ***-stimulated cRAGE release was likely caused by the upregulation of the Nrf2-ADAM10 *** inhibited HG-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation at least partly by stimulating sRAGE,thereby reducing iL-1βrelease.

AiM:To introduce a novel surgical technique using a Z-shaped incision without epithelial resection in ophthalmic ***:This was a prospective *** pterygium surgery,all proliferative tissues were separated from the cornea and conjunctiva without resection of the *** unaffected conjunctiva was incised in a *** upper(or lower)conjunctival flap was sutured to the lower(or upper)normal conjunctiva on the limbal sclera,while the proliferative tissue was sutured to the upper conjunctiva(or lower)near the ***:Ten patients with pterygia were eligible for this *** patients with primary pterygia and 2 with recurrent pterygia were *** age of patients at surgery ranged from 47 to 90y(average:71.9y).Five patients each showed right and left-sided *** postoperative follow-up periods were from 8 to 78mo(average:25.0mo).The surgery was successfully conducted and wounds were favorably reconstructed in all *** proliferative tissues sutured to the normal conjunctiva showed palor and attenuated neovessles,and never showed re-growth after *** patients did not show *** pterygium was noted in 1 patient,but additional treatments were not ***:The procedure involves the reconstruction of pterygial tissue and normal conjunctiva using a Z-shaped *** scleral limbal wound can be covered with nonaffected conjunctiva without any excision of conjunctival epithelia in patients with primary or recurrent pterygia.

The adsorption properties, including the adsorption isotherms, thermodynamics and kinetics, of 1-amino-2- naphthol-4-sulfonic acid (1,2,4-acid) onto weakly basic resin ND900 are investigated. Both the Langmuir and Freundlich equations can give a good fit to the adsorption isotherms, which indicates an endothermic and a favorable adsorption in our study range. A high yield in elimination of about 45.21 %-97.28% is obtained for the tested adsorption systems. The capacity and affinity of the adsorption increase with temperature, due to the phenomena of 'solvent-motivated' effects. The value of is 51.59 kJ/mol, which indicates a chemical adsorption and then expects the poor desorption property of ND900. The negative value of indicates the spontaneous nature of the adsorption process, and the positive value of shows the increased randomness at the solid/solution interface during the adsorption process. The value of the adsorption rate constant lower than 0.013 min-1 is indicative of a slow adsorption rate. The intra-particle diffusion must be one of the rate limiting steps.

Objective:The study of effective factors on the quality of life(QoL),as an important criterion,in the outcome of new therapeutic and preventive strategies in human immunodeficiency virus(HiV)has been considered by *** study the relationship between spiritual well-being and Health-Related Quality of Life(HRQoL)and some related factors in patients with Acquired immunodeficiency Syndrome([AiDS]/HiV).Methods:in this cross-sectional study,224 people were selected as the study population(112 were male and 112 were female)from patients with AiDS/HiV at the Behavioral Counseling Center of Shiraz with available sampling *** research tool was Palutzian&Ellison well-being scale and QoL Questionnaire(SF-36).Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation ***:There was a significant direct relationship between physical function dimensions(P=0.003).There was a significant relationship between general well-being,mental well-being,and total spiritual well-being(Pistically significant relationship between the dimensions of QoL and spiritual well-being with some age section of the patients,and their occupation and education(Pions:Spirituality has an impact on the QoL ***,HiV positive people’s quality of life could be improved by the possibility of the spiritual well-being promotion as a method of adaptation with the disease.
