Synergistic effect of bonding heterogeneity and phonon localization in introducing excellent thermoelectric properties in layered heteroanionic NdZnSbO material

Layered rare-earth metal oxides, harnessing the dual properties of oxides and two-dimensional layered materials, exhibit remarkable thermal stability and quantum confinement effects. Therefore, this work adopts the first-principles calculation combined with the Boltzmann transport theory to predict the thermoelectric properties of NdZnSbO compound. The coexistence of weak interlayer van der Waals interactions, robust intralayer ionic bonding, and partial covalent bonding leads to remarkable bonding heterogeneity, which engenders pronounced phonon scattering and imposes constraints on thermal transport along the out-of-plane direction. The weakened chemical bonds induced by the antibonding states, together with the rattling-like behavior of the Zn atom, culminate in the profound anharmonicity in the layered NdZnSbO compound. The weakening bond and heavy element contribute to the softness of phonon modes, which significantly diminishes the phonon group velocity. The redistribution-dominated four-phonon scattering process spans a large optical gap, which effectively reduces the lattice thermal conductivity. The NdZnSbO compound exhibits direct semiconductor characteristic with a bandgap of 0.73 e V by adopting the Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof(HSE06) functional in combination with spin–orbit coupling(SOC) effect. The multi-valley feature of NdZnSbO compound augur favorably for band degeneracy, thus amplifying the power factor. Consequently, an optimal figure-of-merit(ZT) of 3.40 at 900 K is achieved for the n-type NdZnSbO compound. The present study delves deeply insights into the origins for the low thermal conductivity of NdZnSbO compound and proposes an optimization scheme to enhance overall thermoelectric performance.

Merging bound states in the continuum in an open acoustic resonator

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and Friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error because its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of Fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

Hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)is a two-dimensional(2D)layered material with a structure similar to graphite and it has potential as a hydrogen and ammonia storage ***,dense packing in the standard h-BN structure limits its surface area and prevents the B and N from being adsorption *** this study,the addition of Mg^(2+)during h-BN synthesis facilitated the growth of lattice dislocations and led to a crosslinked three-dimensional(3D)porous structure.A proposed formation mechanism for porous h-BN was confirmed by several characterization routes,most clearly by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM).Porous Mg/BNs exhibited high H_(2)and NH_(3)uptakes and showed potential for H_(2)and NH_(3)storage.

Cells are the fundamental units of biological systems and exhibit unique development trajectories and molecular features. Our exploration of how the genomes orchestrate the formation and maintenance of each cell, and control the cellular phenotypes of various organismsis, is both captivating and intricate. Since the inception of the first single-cell RNA technology, technologies related to single-cell sequencing have experienced rapid advancements in recent years. These technologies have expanded horizontally to include single-cell genome, epigenome,proteome, and metabolome, while vertically, they have progressed to integrate multiple omics data and incorporate additional information such as spatial sc RNA-seq and CRISPR screening. Single-cell omics represent a groundbreaking advancement in the biomedical field,offering profound insights into the understanding of complex diseases, including cancers. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in single-cell omics technologies, with a specific focus on the methodology section. This overview aims to guide researchers in selecting appropriate methods for single-cell sequencing and related data analysis.

Luminescent sensing film based on sulfosalicylic acid modified Tb(Ⅲ)-doped yttrium hydroxide nanosheets

Sulfosalicylic acid(SSA) was used as an intercalation agent and an excellent antenna to synthesize layered rare-earth hydroxide(LRH) materials and directly obtain SSA-modified terbium-doped ytterbium hydroxide nanosheets by mechanical exfoliation. The crystal structure and morphologies of the LRHs and nanosheets were determined by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The particle size and zeta potential of the prepared nanosheets were also analyzed. The as-prepared nanosheets exhibited excellent luminescent properties. The positively charged nanosheets were electrophoretically deposited on a conductive glass to form a thin film. The luminescence of this thin film can be quenched by chromate(CrO_4^(2–)) and bilirubin(BR), which shows good sensing properties. The quenching mechanism of the sensing film by CrO_4^(2–) and BR was discussed based on the spectra and structure of the film.

Syntheses, Characterizations and Catalytic Activities of Rare Earth Derivatives of Molybdotungstovanado-Phosphoric Heteropoly Acid

Seven new-type pentabasic heteropoly complexes with the general molecular formula K 10H 5[Ln(PMo 5W 4V 2O 39) 2]·nH 2O(Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Dy) were synthesized. The results of IR, UV, 31P, 51V NMR and X-ray powder diffraction pattern demonstrate that the product still maintains Keggin structure. The thermal stability studied by water solubility test, TG-DTA, XRD and IR at various temperature shows that the range of pyrolysis temperature is from 500～550 ℃. The catalytic action varies according to the contents of rare earths which are used to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.

Low-temperature activation of methane over rare earth metals promoted Zn/HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts in the presence of ethylene

At low temperature of 723 K, methane can be easily activated in the presence of ethylene in the feed, and converted to higher hydrocarbons （C2-C4） and aromatics （C6-C10）, through its reaction over rare metals modified Zn/HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts without undesirable carbon oxides formation. Methane can get 37.3% conversion over the above catalysts under low temperature, and the catalysts show a longer lifetime than usual metal supported HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts without adding any rare earth metals. The effects of methane activation over various rare earth metal promoted Zn/HZSM-5 catalysts on the products and influences of several reaction conditions such as temperature, catalyst lifetime and molar ratio of CH4/C2H4 have been discussed.

Projective Hilbert modules and sequential approximations

We show that when A is a separable C*-algebra,every countably generated Hilbert A-module is projective（with bounded module maps as morphisms）.We also study the approximate extensions of bounded module *** the case where A is a σ-unital simple C*-algebra with strict comparison,and every strictly positive lower semicontinuous affine function on quasitraces can be realized as the rank of an element in the Cuntz semigroup,we show that the Cuntz semigroup is equivalent to unitarily equivalent classes of countably generated Hilbert A-modules if and only if A has stable rank one.
